Some time ago there was an event that lead to Equestria gaining thousands of new citizens within the day. The sheer amount of ponies that arrived overwhelmed the country as confusion and fear filled the cities that made up the great country. Eventually through the efforts of the Two Sisters as well as various charity groups the new ponies where gathered together and given different options to choose their own homes upon the borders of Equestria. A colony for Equestria with their own rules and leaders.

This is the tale of one of those colony’s.

The population of ponies your town had selected through lots to choose one of the tropical island chains that are on the south eastern corner of Equestria. The thought was that the weather would make things easier for settling into the area. What they were not expecting was the sheer heat and humidity.

>You are…
>The Mayor of this sorry lot of ponies [Base Building]

Looks like it's adventuring time!

Wiping sweat off your forehead you soon are panting from the oppressive heat as you move through the jungle. The thick air seems to almost push against you as you travel before you soon find in a lucky break a small spring! Hurrying down to the water your reflection soon comes into sight...

>You see...
>Coat Color: ???
>Mane Color: ???
>Gender: ???
>A horn showcasing your magical might as the Unicorn!
>A pair of wings since you're a pegasus after all!
>Nothing out of the ordinary just a normal Earth Pony after all!

Breaking the surface of the water with your hooves you quickly quench your thirst and fill your water bag with the tasty cool water. Once that is done you soon find two beast trails that lead in different directions; one goes deeper into the jungles where the gloom is alive with the sounds of birds, insects and all manner of creatures, while the other trail leads off to the coast line further from where the colony is set to be established.

Righto Moving Along...

>You're a male unicorn with a tan coat and dark purple hair that looks almost black.
>We Must go Deeper Selected.

Making your way deeper into the jungle you soon find that the canopy had open up after the initial group of trees. With the trees scattered in small groupings you find the floor is swampy, a thin layer of water coating the ground as you hop from each tree base to another. From your position you can see what looks like a mountain that dominates the island on this specific island at least, might be worth investigating. Off to a closer position you can see what looks like signs of habitation as there are small totem poles that trail off to the right.

Before you are able to decide however you hear something splash in the water. Just in time for you to turn and see a large maw about to bite your head off!

Cursing you roll drop down as the crockadile soars over head!

Battle has begun!

Lowering your head you charge up your spell and let out a bright flash of light! The Crockadile roars in agony as it's eyes are blinded by the spell.

Taking the chance you turn tail and make for the hills!

Water splashes all around you as you make your way through the soggy swamp water. Thankfully you don't disturb anything else along your way. Soon you find that you have reached the foot of the mountain. Looking up the tall craggy and tree infested vista you find what looks like a cave opening near the middle of the mountain. There is a stone lined path over grown with moss that leads up to it, if you didn't know any better you'd think that it was a sign of civilization...

Making your way up the path you find that the dirt soon turns to stone and before your very eyes you find that the cave opening in fact leads to what looks like a structure set inside of the mountain itself! A closer look at the cave entrance even shows hints of what looks like a large broken down gate that has been weathered by time and weather.

Curious you wish to explore the inside of the structure, but who knows what might be inside. It would be best to be fully prepared for this. Looking over your equipment you find your water flask filled, a trio of torches, a simple worn sword and a few bags that have some food for a few days journey.

The interior is well preserved from what little parts you can make out as well showing strange creatures that are standing in a very familiar stance. Either on their hind legs, or something else entirely!

>Delve into the cave by yourself.
>Return to town and report back

>>
>>25955157
>>25955251
Going inside of the cave your hooves leave a small echo of clopping hooves. The air here stifled by the interior. Off to your right you can see what looks like a broken door, the slab of stone that had blocked it lays broken upon the floor.

Ahead of you can see a larger door that is smooth and flush against the wall sealed against the outside elements. It looks to have never been open for many years. Standing beside it is a humanesqe figure that stands tall clad in armor with a bowed head as he glares down at those who pass.

It's quite amazing that they even had humans here, you had thought that when your people had arrived in Equestria that humanity was gone from the world, but here to spite you in fact were ruins of humans. At least you hope so and this isn't all an elaborate prank set up by that chuckle fuck Discord.

Wouldn't that be something.

Off to your left you can also see an arch way that leads into what looks like a stable of sorts, stalls made of stone in neat little rows lay ready for mounts that will never again sit in them.

>Go to the Broken Door.
>Go to the Stable
>Look about some more.
>>
>>25955320
Go to the stable.
>>
>>25955426
Trotting into the stable area you soon find that many of the stalls are empty, the food troughs long empty and barren. However the water troughs still have water in them, though it is has gone bad and still giving the room a stink that rankles the nose.

Nearing the end of the stables you also find some riding kit, bits and bridles most of the leather has gone bad leaving only metal bits behind.

Looks like nothing is here, however you can search closer by responding to this post and we'll be using the last two digits of your post number to roll. 00 is hundred, lower is better.
>>
>>25955502
Search around the place closer. Maybe something is hidden. Who knows?
>>
>>25955527
[Success!]

While you search around in the stables you find something glinting underneath some blankets. Shoving the thick heavy spun cloth off you gape at the sight before you.

You've found Chain Mail Barding!

You can choose to wear it now or store it for later to sell back in town.

With it on you can take an extra bit of damage though you will be a touch slower than normal.

>Equip
>Stash

Afterwards you soon find nothing else of value inside the stables and return to the grand hall that you started in. Now all that's left is the broken down door and the cave entrance. Though you do notice that the light inside the cave is slowly fading as the sun seems to be setting. Soon you'll need to use a torch.

>>
>>25955786

>>
>>25955813
>>25955829
Sliding the chainmail on you adjust the links to fit more comfortably around your body and nod. Good quality iron at least.

Noticing that the light is dying you rummage in your bag and find one of your torches quickly igniting the brand you hold it in the air with your magic, the warm fire and the glow of magic giving you a good radius of view around you.

Making your way to the other room you find it to be filled with what looks like a control panel of sorts formed out of stone and metal. In the center there is a missing piece component, rectanglur in shape and about the size of your hoof. The runes lininig the panel look to be upon panels that be depressed where a large red stone in the center can be found.

Aside from the panel you look about to see what else there is; a broken chair, a table that has been over turned, another doorway that has a half lowered stone door where you can make out some shelves and that is it.

>Write in
>>
>>25955979
Go to the overturned table. Put it right side up. Was anything underneath it?
>>
>>25956123
Moving the table upright you see strewn papers written in a foreign tongue, a few photos that look to be faded showing ponies and rather short humans, they look more like dwarves than humans at this point. The other thing that you find is a strange crystal that is held together with a metal rectangular base and a crystal lattice that covers the gem. It looks like it could fit in the hole from the panel.
>>
>>25956204
I think we should put it in.
>>
>>25956235
Placing the gem in the panel you find that it doesn't work, it fits in well enough with a satisfying click yet nothing seems to occur. Even after pressing down on a few of the runes you don't have any reaction. Looks like this gem is out of power.

When you look around you find that the half lowered door is still an option to look, there is also a small light blue glow emanating from inside as well.
>>
>>25956286
Let's go in there.

Setting the torch to the side you scramble underneath the door. For a moment you think your stuck half in and out of the door when you suddenly pop the rest of the way inside with a crash. Rubbing your head you think for a moment and a small spark of light illuminates the room.

It looks like a storage room judging by the stone shelves and random assorted things stashed away. Brooms, mops, even an extra bucket or two litter the floor. It's when you look to the back of the room do you find what you are looking for. Sitting within a crate filled with straw you find another stone gem much simialir to the other one you had found only this one is glowing with a inner blue green light that is soothing to the eyes. Cradling the gem close you know what you have to do.

Trotting to the door once more you push the gem under and quickly follow after. Sucking in your gut you quickly fit through once more and have the gem in tow.

Placing the gem into place after removing the old one you watch as the light spreads across the panel lighting the runes up with the same glow. The only difference is from the red stone that glows a dark rosy red as the panel powers on. Now begins the fun task of figuring out how to work the panel.

The runes are arranged in a three by three grid with the large red stone above them. Near the red stone you can make out a trio of glass beads that are near the red stone, currently they are off. It looks like you need to enter a passcode to keep going.
>>
>>25956406
Retrieve papers that are written in foreign tongue. See how they compare to the writing on this grid.
>>
>>25956444
Looking over the papers you find the symbols readily enough, when they are used they are found next to an item in more runes, then the next one occurs. They also can be found together in numbered ordered...it looks like the runes are numbers. On the display you can find the rune for one in the lower left corner followed shortly by two quickly enough. Now this looks easier now, but what could the pass code be?

Checking over the papers again you look for any three digits that might be together, but the words are still a mystery to you. You do notice however a small block of text that is written in the margins with the numbers of 3, 4, and 7 in it. Deciding to try that you quickly punch in the numbers for 347 and hit the red button.

In the next room you can hear the grinding of stone and a rush of air exiting out the tunnel.

Quickly picking your torch up with your magic you soon run out into the main hall to find the main door has slide open revealing a large hallway that descends deeper into the mountain!

Going deeper within you turn back to note that it's now twilight as you being your journey down. The silence within is deafening and only broken by the clattering of your hooves as you walk. What disturbs you the most is the fact that in ruins you would expect to find some form of remains by now, skeletons even or preserved corpses, as it is there is nothing within before you exit the hall out into a street that is lined with buildings on either side.

Most of the doors are barred and the windows boarded up with large red x's marked upon the doorways. You can travel either left or right on the street or cross this bridge that lays ahead of you the gloom shielding the other side from view.

Figure I pick up the pace a bit and take care of small minor actions myself if that's alright?
>>
>>25956576
yeah, it's ok to do some small actions.

I think we should make a right and look at the buildings or try to find something that doesn't have an x on it.
We might need more ponies to explore this place though.
>>
>>25956884
Traveling right you stick to your side of the road passing by house after house that are locked down tight. The feeling of being watched makes your neck prickle in worry.

However nothing seems to happen to you as you finally find something else that isn't just a boarded up house or market stall! The street eventually opens out into a chamber in the bedrock that has been carved into a stout and blocky architecture in the center lays a small impression that is just on the edge of your vision. It almost looks like where a pool would go only there are dark streaks of soot there. To the right you can see what starts to be steps leading up to a large building where tattered banners hang, what draws your attention however is the dried blood stain that is against it.

Whoever was here must have had a fight, lost maybe the whole city was in a battle?

None the less you continue to explore the chamber and find two more exits aside from the one you came from. One the heads to the center of the mountain you think, and another that follows the street you were on. You could also explore the large building as it has no actual doors blocking your progress.

There is a breif skittering that you can hear, but when you go to look you see nothing in the darkness that would explain it.

Where do you go?

>Head back, this is 2spooky
>Follow the street to map out the rest of the city.

You tense up ready for a fight, but the fact that the figure coming into view looks like a hunched over boulder with craggy features charging at you is enough to make any one stutter to a stop in shock!

The creature takes a swing at you and you duck down and away from it your torch falling to the ground to highlight your battle while your horn sparks ready to engage in a fight!

Lot of reactions here, going to wait a bit longer to see what pops up.

Also the stone creature is about the size of a minotaur at a whopping seven foot to your little four foot frame. The arms on it remind you of a gorilla with how it walks and it's stance. The hallway you are in is about fifteen feet wide, so you could go around it, but most likely it will give chase.
>>
>>25957536
Well, I voted to run but flashing could be good too.
>>
>>25957536
Horn charged and primed you let it dim for a moment as the glow of the torch takes over casting shadows over the creatures face. Thinking it had scared you into submission the beast charges forth roaring loudly!

You snap your eyes shut as you let the spell loose blinding the creature as it claws at it's face!

Yet it is still moving towards you at speed, you quickly roll to the side sword drawn and ready to fight in your magical grip.

>>
>>25957791
>>25957841
Your sword looks to be of no use here, so you quickly stash it away and begin to run.

The beast roars again and flails about, but it's blows are uncordinated and clumsy. Leaving you free to escape from it's grasp. As it is you had to leave your torch behind as it was too far for you to reach with your magic.

Luckily you had managed to re position yourself around the beast so you could continue to explore the interior of the mountain. What small bits you can see gives you the impression of a large holding, the path you are on splits into three, one to the left and right each that has a gentle curve to it while the center one before you leads into the middle of the large cavern.

Near the edge of the center road you can make out a guard rail that shows a deep cavern below. If you squint your eyes and peer through the gloom you can just barely make out what looks like a deep trench that is on either side of the center path.

Meanwhile above you can just barely make out what looks like a series of vents that barely have any light shining from them, most likely from the moonlight as night has no doubt started to settle over the land. Near the ceiling you can make out what looks like roosts for fliers, could this city have been a commonwealth of different races? None the less with the roaring of the creature behind you as it begins to search you must decide quickly.

You gnaw at your lip wondering which way to go, you want to try the left, but the center looks like it might be promising as well. The roars of the beast have settled and you can hear it thumping in the dark drawing closer as it starts to search for you.

Better decide fast!
>>
>>25958112
Left then
>>
>>25958147
Running towards the left you quickly make your way round the street following it as it curves.

More houses with barred doors and red x's cover them as you run. However you find one door that has been left open, looking up at the hanging sign post you can make out the faint picture of a plant. It seems to be a herbalist shop. There might be something of worth within it.

Off to the side of the small shop you can see a small path that goes past it leading out from the mountain center you think. The street you're on continues however and you can see the outline of more buildings as well as a broken statue sitting near the entrance of something.

The thudding booms of the creature have faded by now as it has moved on from hunting you in the darkness. Or you lost it, either way not your problem now.

>Look in the shop
>Go Out from the Mountain Heart
>Go on the street and see what the statue is about.
>>
>>25958210
I think it would be best to go out from the mountain heart. We need another torch.
>>
>>25958247
You ignore the shop for now and quickly make your way towards the path that leads out of the heart. Soon you find that the path you have taken leads to more streets with boarded up doors and windows, yet there is another archway that leads into a library of sorts, at least that is what the clawed and scratched icon of a book tells you in front of the building. The other thing that takes your notice in your magic's dim light is the broken down wall that leads into the raw mountain flesh itself.

You also have two more torches left do you wish to use one as well?
>Yes
>No

Just curious, am I doing this quest thing ok? I was hoping to get better at writing things out and such.

I think you're doing a good job with the quest so far. I like that there is adventure everywhere you turn.

Trotting into the library you soon find that there are at least some things are constant. Shelves form hallways the hold tomes of long forgotten knowledge no doubt. However what you notice that not all is well are some shelves that have been knocked over, others destroyed by what looks like ax blows. One even has an old axe sticking out the wood on the second floor.

A stair case you can see is near at the back of the room, along the ground floor you see knocked over tables and chairs formed into a barricade that blocks the staircase. It almost looks like a last stand.

Lining the walls you can see empty torch scones a few hold still usable torches that could be used again.

Displays stand empty missing their historical pieces no doubt, though you do notice that one display has wires hanging from the ceiling. There are a few shelves on the floor you are on, though they look to be either burnt or thrown to the ground.

The ax is out of reach and up on the second floor, if you want to get it you will need to bypass the barricade.

Lighting the torches is a simple matter, soon the library has a more cozy feel to it despite the look of violence that had been done upon it in the past.

Looking through the books you find most are written in the same runes as before which is annoying to say the least. However you do find one that is written in Equestrian, or at least English, the debate of English and Equestrian being the same is for philosophers, you're just glad you can read this at least.

Skimming through it reveals that it's a history book of the city, called Hallow Halls, it was a city state founded by the dwarves long ago, yet for some reason they had died out when ponykind had found the city. Since then it had become a hub of trading for the locals allowing for a quick stop for sailors on their way from Equestria to Gryphonia. It even had a small Diamond Dog population as well that had helped support the city when the mountain had an earth quake some years ago.

That is all you can find out about so far, no explanation yet as to why the city has become so empty...
>>
>>25958961
Let's go up the barricade and get ourselves an axe.
>>
>>25958961
Take the book with you, and maybe one of the ones with the runes. We might find a way to translate it. Go check out the barricade after that

You soon make your way towards the barricade, it's a rather pitiful site as the flimsy wooden tables appear cracked and broken in some places. Clambering over the top of the obstruction you quickly enter the staircase and find yourself on the second floor. Following the pathway you soon find the book case that had been knocked over with the buried hatchet.

Magic lighting up you quickly grab the ax and frown as it seems lodged into the wood rather well. Post a response here to see if you are strong enough to pull it free!

With a yank, a tug and grimace of effort you finally pull the ax free of the wood with a shriek of metal rubbing wood. Shaking your head of the terrible noise you look over the weapon. It looks old, though sturdy enough for a few more good swings at least. Somewhat better than your sword seeing as the edge is still sharp compared to your own blade. You stash the ax in the belt loop of your chain mail and nod happily to yourself before perusing through the tomes and selecting one at random with the runic script to be translated back in town hopefully.

It's as you finish storing the book away do you hear a terrible shriek come from the front of the library that sends a tremor down your bones.

The torches you had lit from before waver from the sound but remain lit for now...

>What do?

I don't have any better way of using random chance unless I do it off screen and that hardly seems fair.
>>

Look down and see if whatever made that shriek comes to the light. Once it goes deeper into the library go down the stairs and then over the barricade and make a run for it.

It looks to have been attracted to the torches as it shambles towards the light of one torch and fumbles at it with a hoof before it falls and the pony crushes it beneath it's hooves. Then it goes after another torch that is on the other side of the room. You carefully make your way down the stairs one at a time making sure to be as quiet as can be when you soon reach the barricade by the time you are crouched behind the flimsy wood you can see that it is in the progress of moving to the other side of the hall to put out the other torches.

You might just be able to make for the door...or you could try something else. Either way you better be prepared for the consequences.

Choose an action and let's do your post number best of three to see what happens.

Making for the door you quickly sprint past the creature, momma didn't raise no idiot, when you have undead and cthulu tier monsters runnning around you get the hell out!

You however have the genius idea along the way to hit the creature hard with your new axe as you run past.

All you managed to do however is sever a tendril and the creature roars in agony before focusing on you. You skedadle out of the library however by the time it realizes what had happened. Now you are outside once more and have scant seconds to choose a path to run on.

Throwing caution to the wind you quickly take the right path running past the entrance of the cave leading into the mountain. When you enter the next portion of the city you are left at a loss of the designers of the city.

The entire corridor that you are in is left near abandoned and left in it's raw state aside from two major features to your left a large underground lake that you can hear a drip that echoes every so often in the cavern.

The other feature is a house with a knocked over fishing rack and a fishing pole that stands nearby against the two story house.

Ahead you can make out more another corridor that leads to a new section of the city. You can still hear the former pony shriek behind you in the library quarter, you had best hurry before it catches up.

Grabbing the fishing pole, might need that for later out on the ocean you quickly try the door hoping it will reveal a hiding spot. Yet the rattle of the door gives you nothing but a jangle of the door knob.

>>25960343
Cursing the locks of this place and how big it is you quickly make for the tunnel entrance and run towards it as another shriek sends you staggering from how loud the thing is! Stumbling you soon find yourself in an rather soothing area of the city though there is the unsettling feeling of being watched from the darkness.

The building to the right looks to be a temple of some sort, it's certainly grand enough to be one by your reckoning, there is another path to the left that leads into the center of the mountain again, and finally another segment ahead past the small pool of water that lays in the center of the chamber.

This place is getting silly in size now.

Alright temples should work to keep undead things at bay right?

Trotting up the stairs you quickly make your way inside and find that the temple of such a major city looks rather, spartan for lack of a better term. However you do see a small alter with a bowl of water laying upon it, the stairs most likely leading up to the second floor and there are two wings that make up the rest of the temple. Unfortunately there is no door for the temple for you to barricade however you do see some pews that line the outer walls...

There is a small feeling of unease that cripes up your spine the longer you stay within the marble walls appear pure, but they seem to hide a feeling of...taint.

We, might have a problem gents.

The creature has caught up to and the tendril you had hacked off earlier seems to have returned!

Seeing it start to shamble after you with a limp to it's gait you find you have two choices.

>Risk going across the pond in the square and into the heart of the mountain.
>Take the safer path by heading towards the tunnel away from the monster, hopefully this city has an end right?
>Or you stand your ground and fight it.

Gritting your teeth you quickly make a run across the pond sending water splashing all about you. Reacting to the noise the thing shreiks again and when you look back you wish you hadn't as the tendrils it had suddenly jut forward at you with deadly intent!

Ducking under one then jump over the other!

You roll where one more grazes your skin making you wince at the contact.

Thankfully you once more manage to avoid confronting the creature and soon find yourself back in the heart of the mountain. The first thing that you can see in your view is the guard rail that leads into the far cavern below. The next what looks like a shop selling first aid supplies.

Then there is that same strange blocky structure that you had seen from your first entry into the heart. If you didn't know better you think you're on the other side of of the heart now.

Lastly you see a side passage that is embedded in the wall, it doesn't look to lead into the blocky structure, instead it curves at a sharp right angle.

>Which do you choose?
>>
>>25961597
Let's get that first aid. I want to clean our wounds.
>>

You quickly check the door and find that it can open. Quickly you enter the building and lock the door behind you. Looking about in the shop you soon find shelves lining the wall with a small counter at your waist height. The shelves you notice are quite barren, there are also some stairs that lead to the second floor of the building. You start to investigate only to hold your breath as you hear low growling coming from outside the shop.

...

You think for a second that it will burst through the door at any moment, yet it soon passes leaving you to sigh in relief.

Now without a hell spawn chasing after you, you gingerly begin to search...

Searching [Success!]

A quick search soon reveals some good fortune! A roll of bandages, you quickly wrap them around the graze on your side with some help of your magic. Tightening it with a wince you soon trot carefully up stairs to look about, all that you can find however is a broken bed with stained sheets, a bedroom that has seen better days and the door leading out onto a balcony outside. Even with the grim circumstances the buildings lay out is almost claustrophobic but still rather cozy.

Nosing about in the bedroom reveals some torn clothes that would look like they might fit on a larger creature than yourself. Maybe a diamond dog? Or a Minotaur at least.

It looks like you have exhausted your search options within the building. You're also becoming rather tired from maintaining your light spell, it's supposed to be easy, but you have been running all day since you left town this morning.

Tiredly you draw out another torch from your saddle bags and soon enough with a bit of luck you ignite the brand letting its warmth chase away the chill of the mountain. Setting it upon a unlit brazier you quickly munch down upon some rations the biscuits and dried fruits tasteless on your tongue, but they are filling at least as they chase away your hunger.

You return down stairs to double check that the door is locked safely and for added insurance you bring a chair over to jam undernearth the door handle as an added insurance, never know it could work.

Home security taken care of, you make your way up the stairs to the bed, making a face you toss the sheets aside from the bed and crawl atop of it. Oh!~ It's got a feather mattress!

Weeeeelcome back to another session of Colony CYOA!

When we last left off our intrepid little scout had been sent out by his home to explore the local area. After engaging with a crockadile and finding a swamp the unicorn quickly fled to the mountain on the island to find much to his shock a city long sealed ago.

Through some quick wits and a power gem later he was able to gain access to the city and set about exploring. What he's found so far is a dead city without a single corpse, but a few monsters one of which was a abomination undead pony with tentacles that gave chase after him. Thankfully it was slow enough for our hero to hide away in a shop for first aid which was great as he needed to rest after such a harrowing journey.

Having taken a nap and eaten some rations our scout takes stock of his inventory.

>One worn sword
>One Sharp Ax
>One Book of The City's History-Equestrian
>One Random book in the city's tongue
>Two day's worth of rations
>One torch
>Chain Mail

Everything is in order for now, you get out of the bed and stretches before looking out the window of the first aid shop.

It look's like the dawn is starting to come once again as you can just barely make out outlines of the Heart of the Mountain from upstairs. Another thing to note is that the brand from last night has gone out leaving you with no source of light aside from your magic, again. So what should you do now?

>Finish exploring the city, there seems to be so much to explore!
>You've seen enough it's time to get out of dodge

>>

Making your way down stairs to the first floor you move the chair aside and quickly undo the bolt holding the door in place. Sliding the door open you spark your horn letting the soft blue magic light up the area around you. Taking a deep breath of the musty air you look about once more to take stock of your options, you can follow the right path that leads into the tunnel, it seems to take a sharp right turn. You could also go left following the guard rail around the heart of the mountain. There is also the path ahead that goes past the blocky building and goes near the broken structure that you can just barely make out from here. There is also the option to go back towards the temple quarter where you that spooky temple was as well.

Decide your path.

>Go right into the tunnel.
>Go straight to the odd broken structure and statues.
>Go left follow the guard rail.
>Go back to the spooky temple.
>>
>>25967451
Let's check the odd broken statues since they're on the way out anyway. We can always turn back and run to start following the guard rail.

>>25967505
As you make your way to the broken statues you soon discover that they are long lost icons of ponies of whom you are not sure as they have been struck down, but what draws your attention is the fact that there are a set of great double doors that had been forced open by something judging upon the wear and tear of the wood. Further in the gloom you can make out a seat, this might be in fact a throne of some sort!

Before you can investigate further you hear a skittering of something in the darkness that draws your fur up again. A quick furtive glance around reveals that there is another tunnel like the one before that turns inwards like a mirror image. As a matter of fact you think that on the other side of the throne room you can see where you had entered the heart from before!

Hurray you finally circled around in this stupidly big place!
>>
>>25967728
In the meantime what do you decide to do?
>>
>>25967741
Find the source of the skittering.

Let's go with the throne room and go out the other side. I wonder if we'll find our torch eventually too.
>>
>>25967756
You have a few options for that.
>Release a large flash spell in the area, resulting in letting everything know you are here and get a quick glimpse of whats around you.

Trotting to the exit you quickly cross the bridge and go into the ante chamber. From there you soon find yourself basking in the sunlight though the brightness of it all makes your eyes water at first.

Letting the glow of magic fade from your horn you quickly readjust to the view before you and take a breath of fresh air. Ahh, nothing like that first breath after a few close encounters.

From your new position you can see quite a few new vistas to explore, but for now the time is to return home. Up here you can spy a few routes to head back towards the town, which is thankfully not too far from where you are.

Well if he wants to play like that...

Lowering your head you narrow your eyes at the boar and paw at the ground. Letting out a heavy snort of your own you yell out as you charge forward horn lowered and ready to pierce!

The pigu makes the same move going for a full on charge at you!

Any moment now you both will crash into each other!

You grin.

Bending your knees you leap over the pig and gallop madly away losing none of your momentum. The poor pig is left skidding to a stop in surprise as you hastily shout out bye to him as you leave.

After making sure he can't catch up with a long stretch of galloping you soon find the ground turning from soft earth to loose sand that kicks up with each step. Eventually you find yourself in front of the big blue once more. Excellent!

Soon you are following the shoreline towards town, once you get there however you need to decide what to do!

The town comes into view from there you are hailed by the gate guards. Greeting them with some small jokes about the news of your death are greatly exaggerated you are allowed into the town.

As of yet the village looks more like a simple out post with a small docks for the ship, a single town hall that had been built prior to your arrival and the majority of ponies still living in tents as they unload the ship. Already however you can see foundations being poured out for housing and buildings galore. Craft pony's pass you by hauling long timbers to their work sites or moving stone for foundation. The whole camp is busy at work and a sense of purpose fills the air. None the less you have a job to do and make your way towards the townhall.

Once there you enter without much preamble and are told to wait outside the mayor's office. Soon the doors open and out troops a pair of fellow scouts one looking like had a mud bath while the other is giggling at the poor pony's misfortune. Giving a professional nod to the pair since you are a professional after all you hear a melodious voice call you in.

Tucking away a report into her desk the mayor turns her attention towards you and looks surprise before it settles into her easy going look.

>"Hello there, we had thought you were gone when you didn't report back last night. What happened?"

You breifly sum up your adventure so far and finish it with showing the book to her to see what she has to say.

>"Well this is an odd script, I will have to send it back to the mainland for a proper translation if you want. Although..."

The mare pulls out her drawer and begins to rummage around before pulling out a rather thick folder filled with many notes.

>"There may be a pony who could help you, she's an Equestrian archaeologist who knows more about ancient ruins than any other I know of. Of course as the finder it is entirely up to you on what you do with the book."

Currently you have ten bits to your name.

The mayor simply giggles at your suave attempts.
>"I would love to have lunch, unfortunately I am rather busy working through the paper work of the colony so I'm afraid I will have to decline. I do respect that your job is a dangerous one, but that is the choice you made after all."
Sinking a bit from your failed attempt the mayor speaks again.
>"Although I will let you have my name for free, it's Sunlit Flare, come back once you're done in town I might be available then."
Ending that statement with a wink the mare goes back to her papers as she reads them over, you have the feeling that you have been dismissed as of now.

With nothing else to do you decide to try and find that pony Sunlit had talked about. She might have some answers after all.

You wander around the camp trying to find her when you hear a crash and some shouting. Going to investigate you soon find that there a pony in a pith helmet shouting at some others for dropping a crate.

>"Be more careful with that! That equipment is highly delicate! You can't just drop it willy nilly!"

The two pony workers sigh before picking it up gently and go on their way. Meanwhile the pony catches you staring at her.

Handing over the book to her she quickly opens it and starts to read over it. At realizing what the script is she hurries over to her tent and pulls out a journal muttering to herself.
>"Koro phu cho sola...tin ni kin..."
You wait patiently before she looks up and squints at you.
>"Where did you find this exactly?"

ur mum's house, while i was explorin her p00sie
>>
>>25969645
we found it in a spooky underground city that had monsters.
we should try to find some side jobs here so we can make some bits.
>>
>>25969645
Someplace near.

Ask her about the expedition they're preparing for.

The mare looks to the side and licks her lips before she sidles up to you a bit closer.
>"Soo would you be willing to part with the book here and maybe leading me to where this city is?"
Reaching into her shirt the mare pulls out a big bag of bits and hefts it in her hoof.
>"I've got fifty bits I can give you right now for the book, another fifty if you can take me there."
You notice that she had left her shirt collar conspicuously unbuttoned showing a large amount of chest fluff for you to see, it's very soft looking.

Ask if we can keep some stuff we find as well.
Also, what's the value of a bit? is 100 bits a lot or is this chump change?
>>
>>25969767
I guess she can take the book though I'm not too sure about telling her where it is.
It's really not safe there and you shouldn't try to explore it.

F-fug.

Well we can't decipher the book ourselves so we don't know what it's worth. She might be selling us short.

We'll think it over.
>>25969822
Yeah. Might want to fill her in on the dangers of the cave.
>>
>>25969854
I'd fill her cave in with my danger, if you know what I mean.
>>
>>25969854
remember that "gives us a bad feeling" temple? Another thing that worries me is that something might be unleashed like a giant dog or something while excavating.
>>
>>25969802
>>25969822
>>25969854
For a day's rations you'd need to spend about a bit, for a night at the inn you have to spend three.

You agree to the selling of the book, though you do ask what exactly the book says to begin with.
>"Ah well it's a herbal book about the plant life around here. However some of these plants have been extinct for thousands of years, like Grey Leaf, that stuff has died out a long time ago by invasive species."
The mare shakes her head a bit to stop her rambling.
Giving you a sly grin the mare leans against your her body soft against your own and you have to bite your lip.
>"Sorry about that, now about where that city is..."
You stammer out a warning that the city is far too dangerous to explore, not to mention a temple that felt wrong to be in.
>"Pfft, i've been in plenty of dungeons before! It's not my first rodeo you know, granted they were all theoretical exercises, but I bet I can handle anything it can throw at me."
Tugging on your hoof the mare starts to lead you over to sit down at her tent where a small table is set up.
>"Here, sit enjoy yourself with some food, I think you'll make a better decision with something tasty I think."
It's true, before her is a smorgish board of treats from apples to pears and all manner of fruits with a small ornate tea set with three cups which she pours out one for you.

>Input?
>>
>>25969997
Damn, she really wants to go there.
did your training prepare you to fight an eight foot tall rock monster?
If not then don't tell her.
>>
>>25969997
>I think you'll make a better decision with something tasty I think
I spied something tasty before you spread out all the food.
>>
>>25970058
>>25970101
>"An eight foot tall rock monster? What did it look like? Was it malformed? Or did it have a structure to it? What about it's movements?"
The mare leans over her table looking excited by each detail she is able to prey out of you before she coughs and sits back down looking bashful.
>"Sorry it's just been a dream of mine to actually find my own ruin to make it big. This could be my big shot, but don't mind me enjoy I offered anyway."
Grinning you take an apple and bite into it mentioning something else that was tasty before you sat down.
>"What was that? I just your common everyday fruits here and some tea is all."
You lean over the table and wave her close saying it's a secret.
>"W-well what is it?"
You sneak a kiss on her, "You!"
>"Bwhua?!"
The mare jerks back as if burned even if her face looks like the sun had already done the job.
>"Y-you, you rapscallion how dare you take a lady's first kiss!"
Uhoh she's mad.

>Input
>>
>>25970301
apologize and say that you weren't aware she would have a first kiss to take when she's so pretty.
Anyway the rock monster had a structure.
Let's also mention the weird zombie pony we encountered that hates light for some reason.

Also don't stay in the mountain at night since it's very cold.
>>
>>25970301
"Oh hush, you liked it. Rest assured it won't be your last, if you'd like to join me in exploration. In any sense of the word."

Nose in the air, proudly accept the consequences.
>>
>>25970387
>>25970467
Giving her a roguish grin you merely respond you hadn't expected such a cute mare to still have her first kiss still.
>"Tch, you that..."
You also mention you be willing to help her explore in any sense of the word.
A small poof of steam escapes the mare as her face turns beet red in turn.
SLAP!
You wince bringing a hoof up to rub at your bruised cheek, in hind sight that may have been too much.
Before you can dwell on it you're neckline is roughly grabbed and you are dragged head to head with the mare.
>"Fine! Since you're so willing to help you can lead me to the city tomorrow, I'll make sure to have my expedition in order by that time and you can take us there."
She grinds her forehead into yours as she narrows her eyes at you.
>"And as for pay I'm thinking of a five percent cut of the find, rather generous I think."

>Input.
>>
>>25970583
Yeah, we got a kiss. Alright, we'll take her tomorrow.
Hooray, an escort mission.
Now let's go to the store and resupply ourselves.
>>
>>25970583
20 percent
>>
>>25970583

Listen honey, we're an adventurer. We didn't just find this place, we're going to be exploring it along with you. Which means a much greater share of the profits is in store. Say, 30%?
>>
>>25970583
50/50, we get first dibs.
>>
>>25970628
>>25970681
>>25970725
You agree to take her tomorrow in the morning then, however five percent is complete bull lark and you're not getting scammed.
"Fifty"
>"I beg your pardon? No! That's insane!"
"Forty then."
>"Ten."
"Thirty.'
>"Fifteen."
"Twenty."
>"Twenty five."
"Ha deal!"
The mare blinks in surprise and her jaw drops before she lets out a groan.
>"Fine! Twenty five it is! Now get out of here you crazy colt I have work to do."

Rather happy with yourself you oblige her and soon are making your way through the camp wondering around before coming to a larger tent that has been stabbed into the ground near the foundation of a building. Out front there is a sign reading, "General Store."

You did need to stock back up for a larger expedition anyway so! You walk up to the mare sitting under the shade seeing you approach she gestures to the table before you.
>"These are my wares, prices are next to them and non negotiable."

>For Sale
>Food - 1day - 1 bit

How long is the rope?
Does weight/encumbrance matter in this game?
>>
>>25970858
Let's get that rope.
5 candles.
4 torches
1 sleeping bag
4 food
3 water flask
this comes out to 31 bits. I think these are good things.
>>
>>25970912
The rope is about a good twenty feet length. Also not really I am just tracking by how many unique items you have more than weight, but if it gets silly than I might revise that.

>>25970927

Is this what everyone else is ok with?

I might get 2 more rope.
You can never have too much.
>>
>>25971002
You collect the items you want to buy and hand over the bits to her.
Once that is done the mare thanks you for her service and leans back in her chair to observe the camp go about it's business.
For now you have some free time on your hooves.
It is currently mid afternoon.

What do you decide to do with it?

Hey guys I'm getting a bit tired, might have to cut it short.

>>25971129
Let's try to find another adventurer to come with us at the inn.

I think we're supposed to also go out with the mayor.

rest then.

Let's do some looking around the town. Afterwards, we can head back to check on how the mayor's doing.

Sleep tight, sleepycomf.

Deciding on finding a fellow compadre to help you in your adventures you go towards the inn.

Well more like the area where the inn will be later built up to. In the meantime it's more of an open air inn with no walls aside from a few hastily up right sheets hung on rope and clothes pins. None the less they are offering mead, greens and tasty food for cheap. Most of the ponies who aren't at work are relaxing at the long tables that are set up just in front of the building's foundation.

For now most of the ponies are under the shade from the sun and enjoying chilled drinks with a light meal of roasted cashew nuts, dry biscuits and a small salad of assorted greens.

Taking a seat you find you get a feel for what you have to work with here.

yeah, last post of the night here, don't have any idea on how the other QM's keep it up like this. Thoughts so far?

Thanks for running.

Hope we can find a good adventurer.

>>25971445
Talk to ponies wearing armor or have a weapon.
Ask if they have anywhere to be or things to do.
Ask if they would like to join you in exploring some ruins.
>>
Let's hope we can find a pegasus to complete the trio of ponies going into that city.
