Really and truly, for a first quest, I think you're doing pretty good. Good pacing, good progression pushing prompts most of the time, nice flow of writing with very few errors. Characterization is also great, if not expected for an excitable little mare and a half-zebra raised colt (is Bodi adopted? I have to wonder.)
I'm not really the best to ask to be critical, especially when I'm enjoying something. My big question for you is on the art actually. Right now, aside from the map to an extent, it's mostly a text quest with cute art. Which nothing wrong with that, if that's what you're going for. I'm just used to art quests having stuff in the drawing for the players to react to and all. Like I said, if enjoying what you're doing, keep it up; I'm a fan, at least.
Really, hard to critique something that is overall good. Keep going and get to the bigger story beyond raft-building and might verge into fantastic.
All of that said, if any of the newer quests want one anon's opinion on their quest, ask. Plan to potentially do some long-running quests, but catching up on a quarter million words isn't very easy, especially when I read at the speed of a glacier.

I don't like throwing out 'muh opinions' defense but that is pretty subjective. And people who played it were crazy about it and singing praises while it was running, so the hype is not nostalgia. It's not perfect and most quests are at least as good as it but I can't think of any that are particularly 'better'.
There sure isn't any of the ARG stuff in most games, except a few pieces here and there but none on the level Renne was, so no quest really out did that.
Most Horror CYOAs are either too dead to really stack up (Greyscale, Unique, That Octavia one, Aura Quest) or focus more on other things than just horror (NE has a lot of character interaction and not too many spoops for example) so I can't think of any in it's genre that outclasses it.

I guess I should explain a little more. I've been using Gimp for years. I know where everything it. But It's been crashing on me more and more over the years and I'm not sure if the New version that just got released is going to fix those things.
I think I'm atually faster with sai but I haven't figured out how to set brushes to de what I want or adjust their sesitivity properly yet. So current'y adding shadows in sai and brush size control via pressure are all fucked up whn I use Sai. which is why I've been using two tone shados in sai when I do add them in. 11-54 is about 70's in dark rooms so for that quest shading is more important than everything else I've ran.

I'm thinking up of an adventure quest but I think it may be too similar to some of the current CYOAs out there (Namely Hijacker).
You play as a small group of mercenaries/adventurers that are trying to start an Adventurers Guild. The players can choose which mission they want, which can range from expeditions, guarding important ponies, assassination/capturing a pony, or anything a traditional DnD group might get sucked into. Then the players can choose a number of adventurers out of a steadily growing pool to go tackle the mission and it plays out like a normal quest until they complete/fail it. And they can fail it, since new adventurers can just be hired on perma-death is a real possibility should things go full FUBAR.
I'd also take mini-breaks in between each Job so I A: Don't get burned out and B: Can prepare for the next mission the players choose since they will change each time and old quests that weren't completed will either be resolved/the job will become unavailable.
There'd also be a little bit of management on the side where I'd run a little mid-job session where you can spend the bits you earned in the last quest to upgrade the Guild, whether that is making improvements to the building or hiring replacement adventurers/getting better gear or training for your current ones.Hoping to have an X-com feel where the veterans are worth the lives of 20 rookies
