Welcome to the game. You are currently in control of a party of six adventurers. Your objective is to guide them through the dungeon with as few problems as possible. The dungeon will be working against you. Orders issued may be as specific as you wish; every scrap of the dungeon displayed may be used to your aid. You can specify if you want a certain character to perform the task, orders given without a specific character will be actioned by a (capable) random party member.

Before we continue, let us examine our party members. They are split into two groups; fighters and specialists. The fighters are close combat specialists, and the most straight forward, so we shall cover them first. The first of your three fighters is the legendary Dragon Slayer. He is a formidable fighter, armed with a lance and heavy metal barding. His speciality is that he may shrug off some damage taken, though the elements (fire, ice, etc) will still hurt him. Secondly is the Gladiator, a cunning and vicious fighter that can turn the tide on their opponents. Should her opponent miss her, she immediately gains a retaliatory counter-strike against them. Lastly is the Mystic Warrior, a martial artist expert who can perform combo attacks. Each successful blow against an opponent will grant a bonus to strike them again. This continues until the combo is broken by a miss, or the opponent is dead.

Our specialists are a varied bunch, but perform useful actions outside of directly wounding their opponents. Once spent, their abilities are gone. Use them wisely. The Cleric strikes with her holy sigil in melee, and can heal a random amount of wounds six times. The Ranger attacks with her crossbow, and can launch a bundle of smoke bombs three times. The Magic-User is the most diverse of the three and has access to a number of abilities. He can summon Shadow Puppets to shamble about the dungeon as decoys. He may do this three times. He can summon a Magic Barrier three times which may be used to block up passages or for use as bridges. He can cast Slow Fall on a target twice, which as the name suggests slows the descent of falling to a safe glide. Lastly he has access to the Polymorph spell, which he can cast twice, that reduces the target to a harmless critter.

I'm beginning to believe that this party may be very very doomed.
We need to ask our cleric if there is a way to regenerate our mystic warrior's missing limb.
If there isn't a way we need to give him a kick ass replacement like a hook, a spiky mace, a dildo that he can call "The Penetrator or a short sword.

The party wander through the short tunnel to an open cavern. Light streams in from holes in the roof of the cavern, providing decent light. They are standing before a large bridge leading towards an underground settlement. The bridge crosses over a bed of water that teems with life, and the acoustics of the room greatly amplify the rush of the waterfall in the background.

The Ranger has a look over at the fishing pole and finds it has snagged something small in the water below.

The Magic User and Cleric examine the pillars at the start of the bridge. Upon closer inspection it would seem these pillars are actually made out of some kind of fungus. The bulbous head dims when the pair get near, and brightens when they step away. There does not appear to be any sort of mechanism placed near or on it.

The group take time to look up at the cavernous ceiling. Sunlight pours in through the holes, as do creeping vines and other assorted flora. As they're looking up, they inspect the window over the settlement entrance. It stands there watching them for a few more minutes before turning about and leaving. The Magic-User, in spite of his fanciful floating staff, cannot cast even the most basic forms of telekinesis. Even thinking about it is bringing up terrible memories of his studies at the academy. The item in the water could be pulled up by using the fishing rod itself. Not willing to risk another trap on the bridge, or by the fungus, the party consider rolling or launching something down the bridge. The Dragon Slayer kills two birds with one stone by bucking the huge fungal stalk onto the bridge.

The mistrust of the merfolk is not misplaced. No sooner had the warriors made eye contact did the Dragon Slayer and Mystic Warrior immediately start wrestling for marriage rights. Finally some good luck! The ranger manages to fish out the trinket that had been caught on the hook and it has turned out to be an enchanted amulet of Impetus Flight. It boosts the wearers speed greatly for ten seconds, then requires five minutes to cool off. Secondly the expedition into the tent has revealed it to be an alchemist, or shaman's, tent. Inside are various herbs and and blankets for sleeping, but what draws the group's attention are the three flasks on the desk. One is a vibrant yellow which faintly shimmers, one is a pale grey solution that has no outstanding visuals, and the pink flask bubbles away furiously.

The group takes the three potions and experiments with them. They drip them onto the still living fungal stalk, as well as the corpse of the merfolk. What's quickly apparent is that the pink flask is some kind of highly caustic acid that eats right through flesh. It doesn't do so well against rock through. The other two potions are oddities. The yellow one, when splashed on the still living stalk, caused it to shudder and grow a little, whereas the pale one didn't appear to have any effect. Neither the pale nor the yellow potions had any effect on the corpse. The group could attempt to combine all of three into one potion, as there are numerous potions & flasks still left in the alchemist's tent.

The party decide caution is the better side of valour, and leave the statue be. The Dragon Slayer leads the way down the tunnel. As the group is walking they can hear the sound of rushing water echoing down the tunnel, getting louder as they continue on. As the Dragon Slayer exits the tunnel into the next chamber he holds a hoof up for pause.

The group have entered a large chasm with a flowing waterfall, likely coming from the first chamber they entered with the huge statue with the vase. Directly ahead of them is a stable looking, but perilous natural walkway that would take them along the chasm and into the chamber directly opposite them. The Dragon Slayer can also make out a turning before the next chamber as well, so this walkway leads to two separate locations. What is most imminently concerning is the presence of a building jutting out of the natural cavern wall. The building has two stories to it, but only one of them has a window. In the window the Dragon Slayer can make out three Changelings. It's unlikely they will hear the group over the sound of the roaring waterfall, but should they travel too far along the walkway they will certainly spot them. The group pause for a moment, out of the Changeling's sight, to consider their options.

[End of session for today!]

I feel like going down this path will require some commitment. That being said, I think there's some wisdom in going back the way we came and exploring a different route. That way, we won't have to worry about crossing back this way later, and maybe we'll get lucky and the changelings will be gone by time we return.

Agreed. We don't really have a way of circumventing the sentries right now.

I kind of want to take that other turning. Though that's just my curiosity talking.

It would be better to wait for those changelings to leave.

The party back it up down the tunnel and head back the way they came. The only other route they have left is through the main gates of the settlement. As they may their way over the worn stone floor the Ranger's ears prick up and she quietly calls the party to a stop. She can hear murmured chatter of Changeling tongue echoing in the large chamber at the end of this road. It's too dark to make out much detail from here, but the Ranger's keen ears determine the conversation is coming from around the corner. If they play their card right, the group might be able to ambush them.

The party takes time to soak in their surroundings. On their immediate right is an old pottery stall, now long since abandoned and gathering dust. Just beyond that is a short corridor leading into a long house.

"I recognise that icon," the Cleric speaks up, gesturing to the banner in the long house. "It's a sigil for the Old Gods; a marking for hallowed grounds in which the Changelings perform services."

Beyond that they can see a splintered door, buckling as some weight presses against it from the other side. A heavy streak of mucus leaks out from under the door. At the centre of the road is a crashed out wagon that the group recognise as being Equestrian in construction. There's some assorted goods scattered around it. Next to that is a sharp turning off left, leading further into the settlement.

The long house opens up into a fully fledged chapel, complete with pulpit. There is even an annex at the rear which is opened up. The Ranger creeps further north and spies a book on esoteric subjects on the pulpit. It doesn't look like any religious text she's ever seen.

The Mystic Warrior pokes his head in to the rear room and finds it to be a lab of some kind. There are numerous books and oddities here, but most noteworthy are the two 'Summon' scrolls; what they actually summon is anybody's guess, and a very sinister looking small box on top of an enchantment crystal.

Have the lancer hang back and watch the corridor while everyone else joins them. The mystic can grab the scrolls. The magic user and the gladiator should approach the pulpit and check out the annex.

The group, sans the Dragon Slayer, enter the chapel and poke about. The Mystic Warrior snatches the Summon scrolls and stows them away with the rest of the treasure he's carrying. The Magic-User and Gladiator head up to the pulpit and look about. They can't find anything up here of note, other than the book.

As the group is milling about in the chapel, an armoured Changeling saunters out into the corridor. He's not spotted the Dragon Slayer yet.

>approach the pulpit and check out the annex.
[Sorry, the annex was the room the mystic warrior is in, there's no other rooms off the chapel]

>>25850719
The slayer should tap on the opposite side of the pillar he's next to to draw the changeling down. The ranger and cleric should move behind the closest corner to get out of sight. Have the mystic and gladiator stack up behind the door in the rear room. When the changeling walks past they ambush him. Try to keep him alive for information.

>Sans the dragon slayer.
The dragon slayer's name is now Sans.

We need to unsplit the party. Have our dragon slayer throw a rock at the mouth of the chapel. When the changeling goes to investigate have Sans run him through from behind.

Also, after we've cleared this encounter we need to come up with a passphrase to shout when a changeling impersonates one of our party so we know who the real one is.

Given some kind of magic maybe, but otherwise how could they possibly form a plan like that while they're all separated?
>>
>>25859500
Because that's how the party works?
This is going to get way too complicated if we have to juggle the party members knowing different things when we know everything.
Also why would the dragon slayer stand there to watch if it leaves him with no way of warning the others?

>This is going to get way too complicated if we have to juggle the party members knowing different things
Then maybe in the future we shouldn't split them up.
>>25859531
>Also why would the dragon slayer stand there to watch if it leaves him with no way of warning the others?
I don't know why he would do that. We're the ones who did it though, so I guess the best explanation is because we didn't think of a method for him to warn the others.

Or at least that's how I'm interpreting the game. Obviously we're going to need a dm verdict to know which ruleset we're using.
>>
>>25859804
What's the point of a party that can't split themselves across a single area?
I don't see any fun in babysitting every member by giving each one instructions on how to communicate in every area.
We shouldn't have to write out a page for every update.
