ya for strait line speed that's true but the Squint will always have better agility and maneuverability. Ys are great as Hit and fade bombers and general space superiority but if you are expecting Squints or better oposition you either need some A wing escorts or a couple X wing jockeys to back you up.

You never heard of the holy grail of awfulness that is the Star Wars Holiday Special? Jesus Christ, how can you be part of the internet culture and not know about that?

In a nutshell, it was made in 1978, one year after A New Hope came out and SW was the hit of the time. The special was supposedly about Chewbaca trying to get home to his homeplanet to celebrate "Life Day" with his family, but really, it was just an excuse for shitty jokes around chewies Wookie Family and shit they watched on holo tv. And Wookie masturbation.
The special was so bad, Hamil and Fisher who played also par tin it got wasted on alcohol during the scene shooting (which you can see) and it was considered so awful, Lucas himself called it non canon. The guy is willing to excuse Jar Jar Binks, this was something he disowned. In fact, he once went on record of saying if he had the time and a sledgehammer, he would destroy every copy of it.
