How does no one in the entire town of Ponyville realize that they've got the Equestrian equivalent of Godzilla living right under their noses?
Seriously, one slip-up in Spike's zen state of self-denial, and the whole town is gone. For that matter, the whole kingdom is boned unless at least two Alicorns team up or Discord decides to save them all for reasons.

I can't be the only person who wants to see one, just ONE episode where Spike actually has to go full dragon form to protect Ponyville or Canterlot. Some plebian unicorn with a -semi-unique ability that no one else has been able to stop tries to go up against him, then pic related happens.
>>

>this again
Twilight was casting that CRAZY powerful spell over and over again, she had to escape each new timeline, and then had to fight.

All Starlight did was sit on her ass and wait. Not really a fair fight, but smart on Star's part.
>>
>>25805721
Fair enough, but we still never see her perform any magical acts that she couldn't have done as a simple unicorn after S3. She stopped pushing herself in magic and started just working on being the Princess of Friendship, so it kind of stands to reason that someone who's been studying longer would be at least as strong.
Personally, it doesn't bother me either way. I just have a feeling in my bones that Spike could lay out an Alicorn. Not like we're ever going to get canon confirmation, anyway.
>>

>Spike being the equivalent to Godzilla
Ok, so Spike isn't a dragon, but instead a giant creature that is actually an irradiated animal from the prehistoric age that's a cross between ancient marine reptiles and the dinosaurs, has a healing factor that makes Wolverine and Deadpool look like goddam chumps, absorbs radiation and emits and can emit said radiation at a lethal amount, breathes atomic fire from his maw, sentient, not only survives atomic bombs but can practically eat them, and is fucking invincible?

Yeah, I know it's just a comparison, but still. Unless they is a way someone could make Spike's story work as him being Godzilla, then I remain adamant.
>>
>>25805496
He's Twi's/Rararara's fuccboi and only gets like that if he gets greedy, something the former has been keeping an eye on since the last time.

We don't know if Spike's egg was a dragon egg for sure. It was thought to be a dragon egg, but it's origin is unknown. It could have been a dinosaur egg. The magic from Twilight when she blasted his egg was radioactive and magical and made Spike's dormant egg hatch. He eats gems and other Earth materials because they carry slight magical and radioactive properties, thus he eats the radiation and gains a magical fire that can teleport shit from the magical properties of the gems. Thus we can say it is plausible that Spike is a Godzilla...I just made my first headcanon...

>>
>>25810079
Pretty sure those were just motion spells that were used to hold things, then she just didn't move them.
Same thing she did against the Ursa Minor, just in reverse. I feel as though holding groups of ponies would be easier than moving massive structures through a town and levitating a bear the size of a three-story building.

>Unified Field Theory Activate
Magic is basically raw psychokinetic energy the way it's used in the show, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the brain.
Spike was born through a magical process, therefore was literally born from EM radiation.
This also explains why he is never harmed by magic, or even suffers any adverse effects from it. He's immune to fire, being a dragon, and magic, being born from it. As for emitting the radiation, that's his fire. It's simply turned back into psychokinetic form by usage, meaning Spike could be the only being in Equestria who can use magic with no horn.
As for the healing factor, we've basically eliminated everything except Chaos magic (completely different thing there) that can hurt him, so there's no way to determine that one way or the other.
Can't really be killed as an adult, either. If you look at the size comparison between his adult form and the ones seen during the clip of the dragon migration, he's almost 25% larger.
>>
>>25805496

>>25809765
I have a headcanon that explains why the test for entrance to the school was hatching Spike. But its just headcanon so not worth jack shit in the long run and is retarded.
Spike's egg is the key that Starswirl used to keep Grogar locked in the shadow world when he attempted to escape during his time. The reason he choose Spike's egg to be the keystone for the seal is because it was an important symbol from his adoptive father. He was a former dragonslaying gryphon. Dragons were evil heartless greedy beasts with no soul and a love for murder and destruction according to, well, everyone who lived back then. He took Spike's egg under his care after he slayed his weak hoardless father when he realized that all those he had killed were only killed in protection his only treasure, his unhatched son. He saw himself protecting his daughter in that dragon's final actions. Following this experience, Starswirl's adoptive gryphon father to became far more worldly and very slowly abandoned the xenophobia that was a hallmark of all races at the time, but especially the gryphons.
He began raising his daughter according to his developing attitudes and even adopted a unicorn colt whose family was destroyed due to the on going war with the gryphon kingdom, Starswirl. This childhood of being taught understanding, not pacifism, fighting and war were necessities in his father's eyes, with a complete lack of unnecessary vilification is what eventually led to his befriending of Scorpan in his twilight years.
Spike's egg was a symbol of this new attitude and throughout his life Starswirl's gryphon father tried to hatch the egg but never succeeded. Starswirl himself took up the attempts but even with all his magical talent with all his years of experience he could not hatch it. Eventually, he passed this onto Celestia, Luna, and Clover the Clever. Clover, had the clever idea of using the students to attempt to hatch it.
>>
>>25817385
Or, a simpler theory. It was a dud egg. The test was to gauge power and control, not actually hatch the egg, otherwise every student would have a baby dragon. Filly Twi created life a la a Homunculus
>>
Because the payoff for properly friendshiping spike and making him part of equestrian harmony culture means they have a dragon on their side. Something they have only ever been equals to or cautionary of. Having spike eliminates the danger he would have represented as well as bolsters against other dangers. Same with discord. No longer at risk of a god of chaos whims and to now have that gods power part of your owns. Equestria is the hegemon because of things like this, same with the WMD that is the elements of harmony.

Godzilla vs Spike, Equestria's Godzilla. Who wins?
>>
>>25805496
Spike has friends in high places. He started as the attendant to Princess Celestia's envoy to make sure that the festival celebrating her awesomeness was up to par, and now he's a war hero and attendant to another princess, while still being connected to Celestia.

What are they going to do? Hell, what would they do even if he didn't have those connections? It's a bad idea to pick on the guy who can destroy the town.
>>
>>25805679
I don't think they'll touch dragon greed again. Maybe someone attacks one of the alicorns with an age spell that ages someone 10,000 years or something to try to kill them and Spike takes the hit? That would have a nice karmic retribution ending, have Spike being useful in a believable way that doesn't contradict his character as it is now, and would still keep it an outside agency creating the powerup so that the writers could then ignore Spike's abilities in the long term as seems to be the poilicy.

>Godzilla, king of all beasts, immortal defender of Earth, bursts forward from a slumber that would shame even the God of Chaos, Discord.
>In his time spent asleep, humans have doomed themselves thoroughly, leaving ponies as the new dominant species.
>Unfortunately for Godzilla, these little pastel horses won't be as easy to squash as he might think.
>Godzilla begins his rampage by utterly annihilating the first city he comes across, a small town on the plains, surrounded by apple trees.
>Dozens of magical blasts are fired at him, but they simply absorb into his already massive strength.
>Meanwhile, in Canterlot, the Princesses are just hearing of this new threat, and it is rapidly determined that there is only one way to effectively deal with such a creature.
>Spike, the young dragon who serves as the accompaniment to the Princess of Friendship, is called to attend.
>Celestia begins the conversation, as Twilight is unable to speak through her tears.
>"Young Spike...perhaps you have heard of the threat advancing on Canterlot."
"You mean the huge monster, right?"
>"Correct. We have seen it's capabilities, and discovered that it is immune to magic. As such...we are left with only one option. Spike, you must be the one to do battle with this creature. The fate of Equestria lies with you."
>jawdrop.jpg
"Oh...a-alright, Princess. What do I need to do?"
>Celestia sighs and gestures to a guard.
>"Follow him, and everything else will sort itself out."
>Spike follows the guard through a series of hallways that seem to get smaller and smaller until finally the walls cease to be designed and are simply rocks.
>The Canterlot Caves.
>The guard steps aside, allowing Spike to enter, and then rushes back as Spike begins to take in what lies before him.
>Hundreds...no, thousands...no, MILLIONS of gems, emeralds, rubies, sapphires...
>Spike licks his lips, and sets off toward his prize, not noticing he's gained about a foot in height.
>>
>>25818585
>Approximately ten hours later, Godzilla finally reaches Canterlot, thoroughly energized by the thousands of magical blasts fired upon him by the bystanders of his attacks.
>He draws back his head, preparing to blast the castle off of the map with a burst of radiation, when the ground beneath him begins to shake more than is usual.
>He stumbles back as the corner of the mountain is ripped open, sending boulders flying everywhere.
>From within the new crater emerges a massive creature, purple and green, who is barreling smoke from both nostrils.
>They stare one another down for a few moments, the tension unbelievably high between these two apex predators.
>Only one pony dares step into the midst of them.
>A white mare with a dark purple mane, tiny by comparison, leaps right in front of Spike.
>Both of the monsters notice her in passing, but neither makes any move toward her until Godzilla takes a step forward.
>His huge foot is preparing to crash down on her, when suddenly he is shoved straight backwards by Spike, who bends down to pick up the mare.
>He places her on the base of the mountain as Godzilla regains his footing, and then the two begin for real.
>Godzilla gives a mighty screech as he charges, lifting both arms up and crashing them down onto Spike's shoulders.
>The dragon mirrors the motion, and the two shove against one another, cracking the earth between them into a fissure in their struggle for power.
>Soon, though, it is evident that Godzilla wins this round as he begins to push Spike backward, forcing him to lean over the city.
>Spike struggles desperately against the death grip of the ancient monster, but to no avail.
>As a last resort, he reaches out with his long, draconian neck, and sinks his teeth into Godzilla's shoulder.
>A veritable fountain of blood spews from the wound, and Godzilla releases half of his grip, slinging Spike around with the other hand and tossing him away from the mountain.
>>
>>25818650
>Spike sticks the landing, but is scarcely prepared for Godzilla's almost instant blast of radiation.
>The huge beam being fired by the terror of Tokyo smashes into Spike's chest, threatening to melt the scales right off.
>Smoke and dust fly up around him, obscuring even his gargantuan form, and all that escapes the cloud is a monstrous scream.
>There are a few moments of desperate tension as the smoke begins to clear.
>Without warning, Spike bursts free of the cloud of smoke, body checking Godzilla into the mountain as he goes.
>Godzilla's tail swings around, catching him by the leg and dragging it backwards, planting Spike's head in the rock face close to the peak.
>Godzilla steps around behind Spike, grabbing his wrists and pulling them backward until they touch behind the dragon's back.
>Spike struggles against the hold, but his efforts are in vain, as Godzilla's grip is now firmly locked.
>Finding himself with no other choice, Spike buries his muzzle in the granite of the mountain with a single headbutt and throws his back legs up, delivering a double footed kick to Godzilla's stomach.
>The grey monster stumbles backward, screeching in primal anger.
>Spike yanks his face free of the mountainside, shaking his head from the shock of burying it there in the first place, and turns back to face his foe.
>Godzilla rushes forward, this time not holding anything back as he bends both legs and launches into the air, coming down on Spike with both legs.
>The dragon is almost crushed under the impact, but manages to take the brunt of the hit on his knees, which he uses to balance the full weight of Godzilla on his legs as he takes a knee and grasps the back of 'Zilla's legs, planting them on the edges of the extended knee..
>Godzilla swipes back and forth at Spike's body, but his form simply won't allow him to bend enough to get a solid hit in.
>>
>>25818775
>Spike leaps straight upward, forcing Godzilla to fall onto his back while Spike lands beside him.
>Spike brings back one hand, claws extended and gleaming in the sun.
>He rakes it across Godzilla's stomach, the gray monster helpless as a massive cut opens on his abdomen.
>Spike is confused, however, when the cut begins to heal almost instantly.
>Godzilla begins to flex, rolling onto his side.
>He flings his tail out, tripping Spike and sending him crashing to his knees.
>Spike, in a last gasp against this seemingly unstoppable foe, rushes forward, still on his knees, and grabs Godzilla by the neck.
>Spike pins him to the ground, yanking open his mouth and using the hand that was already on Godzilla's neck to grab his jaw instead.
>With a roar of rage and desperation, Spike rips the two apart, sending the skull of the mighty Godzilla flying through the air.
>Spike falls to the ground, completely exhausted, beside the only worthy foe he has ever encountered, and begins to silently weep with regret.

K.O.
Victory goes to: Spike.

I feel like pic related will happen if I don't explain, so here.

Synopsis: Sorry to all Godzilla fans, but Spike actually does have to take this one. His natural immunity to magical harm carries over to Godzilla's radiation beam, which served only to make him stronger for the duration of the fight. I understand that Spike didn't use his fire during this battle, but the reason is that his feral instincts would see Godzilla as a dragon, which would naturally negate fire as an option in his mind.
Spike is also naturally faster than Godzilla, and more nimble when one considers that Godzilla's body is more of a lump with comparatively small limbs than anything else. Spike's biological design resembles a human's more than anything else, meaning he had the dexterity to pull off moves that Godzilla couldn't counter.
Godzilla's healing ability gave him a few minor assists, mostly in recovering from battle wounds, obviously. Unfortunately, even an ability like that will not save him if his head gets ripped off.
Oh, and for those of you who doubt the plausibility of the knee balance move Spike pulled off, it is actually possible for a being designed like Spike to balance double his weight on one knee, if it's done properly. Humans can do it.
In the end, Godzilla just didn't have the moves to stay with the kid.

Accepted. Spike is retarded because he was a dead egg brought to life by twi. He also has no soul.

I'm sorry, but Spike can't survive black holes. Godzilla can. Not to mention Godzilla could take the blows from Spike even if his healing factor wouldn't save him. Godzilla's hide is far more thicker than Spike's. Plus, Spike would need a healing factor himself. He doens't. Spike is fast, but he is no immovable object. Godzilla can destroy creatures far faster than him that are also radioactive. The creature Zilla in 1998 is a prime example. Zilla is a radioactive marine iguana that is very nimble. When comfronted with Godzilla, Zilla was OBLITERATED. The battle wasn't even a full minute, and he was killed by Godzilla's atomic breath (which is Radioactive). Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPxhdo4HDgg

Godzilla has also displayed nimbleness in fighting too. The only times he was clumsy was in the 1990's "Hesei" film series. The rest of them he's pretty maneuverable. He walks slowly, but can fight with tooth and claw much faster. There is no way Spike could win.
He's not even near Godzilla's level. For fuck's sake, not even HELL ITSELF could handle Godzilla. Godzilla BEAT HELL. How the fuck do you do that?

God I need to get laid more often.
>>
>>25819296
We...don't actually know any of this about Spike. His upper limits were never tested, and to be fair, Tartarus would be the closest thing in Equestria to a hell, and Spike would utterly terrify anything in Tartarus that we've seen.
Dragon scales have been shown to be immune to penetration, even down to something as small as a needle, meaning that no, Godzilla's hide is no thicker than Spike's.
That, and it wasn't the fact that he wasn't fast enough that lost him the fight, really, it was the fact that he was fighting something with a longer reach than himself. Spike's arms are almost human, whereas Godzilla's are a strange hybrid between human and T. Rex.
>>
>>25819296
That, and I already stated that Godzilla was stronger than Spike. They're both capable of lifting each other, but in a push contest, Godzilla wins.
>>
Somewhat off topic, but are the Godzilla movies any good? The 1999 movie wasn't that great, but it looks like a fun franchise to get into.
>>
>>25819689
They're all pretty decent after that point, except for the one from 2004. Before 1999, they're great for a good laugh, just because...well, pre-CGI monster movies have a tendency to be like that.

Discord's alter ego, Q, saved Picard and his ship lots of times for "reasons" so I always bet on Discord.
>>
I would love to see Fluttershy trying to tame Godzilla, or Spikezilla for that matter. It'd be that weird combination of hilarious and adorable.
>>
>>25819723
Q only manipulated the Enterprise into circumstances where their ingenuity could save them, and most of the time the only danger was what he was throwing at them. Unless Discord's directly responsible and needs to challenge Equestria into asking for help, he probably wouldn't do fuck-all unless maybe Fluttershy was in mortal danger. But then again, he did throw her under the bus to ride Tirek's dick, so even that's up in the air.

Basically, he'd never use his power directly towards something helpful unless it's undoing his own mess.

I'm pretty sure he put them in a cage to keep them safe during the fight. I mean, come on, here. This is Discord, the only villain to EVER outsmart Twilight, and we're supposed to believe that some 2nd rate centaur was able to smooth-talk him into destroying the most valuable (and only) friendship in his possession?
I don't think so. At the very least, Discord would have layed Tirek out if he had dared place a hand on Fluttershy.
But...yeah, I wouldn't count on him actually helping with a problem like this unless basically everything was at stake.

Just because Discord's smart, doesn't mean he's the only villain who can have a brain. He may have initially been humoring Tirek, but then he genuinely got played after getting convinced that partnership could last, and work to his benefit. Like you said, he only really had one friendship at stake, and Tirek offered him a chance to hang with someone he could relate with, plus have the bonus of getting an enabler who'd even appreciate his work.

If anything, Tirek had a one-up on him - since he isn't afraid to take the direct approach to get shit done, and was only defeated through means he couldn't have possibly saw coming. Discord trips over plenty of obvious contingencies that fall under his blind spots all the time.
>>
>>25821240
I'm not saying he planned the whole thing out by any means, but I heavily doubt that he would have allowed Tirek to seriously harm any of the others, especially not Fluttershy.
For starters, he'd already proven he's a double crosser, and he'd also shown that he knew it'd take all of the m6 to beat Tirek. He'd make sure they stayed alive as an insurance policy if nothing else.
These Tirek posts are making me think, tho....
If Spike is immune to magic, could Tirek really beat him? Even with the power of 4 Alicorns, he could only effectively beat Spike via fisticuffs, since 1) no magic and 2) dragon hide is penetration-proof.
>>
>>25821404
That's a good question. He might have the edge in using magic for other than blasting shit (like levitation/stunning creatures in place, plus probably other stuff he hasn't done on-screen) but Spike also has fire breath, and it's not clear how well Tirek could deal against that.

Also. Just how big DID he get at maximum power, anyways? He looked like he became fucking colossal after taking on that Alicorn Magic, but then the animators fucked up the perspective to make him seem like he was still the same size as when he fought Princess Twilight when he was defeated. Was that his maximum size, and the excess magic just channeled into raw fire power, rather than extra size+strength? If so, I guess he'd be on an even level with Spike, height wise.

I know, he looked like he became full on giant class, in which case he'd stand with Spike on the height scale.
Strength wise, we know Tirek has the strength of every Earth Pony plus every Alicorn, which equates to 8 Alicorns worth of physical strength.
I dunno, we never really see that many feats of raw horsepower in the show, especially not from the Alicorns. We know Twilight is door-ripping strong when she's boosted from the others, but it's still low tier compared to a dragon.
Spike was easily the size of a mediocre mountain, and while we don't have a legitimate cap or minimum for his strength...well, let's just say he's swole.
I would have to give the raw strength battle to Spike, although Tirek actually has a superior fighting physique this time, as opposed to the Godzilla battle.
Give me a little while to look into it, then I'll do up another greentext battle.

Alright, I've seen what I can see. Here's the battle between Adult Spike and Tirek, starting with the setup. This battle will take place in the alternate timeline of the desolated world in the S5 finale, just cause there's nothing to break there.

>Spike has slept on these plains for thirty years now, hoarding the jewels that he's blackmailed the Diamond Dogs into finding for him.
>He destroyed the town of Ponyville that stood here some time ago, relishing in the destruction.
>He was made rudely aware of the end of this cruel peace, however, when a shockingly deep voice echoed across the plain to his ears.
>"DRAGON BOY!"
>Spike lifts his head, coming quickly to one knee as he surveys the horizon for the source of the voice.
>It presents itself rather quickly, and Spike licks his snout in anticipation as a massive centaur steps toward him, the first opponent to match his size in years.
>"I have heard, Spike, that you were responsible for the destruction of Ponyville. The magic in this town was mine to take, and I will not forgive you for robbing me of such a sweet morsel."
>Spike regains his full height, still hunched in an animalistic pose, and releases a single, mighty battle roar.
>"Good, we feel the same way."
>>
>>25824187

>Tirek doesn't hesitate, and immediately launches a massive bolt of magical energy straight at Spike's chest.
>It strikes him dead center, but doesn't even force him to stumble back. The only thing left by it is a char on his scales, and even that disappears within seconds.
>Spike growls in satisfaction as the new magical energy courses its way through his body, and leaps forward with a draconic shriek.
>Tirek catches his charge by slamming a palm into his chest and wrapping his other hand around the dragon's head.
>He spins around, smashing Spike's head into the dirt and plowing a small canyon into the dead ground.
>Spike attempts to push himself back up, but now that he's behind Tirek, the centaur lifts both back legs and plunges them into Spike's shoulders, smashing him into the ground once again.
>Tirek approaches the dragon from the front this time, picking his head up off the ground and drawing back a punch as he turns Spike's face toward him.
>flames.jpg
>Tirek stumbles back under the onslaught of fire thrown against his face, and Spike leaps to his feet yet again.
>They square off a second time, but now Tirek takes the offensive, charging headlong at Spike, his horns aimed straight at the dragon's pectorals.
>Spike extends both arms, catching the charge and locking his legs.
>They skid back almost a hundred yards before stopping, but Spike holds his ground, keeping the struggling centaur in his grasp.
>Seeing an opening, Tirek lifts both arms and begins pummeling Spike's stomach mercilessly with blow after blow, while the dragon is still forced to keep ahold of his horns.
>Spike rapidly grows weary of this arrangement and throws Tirek's head straight down, tipping his back end up just high enough for the dragon to lift up a foot and plant it on Tirek's cheek, crushing his head into the dirt below.
>Tirek pounds on the ground as he struggles to remove himself from under the dragon's weight, but his neck simply isn't strong enough.
>>
>>25825103

>Tirek, in a desperate effort, fires a magical blast straight downward, causing an explosion in the ground beneath him and launching his head straight up.
>His face is scalded now, and his magnificent beard is but smoldering ashes clinging to his face as his horns take the natural upward course and plow into Spike's neck.
>The dragon grasps the horns, but Tirek uses his newfound leverage to push forward, pinning Spike onto the ground, choking him with the horns around his neck.
>Spike struggles against the grip, but cannot find purchase as the centaur's horns begin to close off his larynx.
>The dragon is not done yet, however, as he begins to grab the horns lower to the ground, and slowly pull them apart.
>Being bone, they are not willing to separate, but the dragon is even less willing to die.
>After a few tension-filled seconds, both of Tirek's mighty horns snap off in Spike's hands, leaving him with only jagged nubs on his forehead.
>Tirek screams in agony as the nerves in his beautiful, all-powerful horns are ripped and torn to shreds, and swings blindly at Spike as his vision turns red.
>Spike, understanding the situation of his opponent, regains his feet, still holding the horns in his hand, and grabs Tirek by the shoulder with one hand.
>He pulls him inward, driving the massive horn straight into his stomach, and releasing both grips as Tirek stumbles backward, falling to his knees, then to the ground as blood falls like water from the mortal wound.

K.O.
Victory: Spike

Again, I don't want to get mugged, so here's why this happened.

Synopsis: Tirek, while incredibly strong with the power of 8 Alicorns (or the equivalent of, with the strength of all of Equestria's Earth ponies), is still physically weaker than Spike.
The most impressive physical feat we ever see from any single pony was Big Mac pulling a house. That took most of his strength, and we never see anything greater than that, especially not from an Alicorn.

1450078951506.gif
901 KB, 360x202
>>25826084

Synopsis continued: Tirek's body is better designed for fighting, true enough, but his natural equilibrium is based entirely on his front legs, a weakness that Spike was able to exploit. Even when improvising with magic, however, Tirek is left defenseless because he relies too much on his own successes rather than his opponents failures. This is shown in the S4 fight, when Twilight present multiple openings, none of which Tirek takes advantage of, favoring the scarcer big hits over the more readily available smaller ones. Not necessarily a flaw, but it's not a strategy that works against an opponent who's naturally more durable than you.

Spike: Spike's magic immunity helped him out once again here, saving him from Tirek's initial blast. More useful, though, was his muscular ability. Tirek's horns, at maximum size, are almost 40 inches in diameter of solid bone. Obviously, that's not very easy to break, but combined with that fact that Spike's scales are above a seven on the Mohs scale and that he's clearly able to shatter rocks of the same size, it stands to reason that Spike is more than physically superior.

Conclusion: Everyone's least favorite dragon is, in fact, bad to the bone.

So you're telling me they're trying to keep his self-esteem down... so he doesn't want to start destroying everything around him? ...THAT IS LIKE TRYING TO PREVENT A FIRE BY DOUSING THE ENTIRE AREA WITH KEROSENE.

>>
>>25827157

Kiiiinda.
It's more like indulgence, from what I understand. Which sucks, because a lot of really cool characters have been made to the point where they aren't allowed to sex anyone for fear of their own lives or their partners lives, and Spike is basically just like that with Rarity now.
>Spike will never sacrifice his greatest gift, his sentiency, for the perfect bliss he would have with Rarity.
>Rarity will never cry out, realizing what a fool she's been for the last five years as she watches Spike transform into a being of sheer power and destructive force, only to be dealt with by termination.

>>
>>25827185
Problem is... the writers seem to "solve" this by making Spike into a cosmic chew toy. If they were to ever touch on Spike becoming a monster, I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of how the universe these writers have created treats him, rather than any sort of draconic greed or indulgence.
>>
>>25827269
I think you're assuming too much. One view of a reason why Spike is treated so poorly is because if he gets treated too well he'll become a giant monster again.

However, he's treated like shit because the writers thought people liked slapstick and liked seeing Spike get hurt.
>>
>>25827269
That'd be really cool, I agree, but it would never happen just because it would ruin the character that Spike already is. He would have to COMPLETELY change after that, maybe even keep some of the natural changes that go with the transformation.
>Spike leaves Ponyville as a dragon with a body that would make Garble kneel and beg to serve.
>He spends months on end heading around Equestria, solving problems in a fashion that nopony else can: the way of the smackdown.
See, having Spike as some biker/vigilante after his major transformation would be AMAZING, and it would bring up so many new episode plots.
>>
>>25827277
Fair enough, considering he's the only one in the show who can physically handle all the crap that he does, but he still deserves the chance to be the legitimate hero for once.

This round: Spike vs. Giga Bowser.

Starting, as usual, with the setup.

>It's been some time since the Mushroom Kingdom and Equestria discovered each other, and their coexistence has been exceptionally peaceful.
>Unfortunately, Lord Bowser fully intends to see that end.
>He has dispatched multiple groups of troops to attempt to take the towns, but they are easily defeated.
>After his third failure, he is finally fed up with waiting and opts to go himself.
>Naturally, thousands of ponies flee from the massive Koops King, but he is not satisfied with simply burning down villages.
>As he approaches a city built upon a mountain, he pauses and begins to concentrate on the thousands of energetic forces that have fueled him in the past.
>Their residual energy remains yet within him, and he smirks as it begins to reveal itself in the form of a massive adrenal boost, skyrocketing his height to monstrous levels.
>Even the Lord of the Koopas, though, is ill prepared for the sight of the mountaintop the city is built under splitting open to reveal a gigantic dragon within, a dragon who seems quite set on taking Bowser's head.
>The massive turtle demon, never one to back down from a good challenge, cracks his knuckles, the sound echoing like a cannon shot across the plains.
>"Showtime."
>>
>>25837278
>Spike leaps out of the mountain, roaring like the monster he clearly is.
>Bowser makes no reaction but to draw back a fist, taking direct aim at Spike's face.
>The punch makes perfect contact as Spike crashes to the ground, leaving Bowser clutching his hand and Spike stumbling from the force of the blow.
>Spike releases a feral scream and charges, his mouth now dripping with draconian ichor.
>Bowser throws up an arm to block, and immediately finds Spike's teeth buried in his metal bracelet.
>The Koopa King attempts to shake the dragon off, but soon realizes his new advantage.
>He lifts a fist, smashing blow after merciless blow into the crown of the dragon's head.
>In his reverie of violence, the mighty beast fails to see that his bracelet is cracking steadily under the rain of blows, and so he almost falls back when it finally splits in two, carved by the diamond-crushing teeth of Spike and his own deadly arm strength.
>Bowser isn't willing to sacrifice his advantage that easily, however.
>With a roar, he leaps forward and grabs Spike by the neck, lifting his head and squeezing until the rattling breathing is forced to stop.
>"Hard to breathe fire with no air, huh?"
>Bowser, being the gloater he is, does not notice that Spike's feet are still on the ground, a feat enabled by his elongated neck.
>Spike reaches out, placing his hands under Bowser's armpits and lifting straight up.
>The King is thrown overhead, smashing into the mountain behind the battle and rolling down, leaving a trail of spike marks as his shell penetrates the rock face.
>>
>>25837368
>Bowser attempts to get to his feet, but is stopped by a kick from Spike.
>The dragon steps over Bowser, driving blow after blow into his snout.
>The ground beneath them is beaten to mud by the pounding of Bowser's head against it for almost a minute straight until Spike finally stands up, panting with the effort.
>He is shocked, however, by the sound of laughter coming from his victim.
>"Is that all? I thought this was gonna be tough."
>Bowser rolls back on his shell, driving both legs straight outward and planting them in Spike's abdomen.
>As the dragon flies backward, Bowser rolls onto his feet with the momentum from the kick and rushes forward.
>He leaps into the air, crashing down right on top of Spike's solar plexus as the dragon's backside strikes the ground.
>Bowser grabs Spike's snout, flinging it open as he speaks.
>"When my game finally does end, buddy, I want you to tell me what death tasted like."
>Bowser draws back, plunging his fist into Spike's gaping maw and throwing it open.
>As his claws slice through tissue and arteries, Bowser takes a breath, thanking his lucky stars that he'd had the common sense to use his adrenaline before things got out of hand.
>His euphoria lasts only for a few seconds, for as he draws his arm from Spike's lifeless mouth, he finds it sliced to ribbons by the dozens of teeth within.
>He grimaced, realizing that he can't just conquer a city while bleeding like this, as vuelnerability breeds rebellion.
>He tromps off to nurse his wounds as the adrenaline begins to wear off, leaving him to conquer another day.

Synopsis:

Bowser's primary saving grace here is his natural durability. If you thought Godzilla could survive stuff, meet his tougher cousin. Bowser has survived falling from space, being engulfed in a black hole, and has tanked a hit from a creature with the destructive capacity to literally annihalate an entire dimension. Durability aside, though, he's also fat more experienced in combat and understands the workings of dragon physiology, being a hybrid of a dragon himself.

Spike's primary failing was his natural instinct this time, as well as a simple lack of adequate physical strength. His instincts told him that fire would be useless, since Bowser is clearly at least part dragon, but that was incorrect. Bowser is not immune to fire, only resistant to it, and can be burned (though not to a lethal extent). His teeth might have helped had he been given the chance to use them, but Bowser's fighting experience taught him to keep anything above a 9 on the Mohs scale as far away from himself as possible.

Unfortunately for Spike, his opponent this time was simply too tough for him to handle, since we've all seen what Bowser can survive.
As such, this victory goes to Bowser.

I still need ideas for tomorrow's green. Post any fights you wanna see, and I'll look into them.
