First issue was good. Honestly still had worlds of potential despite even the horribly misused 'villains' team up.
Second it all started going down hill. The villains willingly ally with Sombra (as if Chryssy wasn't bad enough), everyone worfs hard so Sombra looks badder (including the princessess in one panel) and Hope confirms she is a completely unrepentant bitch with no concern for her peoples' safety, or even her country's.
Third got a littttttle bit better, providing slight justification for Hope being tricked (doesn't explain where the flying fuck she thought anything other than telling a princess WHICH SHE DID AFTER SHE STARTED ATTACKING THEM first before all this... insanity started though) and giving a fair amount of screen time to Cadance, something she desperately deserves/needs. Still flounders because not a sole calls out Hope on her awful decisions and continuously makes things worse for no reason, and while the Deus Ex Machina for how Twilight got out IS explainable from the Luna arc it makes no sense why it doesn't work more than once.
Fourth starts off worse and only gets worser. The princesses job (again, this time off screen entirely), Ponyville gets a nice scene in trying to save the town that makes no freaking sense in how they put up such a good fight when the entire Crystal Guard apparently failed (not a single Crystal Pony helps in the fight either), they bring in Discord for no reason when he could solve all this in a microsecond, and... godddamnit, do I even need to explain why I hate the ending? Sombra and Hope are instantly forgiven with absolutely no consequences for their various misdeeds, Sombra turns around at the last possible second and is given undue credit for saving the entire empire, the princesses.... somehow turn him good again (wonder why they just didn't do this before instead of banishing him?) and he and Hope get to wander off into the sunset, likely to endanger/traumatize/ruin more lives as they have.
God for some reason Celestia has a very punchable face in these comics

I storytime the same way with really small changes occasionally to give the comic a fair chance to shine or drown on it's own.
I don't think I can do anything in particular to try and make the comics feel worse or better if I keep myself relatively quiet the whole time.
I do hope that some day the comics maybe come back to a point that /mlp/ can like them, but IDW will have to do that. I remember having fun with the micros and some of the earlier main series comic threads.

This was terrible. I cannot express any more how much Hope pisses me off as a character, but this ending with Sombra is like Reflections and the Pet ending had an ugly child together. It's rushed, it's nonsensical, it's insultingly immature despite the supposed dark themes they were going for at first, it's just mind numblingly BAD.

Part 4- 2/10 (Ponyville helping is literally the only thing that saves it, that and Hope's message about destiny which, for all her faults, is a good speech but goddamnit she is NOT that reasonable of a pony)

Well then.
For the division of the ride, the start was a 6/10, the middle two issues combined being a 7/10 and this final issue being a 5/10.
The issue has a lot going on for it at the beginning, lots of potential and before the counterattack of the pony rebellion, full of tiny bits of hype. The bad came in the middle and the end where everything just kinda came at a fast pace, characters before were forgotten and the rest of it was just Hope being passive aggressive on Sombra to change him in about two panels or so. Perhaps the biggest fault of the final issue is the ending, which just turned Sombra back to normal (which was like a disney logo thrown into the ending just to be less bitter sweet). Of course rushed endings aside, it's alright for a children's book but it's really lacking when you read it over and over again.
Hope's character is still a mixed bag for me. She's tricked, decieved and ultimately clueless on a lot of things. She had a good start but down a loopy road.
This wouldn't be the first time MLP had a quick ending, both in IDW and the show. I guess it just really lowers my expectations a lot.
The whole saga in itself? I'd say just a 6/10. Better in the start, bitter in the end. The final issue is just well, eh. I had some bit of fun.
I can't wait to see how canon this would be. This has to be the first IDW arc to show a fully reformed villain that breaks status quo of their life.

Out of everything this comic arc did, strangely the whole Sombra turning good thing doesn't annoy me much. Guess cause I expected it. Although the zapping him into his good form I didn't expect.
However everything else like the whole team up with Chrysalis which didn't make sense, Celestia and Luna getting rekt in one page, everyone in general just jobbing hard, Sombra being overly powerful after JUST being revived. Iron Will and the others just disappearing with no consequences, and Hope being stupid throughout the arc is what did annoy me. Oh and not to mention a whole event happened "offscreen" and the last issue begins with candyass and twi already captured.
Everything was done in such a dumb fashion just to get to this outcome and our heroes did nothing except get bested at every turn which made them look incompetent.
Guess I'm just glad it's over.
