Ehh, do you really think a flashback episode like that would work in the show? Especially with a theme we already more or less had with Baby Cakes? I think the comics can have this one. Sure it's a cute idea, but I don't think it's fitting for the show. It's exactly the kind of thing fanfics and extended universe stuff (i.e. comics) are for.

Spike's origin story is a different matter, that would work in the show (and probably is what Dragon Quest should have been) and doesn't need to be a flashback story (in fact, it can't be unless it's a flashback of whoever found that dragon egg). It could still happen.
