Welcome to the first post of the first thread of "You get to Name the".

This CYOA contains the following: Lack of Art, character creation, alternate Universe Equestria, stupid OC bullshit, and no anon.

Story so far: There doesn't seem to be a protagonist, but I guess there is still stuff. Equestria exist, cupcakes are given preferential treatment over muffins,

Twilight is a princess. Oh, and there is a lot of commotion amongst everyone invested in politics over a some letter that was delivered a week ago. But what

about that do you know? I dunno, we'll need to figure out what kind of pony you are first.
>>
You're a pony, that much is obvious. But WHAT kind of pony are you? Discuss, I'll put a poll up shortly to tally.

-Earth Pony: You're just as smart, but stronger and tougher than other kinds of ponies. Flying and magic is for jerks.

-Pegasi: Being a pegasi means flying, and that means having a unique perspective on things. You can fly (and even run) circles around most other ponies, and your mind is just as quick. The world can be a scary place, but your wings are a constant reminder of how easy it can be to 'get on top of things'.

-Bat Pony: You're... Different. Where as your more mundane kin often enjoy the attention they get for their quick antics, the attention you get makes you weary of getting any more. You have a legacy of betrayal stretching back to the Sister's Feud, the civil war that tore Equestria asunder; somewhere down the line your ancestor pledged themselves to Nightmare Moon. Being an inside-yet-outsider however has steeled your heart and mind, and having something to prove gives you determination.

-Unicorn: Magic is in your very nature, and most likely a major part of your life. A world of magic and wonder is constantly at your hoofs, from minor incantations to mighty displays of arcane might. Or at least, they are if you study and are gifted. For everyone else, well... Telekinesis can be pretty useful in any profession.
>>
wingless bat pony, because I play with handicaps
>>
Uh... Ok I'll bite

I think we should be Unicorns because everyone loves magic right
>>
>>25773113
Earth ponies are cool. They get to pick up ponies and use them as weapons against other ponies.
>>
>>25773272
Pretty sure Shining is a Unicorn.
>>
>>25773113
Unicorn is cool if training a lot unicorn can posses flight as well

>>

Well... According to the narrative magic is for jerks.

So is 4chan

So yes, that seems about right.

I can't make that into a quick and funny nickname though. Okay, maybe Getter, but anime belongs in the trash.
>>

All the ponies come in Crystal Variants. You just have to have Crystal Empire as an origin (Which is a choice to be made in the future)
>>

Variants don't come in Variants.

Also looks like Unicorn is winning the polls, I'll let it run for another five minutes then get onto the next part.
>>
>>25773901
We get to pick origins and other stuff like that too? Wicked. I vote we're the only unicorn from Cloudsdale, and we have learned to be very, very careful where we walk.
>>
>>25773939
Woah, slow down. We'll do this one step at a time. After all, you get to name the pony. We couldn't do that without naming the important parts of the life too right?
>>
>>25773946
Fair enough. I mostly meant that as a joke, but am pleased that you considered it to be something akin to a valid suggestion. I like the complete freedom you seem to be affording us in this process.

>>

We don't even know what species, gender, or age we are yet.
>>
>>25773984
Regardless, I agree with this anon.
>>
>>25773967
You have no idea, there are actually some numbers going on the in the background and yes, you can be a non-pegasus from Cloudsdale if you want. Just realize that the pony whose life your constructing will be shaped by all the choice YOU make about its life.

>>25773984
Species, we are Unicorns since they just won the poll!
>>25773982
Name oddly enough will be the last one, once we have the protagonist's life before us. Since Equestria seems to conspire to make fitting names.

Next comes gender. Since its such a simple choice, I'm not gonna put up a discussion buffer for it.

It's mostly called that because you get to name the basically everything about the protagonists life.

Once we get further into the story I'll put up a vote to see if people want to change the name, but for now this is a fitting name

I'm being stingy with information about the story itself because... Well, what the protagonist knows going into the CYOA is really dependent on your choices.

Also looks like Female is winning. Gonna give it a little more time

So you're both a lady and a Unicorn, but there is more than being a pony than just WHAT you are. Where are you from?

Appleoosa: You were born in the frontier town of Appleoosa. You're used to deal with roughness, both from others and the land itself.

Canterlot: You were born in the capitol city of Canterlot, the city of Nobles, High Life, and academia. Being a
Unicorn in such a city means doors open easier for you than others.

Cloudsdale: You were born in Cloudsdale, the fantastic city of rainbows and clouds. The only problem is, you're not a pegasi. You've learned how to think fast and move faster, but living in a world made for everyone but you has been harder on you than you might admit.

Crystal Empire: You were born in the sparkling Crystal Empire. Second only to Canterlot in its splendor, the city is home to experts of all kinds, from basket weavers to sculptors.

Griphonstone You were born an expat in the City of Griphonstone, and like its inhabitants you are strong and tough. From good natured brawls to vicious bullying, Griphonstone burns away weakness like slag from iron.

Manehatten: You were born in the city of lights and music. Living here means diversity, and its something you embraced. Your interests are as varied as the people you meet, and your comfort range is wider than most.

Ponyville: You were born in the cozy town of Ponyville. Here you've grown up in a peaceful and supportive environment. Home of the legendary elements of harmony and the princess of friendship, you've like-wise developed strong interpersonal and intellectual skills.

Roving Traders: You were born in a town somewhere, but you didn't stay there. Instead you traveled from city to city and town to town peddling wares. Along the way you learned the value of money.
>>
Well, while we're waiting, why don't we plan ahead? The only clue about the plot that the GM gave us was "there is a lot of commotion amongst everyone invested in politics over some letter" and "what the protagonist knows going into the CYOA is really dependent on your choices".

Personally, I want to know what the hell is going on. I say we try to be in politics or work in the palace or something so we don't start blind.
>>
>>25774305
Canterlot, for the reasons that I stated here >>25774309

>>
>>25774305
Griphonstone sounds interesing
but then again canterlot is for elitist unicorns like us
so that's where we're from
>>
>>25774340
May we're from a rich Canterlot family that summers in Griphonstone.
>>
Aww, I was hoping we'd get to be a stallion this time.

>>25774351
We can do that.
Or maybe a canterlot family that moved there halfway through our life?
Past connections to nobility and high class early education with a lot of time learning to be tough
>>
>>25774405
It might be even more interesting the other way around. We grew up around griffons, until our social climber parents decided to move us to Canterlot so we could get a proper unicorn education. Now we look like we belong, but have no idea how to be a Canterlot snob.

>>
>>25778112
I see lots of potential in waving wings with limited juice and possible resentment from less gifted pegasi for being a "fake pegasus."
>>
>>25778336
Interesting! I like the idea of limited flight, but I don't think we should have actual wings. How about a collapsable hing glider or something we keep in our backpack?

"Hey, you there, weather pony! Could you create a quick thermal updraft for me? I need to get to a higher cloud, and this thing was only designed to go sideways."
>>
>>25778500
Ooh, or we could go Pinkie Pie style.

"Hey look, it's that freak that always has a dozen balloons strapped to her back! Let's all point and laugh!"

I guess we'd also need to carry around a fan or bellows or something for thrust. Or maybe just tie something to our tail that we can wave? I don't know, we'll think pf something.
>>
Anyone have any thoughts on a reason why we're a Cloudsdale unicorn, anyway? Are we an ambassador from Canterlot? Are we some sort of genius unicorn meteorologist that works in the weather factory designing clouds? Are we a genetic mutant born to two pegasi? Or are we ordinary, and just have unicorn parents that need to live in Cloudsdale for whatever reason?
>>
>>25778500
>>25778570
That's why I like the idea of a unicorn with creative use of magic and materials to trying to fake it until they make it in Cloudsdale.

You gotta MacGuyver some form of lift and thrust, kinda like Scootaloo on steroids.
>>
>>25778639
Hell yeah! I didn't even consider creative use of magic. All we'd need is a parachute, a gust of wind spell, and a can do attitude!
>>
>>25778633
I think mutant is the only really compelling reason why we'd stay in Cloudsale instead of parents send us off to some boarding school or having pegasi attendants/lab assistants.

There must've been a Unicorn grandparent in our family tree somewhere.
>>
>>25778633
Pegasi parents.
>>
>>25776724
At the end of character creation, there will be a randomly rolled table, with five different good things and five different bad things.

Anyways, since last poll had so many choices we'll be narrowing stuff down.

>>
>>25779332
I don't think anyone else is going to vote.
>>
>>25779332
To clarify, will we be rolling for five good things and five bad things, or will we be getting a few rolls on a table that lists five good things and five bad things? If the latter, how many traits do we get to roll?
>>
>>25780113
Personally, I'd vote for the first one. That way we immediately get ten traits to help us form a new character.

At the very least, let us roll enough times to get both good and bad traits.
>>
>>25780113
It will be either be a single roll, or two rolls for a good and bad trait.

Also the finals for the origin are go now. Cloudsdale vs Crystal Empire

>>25781199
The amount of time it took to come to this didn't increase the possibility of that happening.
>>
>>25781199
I'm still confused how a Unicorn living in Cloudsdale even works but whatever. Maybe it has the flutterwing spell active at all times and is extremely weak to the sun ala Icarus (or Rarity).
>>
>>25781221
There's tons of options.

Rarity wings, an enchanted medallion of cloud walking, pinkie style balloons, pinkie style gyrocopter, self-levitation, a pegasus aide.
>>
>>25781250
Given the season finale apparently they can make compacted clouds that non-fliers can walk on.
>>
>>25781277
Rainbow did that in Wonderbolts academy too. Imagine if we had our own special super-dense cloud that we had to ride around like a wheelchair.
>>
>>25781175
A Unicorn in Cloudsdale. But what was your life situation like growing up? Clearly your parents had the money to afford keeping a non-pegasus with them in the city, but there's still some choice available.

GET TRAITS
[Advantage]Endowment: Permanent Enchantment (Cloud Walking)
---

Streets: NOPE

Orphanage: Your parents died shortly after you were born but left behind a great deal of wealth. In their will, they bequeathed 70% of it to the local government in which you'd be fostered in. Politicians being greedy as they are, decided it was time to have a non-pegasus orphan in the Sunshine Avenue orphanage. You have a lot of independence as the matron doesn't really pay much attention to you. Best of all since you never learned about the will, you don't have to be bogged down by silly things like 30% of an estate!

Low: NOPE

Mid: Your childhood was comfortable. You had some nice things, and friends too. You did deal with bullies and unpleasantness due to your your lack of wings, but your parents have raised you to be well adjusted social. Sadly they could never adjust you physically beyond an expensive enchantment.

High: You grew up as a rich kid. You had the shiniest toys, the best food, and the most fantastic parties. Sure you get mocked by others for not having wings, but you realize that money trumps race; even the most bigoted bullies clamor to come to your parties. It's good having so many 'friends' because you'd get pretty lonely otherwise, seeing as your parents both love their job more than you. But that's the cost of money, natch.

Noble: You are special, different. Your entire life you've been told about how you're part of something timeless: the aristocracy. Your childhood is a strange mix of decadence and slavery. Your allowance makes grown ponies envious, yet you live under the oppressive gaze of your peers and parents who look for any opening to improve their own standing.

Agreed. A younger pegasus sibling that every other noble wishes was older than us so that they wouldn't have to care about a unicorn.

Sorry, I was cooking. Looks like Nobility wins. Congrats on being part of the elite of Equestria!

School of Hard Knocks: Nope

Adoption Tango: Nope

Part-Timer: Nope

Public School: Nope

Academy (Poor): Your family -while noble- was not exactly rich. You and your parents put a great deal of work into maintaining the illusion on splendor, and part of that was getting you into an Academy in the capitol of Canterlot. While the administration of course says you paid your way, that isn't true. Maybe you were impressive enough to get in via scholastic invitation. Perhaps your parents traded favors to get some accounting errors in place when the bills come to being paid. Even without talk though, other nobles know that your family's reputation is nothing more than paper-thin veneer, and treats you like the has-been family you come from. You do everything you have to in order to keep that veneer in tact.

Academy (Wealthy): You were enrolled into a predigious Academy as soon as you were old enough. The price was hefty but as a noble your family absorbed the cost easily. You are a unicorn, but the fact remains you are an outsider to Canterlot. In spite of those that heckle you in the polite manner of high life, you have a flair about you that gives you an undeniable magnetism. You may have two hooves in the sky, two on the ground, and no where to have any true roots, but that suits you just fine; you're prepping for your prime and damned be any who'd get in the way.

Apprenticeship: Nope

Private Tutors: You didn't go to a school, instead it came to you in the form of experts from around the world. You spent most of your days in your own home being lectured, practicing an instrument and refinement, and otherwise being groomed. If you didn't know better (and you do, your literature tutor made sure of that), you'd think that the idea of a gilded cage came from your life.

Migrant: Nope
>>
>>25782568
Private tutor or wealthy academy.
If we got tutored, where are the mean nobles? Are they neighbours?
>>
>>25782568
I like Wealthy and Private Tutors.
I'm gonna say Private tutors for maximum spaghetti spilling once we leave 'the gilded cage'.
>>
>>25782568
I like the sound of academy (wealthy), for one line in particular.

>you may have nowhere to have any true roots, but that suits you just fine
>you're prepping for your prime and damned be any who'd get in the way

Fate dealt us a harsh hand, and we flipped fate off and said that we're going to be awesome anyway.
>>
>>25782634
Good point. Wealthy it is. We need to have schoolmates to make fun of the fact that we have pegasus mannerisms.

>>
>>25782634
You're parents can love you and be mean too.

As a noble, you have a lot of expectations. You fulfill them, you're the star of the show. You fail, suddenly you are worse than that shit in the dirt that the worms eat.

>>25782750
As a noble, only the best schools will do (for bragging rights), and Canterlot has too much prestige behind it to not go to Canterlot's premier academies. Don't worry, you're about as at home in Canterlot as you are in Cloudsdale.

http://www.strawpoll.me/6280588

Here we go
>>
>>25782800
It's not neccesarily fabulous, personal magnetism could be from many different kinds of personalities. Maybe she is crass, but always in a 'sauve bastard' kind of way. Or maybe she is a show off, but also good enough to almost meet her own boasts.
>>
>>25782819
I like to imagine that we are a great and powerful charismatic liar. I'm not a unicorn, I'm an alicorn. I maintain an illusion spell for the sake of all you fucking plebs. Now get the hell out of my way.
>>
>>25782905
Pretty sure people would just fucking laugh at you. You'd be lying to other nobles, they'd know who's an Alicorn.
>>
>>25782927
It was a deliberately ridiculous example. I just meant that I imagined her with that Trixie style self-importance and willingness to stretch the truth.
>>
What rank are we being groomed for anyway? What title do we stand to inherit? Princess? Countess? Viscountess? Baroness? Lady? How much clout are we talking here? Do we get a tiara or other sparkly hoozits that we can lord over everyone who bullied us?
>>
>>25783164
Unless you get material wealth as one of the positive traits, or you chose something during the "real life" module (if you chose to that far, character creation can end at Academy if people want) you'll be unlanded. Which means you'd be just a Lady.

Speaking of, Rich Academy is winning.

Do people want to continue to real life or start right out of academy?

2 Dark Secret: You have a secret, one so terrible that its revelation would ruin your life. Now no matter how hard you try to hide it, paranoia always creeps back to you. Loose ends, forgotten evidence, a slip of the lips; any moment and your entire world could come crumbling down.

Congratulations, everyone. We're a princess.

>>25784415

>>25783164
>>25783267
>>
>>25784457

>>25784439
I was just commenting that two people posted with the same end number. You're not actually a double noble. It will mean you have title though.

>>25784509
Sadly no. It has a tie in to the overarching plot of the CYOA

>>25784600
I'll just let you guys throw designs out and I'll pick one I guess?

Still writing up the summary
>>
>>25784638
After all the discussions and voting on everything else, picking our appearance is just going to boil down to "you guys do whatever you want and I'll pick one afterwards"? No debate or strawpoll or anything else like the rest of character creation?
>>
>>25784669
Feel free to debate, I'll toss it in a strawpoll if only a few ideas come up, but if everyone throws ideas I'll just execute some executive authority.

>>25784638
Teal coat with a golden hued mane. Very long mane and tail that's done up nicely. Ruby-ish eyes?
>>
>>25784688
I say we go with a white coat. We're noble, and I associate the color with aristocratic ponies, thanks to Celestia, Rarity, and Blueblood. Thoughts anyone?
>>
>>25784703
NOT NOBLE ENOUGH.
Our coat is GOLD!
Our mane is BRONZE!
Our eyes are LITERAL DIAMONDS!
>>
>>25784725
Anon, you have convinced me. Light golden coat, dark bronze mane.

Literal diamond eyes sound painful, though. How about rubies, as suggested by >>25784695
>>
>>25784638
Pale/mild blue-violet coat
Orange(ish) mane, maybe a single colour streak?
Yellow or grey eyes
>>
>>25784745
I don't really like the sound of brown on yellow. I was hoping that the teal would give the gold mane some contrast. Make it pop, yaknow?
>>
I say we just grab bits of all the suggestions.

>>25784703
White coat.
>>25784761
Orange main with a single streak in it.
>>25784725
The streak is bronze.
>>25784695
Ruby eyes.
>>
>>25784781
So ruby red eyes or rubies for eyes?
Or a ruby fake eye?
>>
>>25784781
What about build? Sleek and tall? Our parents are pegasi after all.
>>
>>25784805
That fits. We should be more slight than the average unicorn, considering our heavy pegasi leanings.
>>
Main and tail style? I imagine something with a bit of flair, since we're not just a noble but a rich and important landed noble.
>>
>>25784805
Sleek for a unicorn, but slightly pudgy for a pegasus.
I'm alright with any height.

>>25784823
Straight hair, but tied up in a bun with a fringe/bangs what covers one eye

not sure what to put for the tail though.
Maybe a little jewellery too? Earrings? A necklace?
Strobe light gemstones?
>>
>>25784927
I like the straight hair with bangs covering one eye, but could we have a ponytail instead of a bun? We're fresh out of the academy, and a bun feels a bit too severe for someone as young as we are.

And jewelry, definitely. We're rich.
>>
>>25784792
Ruby red sounds ok to me
>>
Well, I can't wait any longer for the GM. I have work in the morning so I'm heading to bed. Hopefully our backstory and appearance end up being cool. I'll find out in the morning.

I can barely keep my eyes open. I'm sorry guys but I'll have to finish this tommorow (all the neato stuff I wrote decided to crash and not save when I fell asleep).

Something for you guys to discuss though

Do you want to play out the dark secret?
Or just have it summarized too?

If you wanna play it out, the Summary will be an 'outside view' of how your life has gone.
If you want it in the summary, like it says on the bottle it'll be in the summary.
>>
>>25785883
Play out the secret.
Maybe some minor detail will come in use later.
>>
>>25786298
Yeah, just a little tantalizing tidbit.
>>
>>25785883
I want the barest hint of the secret, but want to play out the details. Maybe just tell us how old we were and where it happened, but not what it was. That way we can still try to avoid spilling the beans, but we don't get to know what we're protecting.
>>
>>25787041
At the very least, please tell us who else knows our secret.
>>
Page nine bump.
>>
I guess I should have been more clear in what I meant.

By playing it out, I meant actually running a scenario from the past (that would no doubt involve railroading because it being in the past and all).
>>
>>25789341
Oh, that's what you meant? Just tell us then. You said "railroading", and there's no need for us to play out the past if we can't affect its outcome.

After all, it's not really a choose your own adventure if the things we choose don't shape our own adventure.
>>
>>25789769
On the other hand, maybe it'll help us bet a feel for the character and her personality, as well as introducing us to your narrative style.

Yeah, okay. Let's play it out. I can think of this as a semi-interactive tutorial mission instead of a railroaded first quest.
>>
>>25789341
I'd rather have it as a summery. Playing it out feels like trying to define to much of the character at once.
>>
>>25789769
>>25789791

Yup. That's a good way to put it: an introductory tutorial that also gives me insight of my players (so I can better craft the story around them), and players insight of my GMing style (and revealing the dark secret in something other than a boring 'tl;dr')

But I guess I'll put it to a vote (if the combined total of options that aren't flashback wins, I'll just do a secondary vote to determine which of those win)

Childhood:

> You're a noble from the city of Cloudsdale, the capitol of all things pegasus.
> The problem was however in your childhood is that you were not, in fact, a pegasus
> You were —and still are— a Unicorn.
> Noble tradition in Cloudsdale would have you abandoned at a terrestial orphanage
> For some reason though your parents refused; speculation abounds

> Perhaps they wanted a child who could woo the Canterlot elite.
> Maybe they wanted to make a statement and stand out by rejection tradition.
> Or, they could have just hated the idea of giving up their own child.
> Whatever the reason, you would never be sure.

> Your childhood years were challenging, but your —or rather your family's— position took the edge off.
> As soon as you were old enough to handle it, you were given a crystal-dust tattoo that to this day binds a cloud-walking enchantment to you.
> Your parents also gave you everything you could want as a child, provided you didn't embarrass them.
> As nobles, you quickly learned their definition of embarrassing transgressions was very, very wide.

> The constant fear of making mistakes however eventually gave way to actual socialization.
> And you learned things.
> Like how to deal with adversarial ponies
> How to turn enemies into friends
> And how and when to stab people in the back.
> You started fitting in, at least with those that didn't have their heads a millennium in the past.

> Physically though you didn't fit in
> Athleticism was just part of your life, because it was necessary to push yourself every day for even the simplest travels through the city.

> As for a cutie mark, you didn't get yours til the end of your childhood, just before you were sent off to a fancy academy.
> Cutie Marks of course are a momentous, and the events leading to their acquisition are too.
> Or at least, that's how it should be.
> You literally got yours in your sleep, a [Magic related cutiemark. Time to design]

School

> One year later you found yourself inundated in admission tests, as your parents pushed to get you into the best —see 'makes the best bragging subject'— academy they could find for you.
> That meant sending you to Canterlot.
> Despite pegasus pride, Canterlot simply held too much sway over noble society to be ignored.
> ANY noble worth anything went to a Canterlot academy, period.

> For their side of things, academies in Canterlot knew this and discriminated with extreme prejuidice.
> Being the smart, savvy, fit, beautiful, and well endowed (talking about Cutie Marks here) pony you were ofcourse meant even the most prestigious institutes would take you for consideration.
> The fact you were going to have a Barony of your own one day, from which you could give alumni donations, from also helped.
> With all things considered, you ended up in THE academy.
> THE Canterlot Institute of Academia, to be exact.

> When you first moved to Canterlot, you were gleeful.
> It was full of people like you, so you assumed that you'd finally be able to fit in.
> That was wrong though; you shared their bodies but not themselves.
> Where they spoked in a 'refined' manner, you were direct.
> Where you were strong and enduring, they were cultured and delicate.
> Pegasi and Earthpony nobles alike had figured this out too, and either changed or formed like minded cliques.
> You were unable to get into pegasi cliques, and too different to fit in.

> The culture shock of having to start from zero again socially was enough to set you behind.
> You did perfectly with academic and physical subjects, but you floundered with your magical studies.
> The stress got to you, and it expressed in poor magical execution.
> However, after two years of frustration, you finally found your stride and hit it running.

> Suddenly you were one of the top students.
> You made it on the deans list
> Won scholarships (even though you really didn't need them)
> You even made your parents proud.
>>
> As a pony with a magic related cutie mark, your final test was a magical practicum.
> There was more than just one practicum recital though.
> There were several, with participants being chosen based on their skill level.
> They said it was for the sake of safety, but it was mostly just to frame the best students and show them to the world.
> Showing off is one of the best ways to build prestige.
> You found your way into the first tier of practicum easily.
> The test was simple: cast a two-pony spell that you have five minutes of prep to understand, with another student chosen randomly from the first tier of the practicum.
> Oh, and the dean apparently had enough clout to get Twilight to attend the first tier proceedings.
> Just more opportunity to show off the best the Institute had to offer.

> You were to perform with a stallion, Emberswirl.
> Your performance would be almost right in the middle of the practicum, so you'd need to not only be better than those before you, but also stand out so much as to not be forgotten.
> Not to graduate though, but to make the only real currency that matters outside of bits: respect.
> You had no trouble doing your part when it was your turn to present.
> Emberswirl however did not, not only did he mess up the spell but he did so dangerously
>>
> A Fireball engulfed the stage, spreading through the audience.
> Or at least it would have if you hadn't suplexed the spell into submission in a display of magical supremacy.
> The practicum continued, but not as if it hadn't happened: you were clearly best of show.
> Afterwards, Twilight took the top five pairs plus you (Emberspark was too busy being humiliated for his failure to make it six pairs) for a casual chat.
> She was probably also put up to it by the dean, but that's politics.

> Twilight pandered to each of the groups somewhat unenthused, asking them about their spells and how well they knew the theory.
> Also some questions about friends and how they fared at the school.
> Those others had their envy stoked when she actually took interest in you.
> Impressive, she said with actual praise behind the words.
> She talked about how interesting it was to actually see a secondary alignment happen.
> Put short, you were interesting to her and that was more than ninety-nine percent of nobility could say.
> Even five months later, two months after you graduated and had inherited formally the 2nd Hayseed Swamp Airstate, she was interested enough in you to send you a letter.

Secondary Alignment: Sometimes (incorrectly) referred to as a realignment, a secondary alignment is when a pony goes through an advent similar to that of getting a Cutie Mark. Instead of actually getting a cutie mark though, the existing cutie mark is either strengthened or adjusted in some way. This is an extremely rare occurrence, and defies the traditional knowledge of cutie marks.

For our magical cutie mark, I vote one of those magically created wings made of gossamer and morning dew. It bridges the gap between our pegasus heritage and unicorn magic.
