Alright, Semantic Error fell off the board, so I can finally ask.
What do the people who've read my trite, think thus far?
I'm trying a lot of new shit in that quest so there are bound to be a fuckton of slipups and mistakes and I'd like to nip some problems in the bud before anything catastrophic causes the quest to nosedive into a burning pile of fuck, that is unrecoverable.Like the last time I tried to make something short. This is the first quest of yours I've read, the gritty setting attracted me and I have to say it's blown my expectations out of the water so far. In particular I really like the atmosphere and quiet tension created by the intermingling of the mysterious hacker plot and the more mundane issues like drug addiction and watching your money slip away to the expenses of everyday life. I also like that the MC is just relatable enough to the player, dealing with loneliness, a dead-end life, and the confusion of feeling attracted to a nonexistent waifu horse, but with enough characteristics that he doesn't feel like a self insert, what with being a drug addict and also a magical horse hacker. Overall I'm pretty immersed and not much has even happened yet.

Got an a CYOA cooking, wonder if there would be any interest at all in the idea.
A massive wildfire has broken out across Equestria, which is something that has not happened for hundreds of years. Pegasi can control the weather or dump large amounts of water over any potential blazes, Unicorns could cast spells, and Earth ponies took great care of the wilderness. But now, all containment efforts have ended in disaster. Any efforts to try to wrestle the unpredictable weather to cause rainfall has been met with, at best: failure, or at worse: death. No spell seems to help, and in fact several unicorns who came in close contact to The Blaze and survived reported their went haywire. Earth Ponies were perhaps the most effected though, if they are even remotely close to the wildfire they begin to have visions in their sleep, and can 'feel' the damaged earth.
It was quickly guessed that there was some unnatural force at play, but no one knew what it could be. The MC would be apart of an expedition team that is sent out to the 'Ground Zero' of the fire to investigate the cause of the blaze, and hopefully find a way to stop it. Things do not go well.
I'll probably allow the players to not only choose how the MC looks and what race he/she is, but also their skills and 'role' in the Team.
Into The Black is the current title unless I come up with something better. Still haven't really ironed out enough of the characters (There will be more than just the Expedition Team) or setting yet so I have no ETA for when I'd start. For example, I haven't even chosen a location for the Ground Zero. I was thinking the Everfree since it's pretty iconic, but it also seems really tiny now with all these new maps (even though early on some of the dialogue seemed to imply it was a much bigger expanse like in Magic Duel) and not too fitting for a massive blaze.

Go ahead and use the Everfree, if you want. I'm not sure it is so small - the maps come with a big 'not to scale' disclaimer right on them, and if we assume Equestria is continent-sized then it's still a colossal expanse. Even if it is smaller than you want, the emotional response and expectations you evoke from the playerbase by using a well-kmown location like that is well-worth having to ignore the map to get the proper size.

Rki, don't sell yourself short. Unlike me you managed to keep a consistent tone and have detailed environments that manage to stay engaging. Honestly, when I started 11-54 I was aiming for a feel very similar to what Sam Quest pulls off. but around the time the players found a way to incapacitate Spearmint without killing her, that feeling was lost.
I still enjoy 11-54 a lot but I'm not going to say that it's the best in it's genre either.

I made the fatal mistake of leaving mine largely underdeveloped, breaking into sweats long before it even began because I knew things would fall apart. There was fruit to experience, so I am thankful to have gotten over my nerves.
Still, I wanted to make people happy, and I failed that. But comparing this to you leaves me questioning. You succeed where I have failed (and will likely continue to fail), yet you seem entirely unhappy with this outcome. Like it's not enough for you. Like you're not enough. I don't really focus so much on success, I just obsess about improvement. What I'm afraid of is stagnation. I don't want to be stuck at some level I want to perpetually get better. I should probably stop posting my thoughts on the subject since I'm always give the same old, "it's fine, don't worry about it," or, "stop being a little bitch," speech but then I see other people with the same doubts and insecurities here on this thread. It's strange to think that people here look up to me,because I know that objectively, I'm not shit, but just because I suck, doesn't mean that I should stop trying not to, even if I feel like it sometimes. Which is what I thought the Confession part of this thread was for airing.
Either way, Nothing gets better without effort, and even though it may seem like I don't recognize that, I do, and I only wish to build from there.
