It's okay, I've decided against it. I'm making her mark a mug of cider instead of half a pint. At first I just wanted any cutie mark, a pint was one of the first things I thought of, then I started this whole thing in my head of "it's half full, so she's a pessimist and an optimist because half full or half empty" but it feels like that might be too difficult a thing to maintain and would just distract from whatever else about her I might write.

My advice, since you never asked for it and I might as well weigh in - is that you take a minute and think about everyone's motivation. Like, sit down and take notes - what motivated the initial split? Who was for it, who was dragging their hooves? Was anyone dragging their hooves to begin with? And if not, is that some worldbuilding you could do?
For instance, if it's a "natural" thing, then maybe herds are fluid until either marriage or foals - this would explain why colts want to have kids and push for kids, and why they take care of them so much; it means stability for the male and a foundation for a long-lasting relationship.
If it's not natural, but not abnormal, then you have to assume that there are herd-stealing stallions out there who enjoy the thrill of breaking up a herd. Yanno, the subconscious "I got them to leave him so I'm better than he is and he'll always know it!" mentality. This could be why they're already back - they didn't get tired of him, HE dropped THEM. He got his validation and is onto the next conquest, so to speak.
I can't find the post, but I liked the idea that Ponks/Rara/Flutters actually understand why it's devastating to Anon, and therefore actively work to snatch him up from the market - with his consent, even.
I dunno. Just take your time and think - but also keep your people as rational actors. If you were put into that spot your Anon is in, would you go back? Even if your waifus were the ones that dropped you... would you really? I doubt it - hell, I wouldn't. Are your characters making sane decisions in their frame of reference? etc., etc.
But you're doing good work - hell, if the amount of replies and debates you've gotten over this pause is any indication, your story is well loved. Keep it up!

Oof, quite the doozy on your hands. Probably doesn't help that all this started as a collab before you took off and carried this thing to great places. It's always troublesome to do a collab beyond one or two posts, you have to read and re-read what everyone else has done to try and find the stuff they have in common in addition to to the direction they were going in.
I'd say it would help to get stock of what you think all the characters involved have done, how they think, and what they might do. I like to imagine any Anon I write as having a sizable past before the story takes place and try my best to keep him consistent to "that Anon" regardless of whatever happens to him. So if you can get a sense of "your Anon" then I think answering what he'll do gets a little easier. (Or you can figure out way to nudge "your Anon" in the direction you want)
