If getting ass pats and praise is the ONLY reason you're drawing, and if you get so obsessed over it, you're not doing yourself any favors. Fucking this. If you don't know how a sketch is supposed to look then you weren't observing this thread. There are plenty of posters who show the construction phase of their drawings and who experiment with anatomy and proportions.
And stop using that gaudy pen. Use a brush that's less opaque that can be uses for sketching. If you can't line (you can't) then keep it sketchy but clean it up a bit.

The colors look good (to my untrained eye) and there's nothing too jarring going on. There some nice composition going and my eye is drawn to the sunset. Perspective on the fence on the left seems a little off but its nothing that stands out right away. Pony in the tree is a little strange only because she's isn't adding much to the "story" that's going on. If there's no clear reason why she's napping in the tree then maybe she shouldn't be there. But if you chalk it off as a silly slice of life type of thing then I'd say that's fine.

Hey, someone posted on Derpibooru trying to get more anons to show up here. I've been doing some traditional stuff recently but have the typical problem of being able to see all of my errors the second I finish a sketch.
I've posted here before but decided to step away until I "got gud." I don't think I'm really there yet but I'm still terrified of posting my amateur mistake filled artwork and being compared to Zim or some shit. That being said I'm keeping an eye on this thread. I know you want critique on the pony itself but the thing the that sticks out to me the most is your thick, uncontrolled lines. It's a sign that you aren't being "loose" with your drawing and that you're pressing down too hard on the pencil. Work on getting rid of this heavy-handedness. If I've commented on it before then sorry. It can take a while to get rid of.

This is a problem that I've struggled with for a while even when I'm just writing. I don't know who taught me to press down so hard with my writing instruments. Probably the same person that let me practically slam on the keys of a keyboard. I've been trying to correct it.
Anyway, here's another one of my traditional sketches. I think it shows the same problems. Man oh man, if you could see where I was two years ago with a very similar sketch...I might be a slow learner, but I can see progress.

I have an idea in my head for a pony trotting and want to try it out, so I've been looking at some tutorials. But again I wanted to make sure I could walk before I tried to run.

I can only assume you're going for a sitting pose like some sort of dog, so I adjusted the back legs quite a bit. In retrospect your facial features and eyes were spot on but as you can see I added a little bit of cheekbone to help make the face a little bit more believable. Your ears were a bit too short on the placement of her fore-hoofs was incorrect, at least where they connected to the torso

I can elaborate a little. Aside from the pose itself being stiff, spike isn't properly grounded. It's like his entire body and limbs aren't adhering to gravity. Almost like the way one can imagine a body stiffening up when being electrocuted. Put your reference side by side and you'll see what I mean. Tracing can give you an idea of what you're doing wrong.

The electrocution thing is kind of true, I can see. I'm trying to think of what would make a good dynamic pose for him. Something that would be rather loose with a pony like running is surprisingly stiff for him based on what I've seen. I'll keep trying because I know Spike is rather difficult to nail down.

I'll give you a tip when it comes to construction. How you go about putting facial features solely depends on what you're personally used it and practice. You can follow vague advice in the beginning but soon you'll be doing it a way that's unique to you. Like where you set the eyes; I personally put the eyes to where the bottom of the eye is just a tad below the horizontal axis. That lines also acts as a placeholder of where the cheeks are and where the jawline MIGHT be. Notice even when I describe my method it isn't concrete. I can change things on a whim and I don't let the undersketch control me. This takes experimentation to learn and "feel out".

I used to have the center line dissect the eye roughly in half, but it made my eye placement look strange. I like this idea of keeping it above the line though I think it makes my head overall look different.

Oh man, is this that "squashed head syndrome" thing but with ponies? I read about that in my meme drawing book.
I used a reference in regards to the top of the head and the way that the bottom of the head meet the neck.
Question: how did you decide the placement of the redlined guidelines? Was that just so the cheek makes sense where it is? I'm having trouble seeing the horizontal guideline being raised up a bit's effect.
