I'm hoping in season 6 the writers elaborate more on her motivations. There're plenty of ways they could make Glimmer's backstory more realistic, it'd be cool if they even spent an entire episode talking about her past.
Even if they don't, the director made a comment about how little things happen in all of our childhoods that we obsess over or have a really big impact on us even if it is really something just silly.
