The episode "Secret of My Excess" (Season 2, Episode 10) aired on this day four years ago.
We haven't gotten a truly great Spike episode since. I thought that this episode was going to be the start of something great for his character but they just didn't do much with it.
Four years later we still have so many unanswered questions.

Yeah. So was Equestria Games. S4 had a lot of good Spike moments even if they were all based around his own feelings about himself. What I meant was that they never really got deeper into his origins. Hell, Dragon Quest seemed like they they wanted to close that book before they even opened it.
And then you had S5 where his only time in the spotlight was basically a gag episode where nothing made sense and nothing changed for him.

Not this shit again. The anthem scene was required for his moment at the end to be so fucking important. I don't want to turn into Tom Spiegel or some shit but the fact that Equestria Games is routinely ranked so low for several reasons despite it having one of the best moments in the series in terms of character development as well as one of the best morals is a fucking disgrace.

OWEW wasn't even that bad and SAYS is nothing compared to Princess Spike. A lot of people blamed it for a bad ending to the Games arc.
But you have to admit that hating Spike episodes inherently is a meme. Honestly I think that they need to stop putting his name in titles. Before the fluke of the finale, Princess Spike had the lowest views of any episode in the series. I genuinely think people look at titles, say "Oh, it's a Spike episode," and then never watch it.
I know numerous people who I tried to discuss Princess Spike with who never even watched it.
