We are not going to stream the episodes, at last not usually. It would be complicated to find enought people to watch at the same time the episode unless we agree hours or even days before. It as been already discussed. By now we will limit ourselves to just watch by ourselves the episode, and if you want, discuss it here.
And so begins Celestia's first lesson to Twilight in friendship studies. You have five friends and only one sparkly doodad. Resolve.
You know what I really liked about this episode? Twilight's teleportation spell. It was really rough, probably because it was the first time she had used it outside of a classroom setting, and maybe the first time that she had used it at all. Yet by Applebuck Season she is a pro at it.
Twilight Sparkle is the Isaac fucking Newton of Magic.
I never really understood why so many (or at last, a lot) of people dislike this episode. Yes, they are like still showing you all the ponies and stuff, but still I think it's a nice episode with a good morale

No, she teleported in episode 2 to get past Nightmare Moon. It probably was the first time she had teleported that far though, or taken someone with her.

I liked this episode too. In the opener you met the ponies and learned about their personalities. In Ticket Master you learned about their hopes, dreams, and motivations. I liked that.
I also love how diverse those motivations are. From the hopeless romantic to the ambitious capitalist, everyone is represented.
Oh, cool, time to watch some old pone and get that nostalgia train rolling.

I don't hate it, but the main thing is that the plot is just a cliche. I mean I don't mind a little predictability in my cartoon pony show, but this just had me rolling my eyes at how many times I had seen it before. Also a couple of minor things, like Twilight acting as if Applejack and Rainbow Dash have equally good reasons to go to the Gala when Rainbow Dash's idea is completely retarded and unrealistic (for that matter, so is Rarity's). But also, the way AJ, Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie silently pressure Rainbow Dash into giving up the ticket after they do. It's just a bitchy thing to do imo, if they gave it up they should be willing to let someone else have it instead of letting it go to waste.
I also think some people were put off by Rarity's fantasy being too "girly". Remember, this is early on in the show when some people might not be entirely comfortable with the fact they're watching My Little Pony and might not want to be reminded of it to forcefully.

Actually, now that I think about it, that's not true. I would have royally fucked up in this episode if I were Twilight. I would have given the two tickets to Applejack and Rainbow Dash in the first scene to avoid a conflict, and then everybody else would be disappointed with me when they found out I had tickets. I probably wouldn't think of writing Celestia to ask for more until then, when the damage was already done.

If I was Twilight in that situation, I would give it to AJ, probably. She was the first to ask and has the most chivalric reason to go. Dash just wants to crash a performance thinking it will end in any other way other than her being escorted by the security, Rarity wants to fuck, Fluttershy wants to go to the zoo and Ponk wants to get shitfaced.
Although if the question was just who would be my plus one to the Gala personally, I must say either Rarity or Pinkie.

when they say "many moons ago" I think it's a way of just saying "many full moons" or "moon cycles", which would be almost a month. Saying "1000 moons ago" would be like "1000 months ago". IMO...

The simplicity of the early show is long gone, and with it some of its charm as well. It changed in tone, and not that I'm not having fun with current seasons, but it's S1 that made me fall in love with FiM.
On the other hand, we got some grandiose songs, much better animations, more world building and villains. Although I liked NMM more than Tirek and his epic finale fight.
I also kind of miss the old expressions, they were simple and looked weird sometimes, but they worked and were more cute. After a while they started going a bit over the top with all the expressions.

As someone who also still likes the show, I have to agree with you. However, S1 will always exist, so I'm fine with some of the new directions they've taken. If the show didn't evolve and we just had 5 seasons of S1 I don't think the show would have lasted or been as big as it is now.

Every Saturday there used to be a board with dozens of streams for the new aired episode. Why not stream every Saturday a new episode and the regular scheduled time as if the episode was playing live? Then you would have a regular time and can get everyone to watch because it would be like they are still airing. Problem solved.

Something the Mentally Advanced episode pointed out is that if you get sent two tickets for that sort of event, you're probably expected to bring a date rather than one of your friends. This is something the Mane 6 don't even consider.
