For the records, they're supposed to be based on genres of music that were popular during certain decades.
Adagio = 80's Disco.
Aria = 90's Grunge.
Sonata = 00's Pop.
Probably has something to do with their personalities, too. I can see the connection with Aria and Sonata to their decades, but I'm not sure how Disco - Evil and Controlling.
