Indeed. I'm probably committing blasphemy by saying this, but I've always felt that most versions of 12 Days Of Christmas kinda drag. I guess that's sorta the point, but it's still a bit tedious on repeated listenings, since you're bound to hear it several times during December.
The constantly shifting tempos and instruments between every iteration in the Pinkie version make it a lot of fun to listen to, if you can bear how over-the-top jubilant it is. After four years of Ponk, it's a piece of cake to digest for me.

It's so out of place, in literally every way. Everyone of the mane six and Spike got their own song that fits their personality well, they all got to sing the first track as a group, and the album includes the very Christmasy Equestrian anthem.
All of those mentioned songs are great, there's a nice balance of upbeat songs, hymns and ballads, everyone got to participate roughly equally, and since it's strictly for MP3 download there was literally no need for any filler tracks.
I have no idea what the thought process was behind the inclusion of the coal song. It's not just bad, it's also terribly out of place, and no one even knows who the singer is.
Just horrible.

I have to admit, I didn't hate Brotherhooves Social. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't good, and it was almost never funny, but that ending made me think that the writers had good intentions with the whole thing. I see it slightly differently now.
It's extremely meta though. Big Mac impersonates a mare to fit into an all female competition because he feels overlooked, and the whole competition becomes a trainwreck as a result. It's actually brilliantly poetic when you think about it.
If only it didn't suck.

No one does it. Ever. It's not what is done. You do something and wash your hands of it. Honestly part of the reason why animation isn't taken seriously as an art form is because VAs are so apathetic to pushing the roles that they do. Some are adamant that they get into character yes, but they usually don't actually THINK about the character they're playing. They're not actually engaged in the medium and think that just because you stand behind a mike that you can think about a character's motivations/role less.
We've done a better job recently I think. When was the last time you heard about Tara Strong? Whenever an episode comes out all the praise and criticism goes towards people like Jim Miller and the storyboard artists, not the VAs.

Strictly in terms of vocals I'm mainly referring to that pep rally chanting in the chorus, but the overall song most closely resembles Awesome As I Wanna Be in sound. Dash has only had one solo song in the show, I'll Fly, and the arrangement of Jingle Bells doesn't resemble that one at all.
