Arkquest was a medieval adventure kind of quest. Never actually happened, but the QM had a really neat idea for garnering players.
Basically, he needed a bunch of background characters, but instead of going to the deviantart pony maker or whatever, he asked Anons to post their OCs and they'll show up as characters that'll probably die.

I could've taken over Coltshan's Fire Emblem-inspired quest, but as much as I like that series, it doesn't seem like the best fit for CYOA. Too much math and interlocking numerical stats. I have been pondering doing something Valkyria Chronicles or XCOM-inspired for a long time, but knowing me it would (at best) turn into a lighter and softer RGS where I'd be too pussy to let ponies die except in the most extreme of circumstances, and I don't think there's much clamor for that.

Unique may or may not return. Probably the former but I will admit that I'm having trouble running it. I almost feel likethe best way to get it off the group is to do a quasi-reboot at this point.

As for my thoughts on the finaleI fucking loved how Starlight acted as a villain in the finale. Her banter with Twilight and the way she outwitted her was great. But yeah, her motivation was kinda shitty and not really explained properly. It's really silly to think that she got this crazy super radical viewpoint and egomania just because some friend of hers moved away, that just doesn't make any sense.They really should have done two things: Focus more time on it and cut out some of the extraneous timelines (maybe Spike entirely too, he had no real purpose being there. And I'm not just saying that as a 'lel spike's a fag way'.) OR keep it vague as fuck as then expand on her backstory in an episode in S6. You should improvise most things and work on establishing the setting and characters to fit into those improvisation. Have the widest possible assortment of tools that can be open-ended enough to be slotted in easily in reaction to what your players want.
build a world that doesn't just exist for the sake of the plot you had planned because odds are, you'll end up doing something completely different from what you expect.

Your world-building should mostly be creating a list of things that are independent of player influence that can colour your world and a list of rules that govern how your characters behave and how you will QM. Then you can improvise under those constraints.
oh, also make notes on the small details you improv on. You can call back to them later and make it all look like part of a plan and it helps keep your world consistent.

Narrow the scope for us, are you an existing QM? What quest? If not, what type of quest are you trying to make?

Night class in knitting is something I will work in the untouched character's story, it's official. That said, I mostly wanted general "one size fits all plotlines" advice as a foundation, but alright. Here goes.
I am not a QM right now. This not even started Quest is about 4 playable characters, living in a period that is about 50-80 years before Season 1 Episode 1. No it won't be a multiplayer quest like that one fag suggested, it will be more like Wild ARMs with multiple protagonists, one will be chosen at the start of a new thread and will be used until either a plot point requires another MC, or we get a new thread. They all are gifted with a special power and a lot of the story involves fighting, friendship, and striking poses. I have a mechanic written up for how poses work, that's how vital they are.
After the prologues, which range from adventures to mystery, the characters all end up in Ponyville for various reasons, like "hey buttmunch, i have a friend who knows why you have weird powers now, he's in some redneck town called ponyville, talk to him while I go through your porn stash" and "hey its time to get a scholarship, let's go help with construction in this town." The main plot revolves around another mystery, action, and is most likely going to be somewhat dark. Not "oh shit its time to be evil, hold on guys i gotta emasculate a colt and rape him to show how edgy i am up in this bitch" dark, but "aw fuck he was killed just like that" dark.
I can't think of what else I should say, because I'm nervous about spoilers and I'm hitting a blank. What else do you need?

Like, you could have the characters hired as mercenaries to clear some bandits out of a town, or you could have one of the characters hunting down a someone who killed his family member and the other three tag along, and stuff could happen along the way, or you could go the opposite direction and have the main cast planning bank and train robberies or acting as some sort of frontier mob and slowly extorting all of the small towns for "Protection Money".
I mean, these ideas are terrible, but you know what I mean right?

But yeah, I getcha. It's not a cowboy story though, sorry. I picked Wild ARMs because of the multi-perspective story and it's a badass game. But now I want to make a Western quest later.
Though, why would the other three tag along with a vengeful protagonist, aside from "you kicked my ass so I gotta join you?"

Well, then my first idea is to introduce a lore dump NPC, like a librarian. This serves the dual purpose of fansperging because you get to visit the treehouse before twilights time and it gives the players somewhere to go if they need help.
My second idea in addition to the npc would be to have the un-used player characters be the source of quest ideas to help establish their motivations and character. Players will listen to their squad mates and consider their needs, it will also colour how that character is played in the future.
Your players have strange powers they don't fully understand? Have them hear about a trinket related to their powers. Your characters could be frightened by their power and want something that could inhibit or remove it, or they could embrace their new skill and look for ways to expand it. Freaky time control powers? Turns out the princesses long ago controlled the seasons with the solstice hourglass and you the player want to find that.
You could have a character be a regular adventurer who only came to ponyville because it's close to the rail-hub but with less guard oversight, such a character could be motivated to tag along with the others interests by the promise of wealth or just plain old adventure, depending on how you write him. He could also be the one to suggest adventures.
You could have a disgraced guard angle where he see's the power as a new lease on his ability to help others and he would suggest quests that orient around helping people.
You could just have the plot bash their door in and have something attack ponyville and your characters react to protect it. Maybe the four of them save the town from a Hydra and their kinship and reputation stems from that? They could come to enjoy their fame and reap further rewards by helping other towns. Maybe hollow shades comes to them about a mysterious monster in their woods. etc.
