I hate to be a neigh sayer, and I especially hate all the people yelling "MLP IS OVER ITS THE END," but I do have to say, at least in the merch department they're definetly scaling down. While looking for stuff for my Giftee, I've noticed a bunch of places online have either taken down the sections they've had for years dedicated to MLP and just lumped them in with everything else, and vastly lowered their inventory.
Hot Topic used to have 2 (at their peak 3) pages of just MLP stuff, each page holding somewhere around 25-30 items. Now they have 1 page with about 12 items. Even the brick and mortar stores I go to (one at home and one at school), they used to have a whole display rack dedicated to it, now it's just scattered throughout the store.
Build a Bear is also ending their MLP line, so when they run out, that's it. Already no more Celestia. Glad I got mine over the summer.
The main page of the Funko website where they display all of their current IPs doesn't have MLP listed out of 87 products, you have to search their site for it. Perhaps they're trying to promote other brands.
Perhaps the big fanfare of a movie (one that sounds like it will be advertised more, not the select showings of EQG) will pump back a bit more hype from the general public, but that's a ways away.

the hobby shops have scaled down their mlp gear significantly. But I feel like thats because mlp isn't a big booming "holy shit" thing anymore, so for hobby shops to keep it doesnt make sense, where as walmart and such, it still works
that being said, i'll probably set aside some money to buy more mlp gear after i get my present this year and know exactly what i have (dont want to buy duplicates)

What sort of stories would ponies tell on/about Hearths Warming? I mean, we know the core story, more or less, but our culture certainly has more stories about Christmas than the birth of Christ.
The holidays are superficially pretty similar, but one is a religious holiday about the coming of an incarnation of God heralding the beginning of mercy through the mechanism of sacrifice for the sake of others and the other is a nationalist holiday about overcoming racism in the face of adversity and common struggle to found a country.
I feel like that would significantly change the nature of the stories told to impart the "true meaning of the holiday" and just hotswapping ponies into Christmas stories might not work right.

Since my local Tesco started having an "American" section here in Britbong land, filled with such delights as Twinkies, Lucky Charms, Oreo Jello, Pumpkin pie filling in a tin, egg nog, HUGE marshmallows, Milk Duds, Charleston Chew and fucking cinnamon chewing gum I've been able to sample many things I'd only heard about in comics and the movies.
They are nearly all revolting. Exception for Milk Duds. Once you get past the faux-chocolate the caramel isn't actually half bad, and a box lasts all day. Honourable mention for a Tootsie Roll. Doesn't taste of much, but if you fancy chewing something for a while it's great.
