Fluttershy >>25578944

AJ was announced and put up for pre-order within the last 48 hours

idk about the rest though
as far as why it took so long, who the fuck knows?

Stopped giving a shit when they didn't deliver years ago
>>
>>25599214
There has been confirmation of people receiving Fluttershy, Rainbow, and Rarity.
4de just announced that they are shipping AJ, but I don't think anyone has her yet.
I don't know why it took 2 years but 4de is finally shipping pre-orders now.
The only place that currently lists some 4de as "in stock" is Amazon, every other vendor currently has them listed as "pre-order" with TBD shipping date.

I believe the 4DE Fluttershy is starting to ship, so at 25 bucks that's probably the best deal on a good one. They will eventually get around to Trixie but that could be a while so if arrogant blue unicorns are your thing you'd have to look elsewhere.
>>
>>25603785
Build-a-Bear is probably your best bet. The hair isn't that great but they're cuddly and soft beyond belief. Might wanna hurry, though. Rumor has it Build-a-Bear is retiring the MLP line sometime soon.

how much was all of that money for just the dress though? But I totally get that you were practically making a full sized wedding dress, so any price wouldn't surprise me.

In other news: Since I can't work on my cello due to lack of thread, I started on my Octi beanie. I have NO idea if the pattern is going to work. As best as I can tell it should but I'm having difficulty visualizing the leg/hip region. Got all the pieces cut out. Not looking forward to the cutiemark again. It's such a massive pain in the ass. I think I'd almost be better off just satin stitching a treble clef instead of trying to cut out a tiny piece of satin. Especially since it kept ripping in places last time when sewing.

If I may interject for a moment, what you're referring to as a backslash is actually a forward slash, or simply slash, represented by /.
Backslash is actually \, and is mostly used for directory addresses in your operating system.
Slash ( / ) is the slash that is used for internet addresses.
>>
>>25615228
And if I may interject, the only commonly used operating system that uses back slashes in directory structures is Windows. All derivative Unix and Unix like operating systems (MacOS, Linux, Android, etc) use forward slashes. This is partly why they are used in URIs

>I don't know if it would be right to start selling beanies made from it.
on etsy:
This pattern is for PERSONAL USE ONLY!
Please do not sell plushies made with this pattern. You may use them for gifts, trades, donations, charities, giveaways, or other non-profit uses. You are welcome to modify the pattern, but selling is still prohibited, both of the plush and modified pattern. If you post the finished plush online, please give credit to me for making the pattern.

>>
>>25616521
Precisely my point. I'd rather just work on my own pattern based off the free one that was given out in the thread months and months ago. MLW's effort on her beanie pattern shouldn't be for other's profit. Maybe if my nieces get into the show (and my pattern fails) then I'd buy it to sew them some stuffed animals. My mother told me they were fighting over the prototype Lyra I made during Thanksgiving.

Oh dear god no. I made a shitty Lyra where the mane only came to like the top of the head and it looked retarded. The eyes were done with a sewing machine attempting embroidery without stabilizer. The lewd Lyra I have I kind of want to seam rip the lewd off so I can display it.. That would be relatively easy to do.

4DE is located in Sacramento, CA but packages I've received from them before shipped from Carmichael, CA armed with that information
you can use this to determine your zone
http://postcalc.usps.gov/Zonecharts/
(click on the 'Get Zone for ZIP Code Pair' pair, Origin should be 95608)
as for weight when you add up the plush (I don't know the weight but 1 to 2 pounds would be a rough estimate) and the box and packaging I couldn't see the total weight being over 2 or 3 pounds.
of course knowing all this doesn't get you the plush any sooner but at least it's something

The lyra literally just has a tube of blue fleece sewn in. Two reasons I want to get rid of it though.. One because it'd be nice to put on the shelf, two because stained fabric is really hard to explain if someone sees it. I would like to make another Lyra eventually out of minky since these ones are fleece. In the end it would be cool to see a timeline of my plushies all in a row.

>>25618076
I think you bought the same kind of scissors as me. They are really nice for going through minky. Especially compared to an old pair. Just don't use them for cutting paper. Use an old pair for that. You also have the same speakers I used to have like 9 years ago. Is this your first plushie?
>>
>>25618305

Ha, maybe I AM you. Yes, I have had these speakers forever too.

Yup! First plush. Here we go.
Question! Do I cut a hole in the flank for the cutie mark? Or do I sow on top of it?
Also is this really Maud's mark?
>>
>>25618359
There are a couple different ways to do the CM. Embroidery, applique, or there is one Anon who did cut a hole for I think Nurse Redheart. But generally no you don't cut out a hole unless you're using that Anon's specific method. Look up a guide on applique or embroidery.
>>
>>25618395
>guide on applique or embroidery.
Im hand sowing it though. No machine.
>>
>>25618407
Oh. Welp... Then the only solutions I think are to order embroidery from EP or someone else, learn to hand embroider which I've heard is horrible, or use like silk screen printing. (Or just buy a cheap machine to start.)
>>
>>25618407
>>25618441
There are a few ways to do it. I covered hand applique in the step-by-step guide in the OP, or you could do an iron-on.
>>
>>25618492
>Iron-on,
Only if it's not minky. Not supposed to because it melts it. But the fabric for Maud looks like fleece or something so it doesn't matter in this situation I think.

I"ll post pics of the unboxing when I get it.
>>
>>25618542
I iron stuff onto minky all the time for applique and I haven't had any issues yet.
>>
>>25618359
First time making a plush and you pick one that has a dress on it? Lol ok.
>>
>>25618607
Really? Huh. There might be a certain way to do it that doesn't melt the fabric. I just avoid it. Although I have some nice embroidery iron-on patches that I've had for over a year now and never used. I'm thinking they're probably too small but if not it would be really nice to use them on my ls Rainbow. I'm just scared I'll screw up an entire body piece and waste a patch.

I actually meant a real spider with pone plushies but geeze. EP seems to be OP at plush making. What I'd give for an embroidery machine. I absolutely hate applique. But I don't foresee myself being able to pay off an embroidery machine via plush making.
>>
>>25619848
so, why not commission EP to do the embroidery for you?
I'm having that done for my LS Dash
ups the overall DIY pricing, but still makes it less than 400 overall. easily 1/3rd the average price for a LS
>>
>>25619971
Not sure how it works to commission embroidery from her. I don't know what size of eye I need. Also how would the price go up that much? The fabric is less than $100, thread and everything else less than $50. To hit $400 that would be a $250 embroidery. I'm all for EP's quality but not for that price. Can find iron-ons on Etsy for $10-15.

So here's a question I don't think has been asked yet. How much does the thread cost and where do you buy it? I wonder what the price/quality difference is between like Walmart and an actual crafting store. Also I guess after you get the right colors the first time you can always buy online.
>>
>>25621479
That is a good question. I bought some white thread from Kmart to repair a wing root on a pegasus pony and found it was not thick enough, had to double it up. All I know is that I recently learned that polyester thread is way stronger than rayon thread.

this way, I know she's gonna look great and I got to support a great plush maker

It's not really competing with the average prices anymore. It's competing with the quality and, most importantly, having a clientele base. There are 500+ mediocre not-so-well-known plush makers that don't charge hardly anything. Still can't get commissions because nobody knows them. At this point the market is so hard to break into--and the series is almost over--so it's not a good idea.

For ordering the 4DE plushies, what would be the best bet, on 4DE's website or elsewhere?
>>

cuddly as fuck
which one(s) did you order?

>>25627115
atm, you're better off going elsewhere
4DE as far as I know are still shipping pre-orders first
they said once they are done with that, the "pre-order" status on the pics on their site will be removed

Alright thank you Anon, sorry for any questions that have been asked before, appreciate the assistance.

As for me, I'm ordering AJ and a closed wing Twilight, but I'm planning to get all of them eventually.

Why is Celestia and a few other ponies crossed off the 4de list? Were they cancelled?
>>
>>25626862

I'm looking for a plushie that has some nice detail and soft. I'm looking at about 10" tall?
>>
>>25627087
How much?
>>
>>25625318
>white
Oh, hey, I have a small amount of white if you'd like it. Have a shit ton of white scraps, too, but I don't know how big you need it.

Furthermore, white, off-white, or snow? I have it all.
>>
>>25627336
>>25627336
Id love to do it, I've only made a few so far so I wouldn't expect perfection but I've gotten pretty good over the last couple months (I made the pencil butt Rarara)
>>
>>25627568
Any white would do. And just enough for the cloud of a life-size cutiemark. And maybe a couple small ones. In total I think like maybe 12x12. In scraps probably closer to like two 3x4 or 4x5 pieces for the life size. And I'll probably just pick up some dotted minky and iron it or MAYBE Joann's has white in the store.

Beware, Joann's isn't the same quality, length, or stretch. If you ordered minky for the rest of her, I'd get real minky.

But, seriously, I have so much scrap I don't know what to do with it. This might be 10% of the SNOW specifically colored scraps. Not counting the rest of the white shades, or the butt loads of other scraps in other colors. I got a bit wasteful this last beanie round. I'll try never to do that again, lol.

If you're interested, shoot me an email.

can't tell, but I think the hat is sewn on
>>
>>25627791
Yeah but it's only for a cm. Not worried so much about it being the best. If I can't find any white in the store when all my stuff gets here I'll hit you up. :] All my scraps were big enough but they were all the wrong direction to use.

not saying it's a bad thing, just kinda funny that there's a wall of AJ plushies out of nowhere
>>
>>25629364
Jesus christ that's horrifying looking.

I have noticed AJ's been climbing up there in popularity polls lately too, then again she's actually been interesting and doing shit unlike little miss "I'm a pretty princess but I do jack shit!"

Like all plushies.. If they came in a set of 6 that would be god damn incredible to have hanging around.

UPS didn't ring the freaking doorbell.. But... FIRST. OMG THEY'RE HERE. I'm a tad disappointed that AJ's hat is sewn on but at least I can't lose it that way. All their patterns are sewn slightly differently and my Rarity's muzzle is kind of messed up. But I have a second one of those so we shall see how it goes.
