I was assuming that Barneyfag was an actual person named barney (like the half-life security guard) who was either namefagging and role-playing relentlessly, or was just embarrasing himself by posting photos of himself doing stupid shit.

I hopped on the ride right after season two, so I've seen my share of drama in this fandom, but the level of hostile, rabid idiocy I've seen from the haters is the most idiotic and immature shit I've ever seen in my life.
It's Westborough Baptist Church level in it's bad faith and fervour, there just haven't been quite as many deaths and suicides they've gloated at, and it hasn't been done publicly enough to get mainstream notice, plus, the fandom hasn't been the recipient of generations of social engineering to encourage acceptance of it.
