Hi drawfriends. For anyone familiar with the Cup, we're in the planning stages of our /mlp/ pre-season test stream and I had an idea that I'm looking for some help with. Give it a few weeks. I really don't want to critique a piece when you're in the process of getting used to a new medium. The only thing that really sticks out to me is that the size of the legs isn't consistent and her muzzle is a bit wide. Your chicken scratch is really bad but I can't tell if it's because your new to using a tablet or if it's a bad habit. Either way work on getting rid of it.

Your perspective is all fucked. You need to make the hind legs bigger and larger. The tail needs to start more in the center of her body, so make it behind her neck. Her hips should also be wider, unless you want to make rarity a fat pone, whichnis fine with me.
The head is fine, but the features on it isn't. Her horn needs to be longer and thicker. Her mane should be bigger and same with her ears.

You added a middle and center line, yet didn't utilize them correctly. The mouth should be parallel with the middle line instead of being along the view point. This will make your head look less round. You could also add a line for the raised cheek, but that might ruin things.

You've made the head very rough. Are you really comfortable making heads like that? I understand why you made your Maud sketch, but with Fluttershy? No insult intended, but attempt to make it look solid and round like how the weebs do it with their loli animes.
Talking with autism, Fluttershy would be a slim pony. Her neck shouldn't be that thick or with contours that long. A way to fix it is to only draw the contour on the right side and make it shorter.
You need to work on perspective more. Not saying its bad, but some things look off. Her left foreleg is thinner than her right. Her right hindleg is also longer than her left. What would help me draw at odd angles is establishing a 4 square grid where each leg would rest.
All in all, mad fucking cute picture. Don't worry about the colors a whole lot. They look fine. If you want to improve your coloring, try studying some books regarding the subject. You can also watch streams of artists coloring stuff as well.

I'm not sure what this question means. Overall I make my pones the way I personally find them appealing. I like my pony heads a little elongated horizontally. If you're the anon who critiqued my old sketches, I tend to emphasize the cheek area. It kind of reminds me of CaptainPudgeMuffin and perhaps I'm taking a subconscious queue from him. I'm not really sure why but I like this. My taste is bound to change over time. I kept the shoulders going into the barrel bigger and the waist small. I kind of like this proportion and will probably experiment with it. Does it belong on Fluttershy? Probably not. She does have a bit of a Leno jaw going on due to the perspective and that's something I'll watch out for.

With coloring, every person has a certain style. It's kind of a constant cycle of learning how to color better, you color and color and color and then eventually find yourself nitpicking over the tiniest of mistakes that aren't visible to anyone else and spending most of the coloring job trying to clean up the original sketch that someone has presented to you without actually editing too much.
Your method seems interesting however I'm looking forward to the refined version of it.
What is the program that you are using and also did you draw this from scratch?

Heh, I actually had colored in her hair the first time. I just made the bg too close to her mane colour so it blended and made it look like I didn't colour it at all. My bad.

Paint Tool Sai. All I did was put in the values using a hard, round brush (http://i.imgur.com/3bssUyc.png), made a separate layer and set it to Overlay and painted over with the colors I wanted.

That's cute but you've made the top of her head too big. It's like it's in this weird perspective but her body isn't in the same perspective. The fact that she's looking up at the viewer only emphasizes this oversight.

Actually, the fun moment is - once I've tried to draw this exact perspective you're saying about, but I was working with a very little space (like 2cm x 2cm), and after a few inaccurate lines here and there, I've ended up with a cute looking chibi. I've tried to recreate it in a larger scale several times - all unsuccessful. UNTIL NOW.

The simple cartoony way to do it is to use a 10-25% opacity white layer in the direction of the light source. You can kinda see it in my latest thingy, although I didn't exactly nail it because I rushed it a little.
My light source was above, behind, and slightly to the left. Therefore, I used the lighting layer to the top left regions of her body. To compliment I did the same exact thing with a black layer to the bottom right.
