"Brony" is not a physical condition or anything quantifiable, it's a label, a social construct created so that people can easily categorize and organize the world around them and so that people can build their identities from their social, personal and physical selves.
In the context of greater society anyone who is both an adult and a fan of MLP: FiM is a brony. This is not something that can be avoided.
Additionally, I am not against them, I am not against anyone who isn't a hypocrite or a bigot. Those are the only two things that I simply can't stand when it comes to personal attitudes.

Something I've never really understood what is /mlp/ definition of brony? Is it a distinction between people who enjoy the show privately with minimal powerlevel exposure and those fags that walk around in rainbowdash hoodies? The distinction is more than just how much power level you display. Bronies tend to make their fandom experience almost religious. The whole "love and tolerate" motto, the community of people who do not recognize societal mores, the proselyting of the show.
Meanwhile, horsefuckers are fully aware of the fringe status of their interest. I imagine most of us were bronies at one point, but then we realized how embarrassing we were, and clamped down on our power level. The culture here is more relaxed. In this safe space, we are free to post about whatever we like, even if it is a terrible fetish. We don't seek fandom prominence, just more good fanworks.
