...as GCHQ & the NSA have already compromised the Deep Web (a friend of mine - Home Office & MI6-cleared, signed the Official Secrets Act, and constantly supervised by an MI6 operative whilst working - is contracted to work on GCHQ's supercomputers four times a year, told me that they've cracked it's encryption; GCHQ = Bletchley Park & Alan Turing raping Hitler's Enigma in WWII), no I wouldn't want a pre-raped pone, thanks.

but if GCHQ's raping of the Deep Web ensures ISIS here in the UK & USA - as MI6 shares it's intel on is-lame-ist terrorists with the CIA & NSA - have their plans raped in turn, then rape away, The Man.

Linux is a god-tier OS. Every time I'm forced to use Windows, I feel like throwing up. The amount of pop-ups, adware, and just shit in general (even in the default OS. FUCK Control Panel) is astounding.

Also, being able to rice, and generally customize way beyond a wallpaper, is pretty nice.
>>
>>25478820
>>25478893
I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!
>>

I use Lubuntu (so LXDE+Openbox+whatever Lubuntu devs customize). I like the simplicity and clean looks combined with the general-purpose availability of Ubuntu.

Eventually I want to try Arch with i3, but I'm definitely happy with what I have. It's simple and clean.

Nice! If you don't mind me asking, what kind of specs do you run? I usually don't see anyone running LXDE unless they're on a RasPi; all of the 'ultralites' use i3 or XFCE.

I've always imagined a ponified version of avast's safezone browser being like an overprotective mother towards the user. Just dumping an idea.

Yeah, the other reason I use Lubuntu that I didn't mention is because I literally run decade-old hardware (parts of it at least). This GPU is connected over AGP and the most powerful one retrofitted with it. Somehow, it supports hardware acceleration, which is pretty much the thing that makes this system bearable to use. Non-hardware accelerated browsers like Firefox even tear during scrolling.
>>
>>25487690
At least you have 64-bit support, heh. I'm running on a 2006 Mac Mini on my Desktop; >>25486961
and >>25486474 are both my computers. I generally use Surf (much faster and lighter than FF) if I'm in i3, but Firefox/Iceweasel works better in Gnome 3 due to tab support.

What browser do you use, then? It looks like you have Chrome and Steam, so that's pretty cool. Somehow, I got Higan running for SNES/NES/GB/GBA games, which is nice, but it's pretty slow.
>>
>>25487857
Yeah, I use Chrome. I do have Firefox installed, but I actually do also prefer Chrome and don't simply use it for the hardware acceleration.

Steam for Linux is pretty cool, I do get a bunch of games I like to actually run that way. Luckily I'm not that big into FPS's and other CPU and GPU-intensive games, so most games I like actually do run on my hardware. For non-Linux games I still have my xp partition that I can boot into. I separated it entirely from the Internet after support ended and switched to Lubuntu as my daily driver. Funnily, I can actually run the steam instance from my Windows partition through wine, and even update it, so that I can still get to play new Windows-only steam games.

I barely use emulators, so I can't comment on that.

Yeah, last time I used Steam on Linux, it was in i3. Steam was not happy about that. Problems were had. That is all.

So, /mlp/. Daily driver: OSX, Windows, Linux, BSD, Haiku, or other?

Raspberry Pi isn't an OS, it's still usually running on Linux (I think BSD works on it too, not sure).
