Half of what makes Fallout Equestria so cool is that its a mix between like Cyberpunk/diselpunk and High Fantasy. You have dudes in bulky armor but you also have like alicorns with magical spells, forests that are magically protected from harm. Dragons turned into carpet bombers.

Use fantasy elements for the love of christ.

Also horror, we need more stories with horror elements.

oh christ. LEVITY. how do we manage to go for hundreds of uninterrupted pages of angst and gore on rotation. Unless a story is running with "comedy" as part of its stated premise the MO seems to be to never touch jokes ever.

Horror is not so much being scared its about being confronted by horror itself, you don't need to be scary to be horror. While horror is possibly the most subjective genre possible and important thing to keep in mind is that in horror emotion plays a huge part of it all.

Horror to me should always either be about the familiar, futility or the unknowable.

Familiar horror comes from seeing the monster within ourselves, being reminded of the horrible things we can do to others and by extension do to ourselves, the typical examples for this are stuff like war movies, The Joker, HAL 9000, The Matrix Zombies as well to a lesser extent.

Futile horror comes from being presented by a chain of events you are powerless to stop. An unstoppable force that asserts to us that all your struggles and all your hardships mean nothing this is for example is like Dark Souls DEFCON and post Apocalypse movies like The Road or something.

And the Unknowable horror is about being presented by the alien and the unthinkable, things we struggle to comprehend and never will truly understand, this is where your Cthulus and Azathoths come under as well as stuff like The Mist and Alien.

This is again all my personal interpretation of Horror, horror is a hugely subjective genre, I'm just offering my beliefs as I like talking and writing Horror.

Where is his mask? His distorted face? These kinds of mad villains are always better off with something distinguishing to let you distance yourself from them more. Like a golden tooth, an ugly scar, a blind eye, etc. Like every Sith with the exception of Count Dooku, and pretty much every classic Bond villain. TwoFace, The Joker, Tom Hardy, the list goes on.

Even in Fallout Equestria it was obvious. It's odd how so many sidefics/evil oc's miss this.

I don't think he looks very relatable nor normal. But that's what I found impressive with Red Eye, that despite going for this approach he managed to be convincing (but ultimately failing in the end) with his philosophy. But that's not Red Eye being relatable, is it? That's looking upon him as someone who's a step ahead. Someone wiser and better than you are. Someone to potentially look up to, if you fall for his speeches, anyway.
