Honestly, all of the mane 6 would make great girlfriends....they are after all designed to be appealing and likable females. Just depends on which flavor you like.....in fact, imagine if the mane 6 all formed into one being...would anything be more perfect?
Flutters, and Rarara are definitely out, both my girlfriends had bad emotional problems that appealed to my "good nature" for about 2 weeks before I got bored.
Pinkie is also out because one of my girlfriend's bubbly personality wasn't enough to keep me around. Nothing particularly wrong with Pinkie, I just don't mesh well with people like her in relationships.
I'd probably get tired of Rainbow's clinginess.
It's definitely between Bookhorse and Applejack since they both have good work ethic and would probably keep you on the straight and narrow path, though I'd prefer Twilight since she'd be more educated and seems interested in helping others learn. A stable, supportive girlfriend is a great girlfriend.
Of course, different strokes for different folks. Some people love playing babysitter, so FS, RY, or RD might interest them, but I prefer not to be the only pillar of the relationship.

Well, I can say one thing:
I wouldn't have to just assume, we all know this (Of course you don't, I'm another Anon.) relationship stuff would have to come with a lot of getting used to, informational exchange, and trust building for the whole time.
I myself had found myself stabbed in the back three times by the same girl, while I remained faithful, and it has as such, created a psychological wall of which derives me from any sort of immediate or imminent female situations, meetings, face-to-face talking tos, etc. And has therefore left me with either: A harsh and strong temporary mental imprint of a weak but permanent mental mark. Neither of which I think I'll recover fully, but it'd all have to be about the personality inside a closed relationship style. We haven't seen any of the 6 in love, and Twi's Waifu Thief doesn't count, so what would we have to go off of if selecting one to date?
Nothing.
But I do like to imagine.
Even though it gets me nowhere.Because even the smallest, shimmering bit of home that I can grasp can make more of a difference in my life by making me smile for the future for once instead of fearing it as I try to remain in the cold hollow shell I'll always call my past.

Appul does the least amount of retarded bullshit, but even she comes across as kind of petulant on the rare occasion, and it seems like she likes to be in charge of the stallions in her life. Basically you'd have to ask yourself if you're happy in a role of obedience or if you've got the patience and diplomatic skill to handle that.
The others are all way too neurotic. Flutterhsy pulls in second, but she'd be intensely clingy, and after the shine of the relationship wore off she'd constantly be draining your energy to restore her own self-confidence and it would become a dependent, toxic mess.
