There is no hard thing. Only your willpower can make the difference. Give up now and you'll regret forever. Give up now and you'll give up things forever.

Good. It's best to give up when you know you can't do something rather then to continue and be berated for it. Leave it to the artist, OP.

>>25351230
Start by looking at how other people draw their ponies and look at the shapes relationships to the guidelines. Btw you should sketch them. Not draw a thick line as though you were inking it.

Manga studio 5 is 30 bucks, crossplatform, and has a stabilizer. It's basically paint tool Sai (what most people use aside from photoshop) that's in english and doesn't cost $80.

I'm not a very good artist but I've still managed to post some art stuff on different websites. It can be hard sometimes because you might feel that you'll never get better but you just gotta remind yourself that you're not other artists. Do it faggot
Spend an hour a day doing research of how to sketch, infographics are your biggest allies, and so the artists that reveal their secrets like doxy.
Get interested in what you gonna draw cuz you are about to spend some quality time with your sketchbook (dont jump on tablet), think "yeah, im gonna learn this shit today and master it in a week"
Spend the next hour sketching, draw messy circles with light strokes and the figure of some ponies, dont you dare to use your eraser stupid fuck
The next hour do something serious, take a request froman anon or just copy something, feeling bad? Upload your shit to derpi, someone will give you a fave and congrats, you made a person happy!

And even if you spend all that time learning to draw. Carpal tunnel, shaking with old age, lose of eye sight, anything can end it for you. And you won't have the financial backing if you had lead a more lucrative career.

Think of how many artists who are 40, 50, 60+ that you know. Who still make a living off their art. When with a better job you could retire early and live the good life.

Maybe you'll regret not learning art, but you'll regret being poor you whole life and if you are lucky to have any, your kids growing up poor as well. Or your wife leaving you for a richer man or her getting an illness you can't afford to treat so you have to watch her die.

Is art really worth all that to you op?

I've used both - Manga Studio is VASTLY superior to Sai. The pen tool is so much better. It has so many incredible features that Sai doesn't, like - oh I dunno, exporting images with a transparent background for starters.

Maybe Sai does that now, I dunno. Point is, Manga Studio >>> Sai. It's just harder to get used to because it doesn't have so few options they're all laid out so you don't have to go looking for them.
>>
Drawing is fun.
>>
>>25361144
nope, whos that?
>>
>>25349515
Alright, where to start. First off, stop trying to learn using digital stuff. You’re making it about 10x harder than it needs to be. Secondly, all the faggots in here saying some people just have a gift are fucking wrong, and all those “talented” artists worked their ass off to get there.

Art is just like any other skill despite what people say, and with enough time and effort pretty much anybody can get good at it. The thing is, is it's fucking hard, frustrating, and you won’t see yourself improving because it's so gradual. You’ll want to quit some days. You’ll want to find something else easier to do others. But if you stick with it you’ll get better, although you’ll always see every single flaw in your work and think it's bad no matter how good you get.

The biggest thing to remember is it's going to take you years of hard practice to get to where your art even begins to compare to some of the good artists out there. I’m not sure what your end goal is. If you just want to be a hobbyist then just draw shit when you have time and you’ll slowly get better. If you want to be “good” then seriously think about it and try to understand the commitment that it entails to get “good”.

Don't expect to draw your greatest piece on your first go. Even if you feel like you have completed your project and it still looks shitty just start on a new one and return to it when you have improved. Draw as many different things as you can, the knowledge and skill you gain from one will be passed to another. Just start slow and take as much time as you want there is no big hurry, it's not like you can get worse with practice. Unless you go from pone to anthro.
>>
>>25366254
>just don't have the talent.
No such thing, Anon. People who are "talented" have just been working on it for a long time.

Part of your issue is that you're learning/fighting with software, while also trying to learn how to draw. Seriously, switch to traditional. Yea, it'll mean that every mistake will show up, but so what, you're still learning.

I wen't from traditional to digital with a mouse then bought a tablet. I still struggle with the tablet because I have less control over the software vs just using a mouse. This.
Look for your own art style. Do what you feels comfortable and do it with passion.
Now, also like how anon said, getting ideas from other artists is a great thing. For the most part, artists appreciate it when their styles influence other artists, and when their techniques/styles are taken, modified, and turned into something new. Sure, there's the occasional artist out there that doesn't want their style to be touched or anything, but whatever. If you can't draw, watch how other artists draw. Start out with mimickry, then work your way to a point until you feel comfortable. If you find that hard, take stills from the show and trace them to get a general idea of how pone is supposed to be assembled and laid out. Don't get too attached to tracing, though. You won't get far by doing that. Only trace as a kickstart. Upgrade to mimickry as soon as you can. Also don't tell anyone you traced.
Pic related. On the left ponies, you can see some obvious inspiration from Noben. The top left is straight from one of their pictures, but not traced. Drawn from observation, so to speak. The bottom left is a rework of it, altering the orientation and shape, to an extent. the right one is of my OC. Deal with it.. I adapted some of the styles of some other artists while adding a bit of my twists to it to get the final piece. It's also shamelessly one of my favorite sketch/working pages
It just takes practice, OP. Draw as much as you can and don't give up. Why not share some of your art with us?
>>
>>25366614
It really depends on what you consider good, what level do you wish to attain? If you are gunning to be the very best and praise from your peers then yes it will probably take you a few years to get there. Just draw to your own standards, and remember that art is a subjective thing. Do it for yourself draw the thing that you want to see and not what think others will like. Chances are if you like it then so will others.
>>
>>25366687
This.

If you're a complete, utter n00b to drawing, start by tracing. Then copy pictures from sight. Then copy an existing work but alter it in certain ways.

And for every step, once you finish, go over your picture and REVISE. Look where you made errors, fix them, draw the picture again. You cannot improve unless you look for HOW you fucked up.
