Not all of theme have prowess with telekinesis. We had Twilight struggling with large objects in the beginning of the series even though she embodies magic.
I prefer unicorns personally but they aren't a class of sagacious and powerful wizards. They're usually ponies who can conjure up a few spells related to daily tasks they do. Just like how most pegasi aren't fast fliers and most earth ponies aren't strong or fast runners.

Most pegasi architecture is clearly Greco-Roman in nature, an obvious nod to the namesake of the race. Since I don't have any Italian or Greek or Turkish (Since Byzantium was the last holdout of the Roman Empire) pegasus is out. Unicorns and Alicorns strike me as being European upper-class, with Alicorns being royalty, primarily populating castles, universities, and museums. Meanwhile the Earth Ponies are the European peasantry, primarily farmers, with various elements of European and American culture appearing in their customs. The majority of my ancestry is Russian, with German, English, Irish, and Polack making up the remaining half. Only a portion of my Russian ancestry could really be considered aristocracy, with the rest being a melting pot of European peasantry. That, coupled with my rural American upbringing make for the basis of an Earth Pony lineage.All these edgelords picking "dey favorite" without the slightest bit of introspection
