So lets see whats changed in the past 8 months and where the new season will fit into the rankings now that it's had roughly two weeks to settle.
Just to note. This survey assumes you've at least seen all the episodes, so feel free to make a list if you haven't seen them all and want to see how yours turns out. It just won't be included.

I wonder if Amending Fences or Crusaders of the Lost Mark are going to finally topple Return of Harmony from the #1 spot.
It's a great episode to stay up top so long, but every other episode seems to have moved around at least once on the chart except for that one.

I like this survey, and seeing the results afterwards, but is there anyway you could add a defining picture of the episode with each name during the sorting. While I remember each episode fairly well, I don't have each title memorized. I spend most of my time taking the survey looking up titles. I'm 11% and it has been almost 30 minutes. I'll keep going, but this shouldn't have to take 4+ hours.

One more note. Even with the lower ranked episodes I could still find things that I enjoyed. SayS, that's still on last place on my list, I really disliked Spike being this much out of character, but the mane 6 were a lot of fun during that episode.

Nothing is worse than SAYS. I could take a shit and rub it all over a piece of paper and the result would still look better than SAYS. SAYS is the unique result of two of the worst writers of the show (Dave Polsky and Merriwhether Williams) collaborating and it seems instead of fixing each other's flaws they managed to multiply these flaws so as to create a complete abomination of an episode.
What could be worse than SAYS? MMC? At least that had the songs going for it. One Bad Apple? The song was nice and I quite like Babs as a character. Apple Family Reunion? It was dull, but not necessarily bad and there was also the first hint of Applejack's parent being dead for real. Just for Sidekicks? Once again, it was just kind of boring and it was refreshing to see Angel not be a complete asshole for once. Games Ponies Play? It had its funny moments.
But SAYS? Fucking SAYS was an irredeemable piece of shit. Watching that episode makes me physically sick. It is my most hated episode of any show ever. Everything about that episode is fucking awful.

Is this copypasta? It reads like pasta but I guess every pasta was original at some point. Anyway, SAYS had plenty of funny, entertaining moments. The fake Timberwolf attack scene in particular was gold. You can say Spike's character was poorly written, and that's a fair point, but I'd still rather rewatch it than something like Too Many Pinkie Pies which I just found boring.

You couldn't be more wrong. I guess there's no point in arguing about it since everybody's tastes are different, but I just cannot bear to watch that episode. I bet I also liked a lot of episodes you might have hated. Granny Smith's story in Family Appreciation Day made me feel more than any other episode ever had (with the exception of Crusaders of the Lost Mark), but I'm sure a lot of people here found that episode terribly boring.

I tried doing it a week ago over the course of a day and when I got the results, I realized they were horseshit so I've been rewatching the entire seriesI'm pleasantly surprised how much I've enjoyed it. I ended up having to manually sort a decent lot of it (had 22 tie for first place), so I guess I just hit the 'I liked both' button too many times.
Decent ranking system - inconsistent opinions kind of messed with it though, where one episode was better than another just because it was bad, but other episodes were better than the first just because it was an ok episode, and so on.
There were actually a lot of moments during ranking for me where two alright episodes came up, and it was that neither one was really better, and then it was a tough decision between 'no opinion' (they were both bad or both ok) and 'i liked them both' (they were both decent/good).
So i'd say if anything add an extra "both" option - liked both, both were ok, no opinion, or something along those lines.
Was also hard to rank the movies in with the episodes, but it's whatever

Just...overall the episode that I enjoyed the most. I liked the musical theme to it, the songs were very enjoyable, and it felt like it put a cap on the end of the journey I had been on for the past three seasons. From a storytelling perspective, it was an satisfying evolution of her character.
It had music, it had ponies, it had laughs, it had feels, and at no point was I really finding myself sighing or groaning to myself over the things happening.
Maybe I'm just weird because I never saw the alicornification of Twilight as a bad thing. I mean, it's been three seasons of trial and tribulations for her - it's not like it was just handed out to her like a participation trophy at a little league game. It brought closure to one chapter of her life, and opened up a new one so for me seeing her succeed was an enjoyable experience.
With all that in mind, yeah...overall it's my favourite episode. But it's not like there aren't episodes that I loved a lot for other reasons - Applebuck Season will always hold a place for me because it was the episode that really made me fall in love with the show and with best pony, Applejack.

I don't put MMC a number 1, but I completely agree with you. Unlike >>25751796 , though, I never had a problem with the episode structurally. It certainly keeps up a snappy pace, but I actually liked that about the episode. Would it have been better as a two-parter? Maybe, but it's not anything approach the cutting room-butchered mess the finale of Stargate: Atlantis was.

Twilight's my favorite and I was too absorbed in the drama, thoughts of how cool it would be to see her develop into a new role as princess, and how cute those new wings would be as she learned to use them.I still wish we had gotten a learning to use wings episode.
I think people were mostly just disapointed that it was one episode to turn her into that even though it was the sum of three seasons of development. I agree with you and the other Anon saying CotLM was a better MMC.

Well looking over other people's answers, there's certainly a diversity of top ranking episodes for people. It's almost as though people have different tastes and criteria for what they like in an episode...
I mean, I really didn't like Lesson Zero, but there's a few anons here who put it as their number one. I spent most of that episode with my palm glued to one half of my face.

I think with the structure, I mostly mean the pacing. It doesn't have much breathing air. For example, just when I was about to feel very badly for Twilight after the 'Find a Way' song, few seconds later she knows what to do. Then a couple minutes later the disaster with her friends was solved already.
So I personally think it would have worked better as a two-parter. And I also wish the episode would have been more like Larson's original script. Anyway it's a comfy feel good episode in the end.

Because Lesson Zero and Party of One were one of the few epsiodes that really shown character flaws in those perfect personalities. Same with Luna in Luna's Eclipse, Discord in Twilight Kingdom or Mane6 in Return of Harmony, Conflict that challenge the personalities of certain character without making them too repetetive or bland (Like Fluttershy in most of her episodes)

Same here. There's also the added factor that it and Return of Harmony were the first new episodes when I started (in S1 hiatus), so watching it fills me with old fandom nostalgia. It puts me back in the frame of mind I had back then, so I can still feel the spark of magic I had in the beginning, even if only for a moment.
