Nice smaller scale premier. No massive world saving epic but a nice intro to the themes of the season, and it worked great on a technical level as it lacked alot of the more cringe inducing moments other episodes have had. If I was to find issue with the episode, it would be with how there is 0 resolution with the villain, as she just runs off into oblivion, but at least this time she didn't fail due only to her own stupidity and didn't monologue herself to death. 9/10 episode.

I don't think they did, just like you can't say they were good. You can't be good without knowing evil, just like you can't feel pleasure without knowing other states of mind.
But I don't think it's the case here. Ponies and their cutie marks are connected, but I like to think that it's like with humans - we too have our predestined talents. Not to that degree, but still - one of us will make better drawings and feel better about it, other one will prefer writing.
Taking away cutie marks is taking away things that ponies are not only good at, but also enjoy doing - their own little tao, something they can use to unite with universe and just be happy.

Joy (and thus enjoyment) is an emotion -- a feeling. Belief is a different kind of feeling, and one that only exists in relation to other topics. Both of those exist on sliding scales.
You can feel great conviction about your own "happy" state, without actually feeling the joy that would logically come with it. (And that is measurable, to some extent; endorphins and dopamine and all that jazz.) If it goes on long enough, I'm sure that conviction will waver and lead to a crisis, but it's still a state that can exist. It is by no means a stable situation.

Well I think we might just be in agrement. I think you might just be restating what I said earlier.
I think your "feeling great conviction about their own 'happy' state" is the same as my "telling others/themselves that they're happy". And I think it's still something of a seperate question whether they truely believe they're happy.
And I'm still thinking that "believe" and "feel" are synonymous in this context. And I think you're agreeing with your "belief = emotion = feeling". I think I'd probably throw "think" on that synonym pile as well: "think = feel = believe".
It may be pertinent though to articulate a more useful, or intensional, definition for these terms. Like saying that "An emotion is a feeling" isn't a useful definition. It's been a long real time since I've armchair-philosophized, so I'm a whole lot hazier on my (well, everything, but...) semantics than I used to be, but you typically want to define things with, like, a list of properties that are required for something to qualify for being called a given term.
Like, to say an "immoral action is a bad action" would be a non-useful definition. But to say "An immoral action is an action which diminishes happiness, well-being, or health; or causes unnecessary harm or suffering" would be a useful one.
And I think to say "a belief is something you think or feel" might be a similarly non-useful definition. But I'm feeling somewhat stumped myself though as to what properties would define a thought/feeling/belief in this context. Perhaps the problem does stem from the internal nature of the phenomenon: the unquantifiability you mention. Perhaps it really isn't possible to determine what someone, or even what we ourselves, truly think/feel/believe.

I loved that. Pinkie being the only one to notice, or even care, that everyone's smiles were off and that not a single pony there was truly happy from the get-go is extremely accurate to her and her element. That's the kind of stuff the show should do more often.

This is my new favorite episode, it was honestly well done. Although nothing that hasn't been done before on other show's, but the /k/ommando and horsefucker in me enjoyed Communism with ponies.
The ending was sappy bull shit though, which is a given considering hasjew's actual target. I liked the "This looks like an end scene" part with ponka, that shit was kinda funny.
