Back from Hell and reporting for duty!

Captain's Log:

In this game, you play the role of Feather Dust, the tiniest pony in Equestria, as she tries to handle the colossal challenges of an inch-high pony's daily life.

Challenges like:

>calming down your cute roommate before you give him a stroke
>being a responsible pone and practicing safe snuggling
>dreaming about being a big mare
>for him
>sampling exotic cuisine
>calmly handling a crisis involving a friendly vessel drifting into hostile territory
>befriending the pegasus ambassador of the animal kingdom
>meeting the largest colony of bats in Ponyville
>conscripting one of said bats for aerial support
>mounting a rescue mission

https://youtu.be/P3asiN8hYyI

Gulliver and Zecora do their best to keep track of the tiny fluttering bat and his passenger. Their destination: The forest to the southwest of Zecora's hut.
Sounds simple enough, right?

>"Here's the plan so far, Kiki: You steer, and I sit up here pretending to be important! Are we clear?"
The bat squeaks and nods as he flies. His tiny body jostles around a lot from the effort going into each wing flap. Feather Dust has some trouble holding on, but she's managing so far.
>'Maybe when I get the Ednosptrad back, I should install a seatbelt...'
"Feather, tell Bruce to slow down a bit!" Gulliver calls from a gap in the trees far below. "There's trees and weeds everywhere down here!"
>"You heard him, Kiki. Turn down the throttle a bit, alright?"
The bat does as he's told, his speed dropping to a much steadier (literally) clip.
But after a few moments of this pace, the sky overhead suddenly darkens...

"KIKI, DO A BARREL ROLL!!"
The tiny bat squeaks with fear and goes into a wide spin, just barely dodging the death grip of the hawk's claws. Feather Dust cries out, clinging to Kiki's short fur for dear life. The hawk caws with indignation and banks, trying to correct its trajectory as quickly as possible.
>'Oh Celestia we're under attack! I never trained for this!! What do I do whatdoIdo WHATDOIDO!?!?'

For a moment, Feather Dust nearly loses her composure and gives in to panic.
But then that little voice in her head that tells her all her best ideas speaks up.
>'No... No! I am a CAPTAIN, and a Captain carries herself with DIGNITY in even the most adverse of circumstances!'
Feather Dust takes a deep breath. She stiffens her lip and assesses the situation. As her gaze falls onto the forest below, the proverbial LED goes off above her head.
>'A-ha!'
>"Kiki, dive! We can lose it in the trees!"
The small bat folds his wings and plummets like a stone into the forest canopy. Somewhere behind and above Kiki, Feather Dust can hear more angry cawing - the hawk's beak probably needs to be cleaned out with soap now.
"Dusty?!" Gulliver calls from somewhere close by. "What was that? Where'd you go?!"
A shadow falls upon the bat and tiny pony from beyond the breaks in the leafy overhang of the forest. Kiki easily weaves through them, but Feather Dust has no idea which way that her faithful steed is going now. And the hawk is going to be back as soon as it finds a break in the trees...

>"I think we're in the clear, Kiki. Just stay out of the places where sunlight is breaking through."
Kiki deftly swerves and dodges around each shaft of sunlight, occasionally uttering a squeak and then adjusting his trajectory or sharply banking one way or the other. Wherever he's going, he might need some time to get to.
>'Looks like we've got a little time to kill...

Kiki shakes his head, then bends one wing across his face in a gesture reminiscent of a brow wipe.

>"Oh, you must be hot!"
The bat squeaks inquisitively.
>"Don't worry, Kiki! I'll be your cooling system!"
The tiny mare takes a deep breath and blows down at the bat's back and neck.
She does this three or four times.
Then she gets dizzy from oxygen deprivation and passes out.
---------------------
Somewhere off in the distance, Feather Dust hears squeaking. The miniature pony stirs and groans, the sound accompanying her returning consciousness. She stirs and rolls over, pushing herself up into a half-sitting, half-laying position.
>"Unnh... What... Who... Why..."
Kiki continues to "EEEE!" eagerly, pointing one wing out ahead of him. The miniature mare's head lolls sideways, gazing incoherently through the treetops.

that means it's still moving. As long as we can maintain visuals, we should be okay.

Survey the situation to make sure we're clear. Then maybe have Kiki scoot as close as possible to the drifting airship while still in the tree canopy, do one last check, and break for it.

Get aboard, check on Coco.

Hopefully the battery still has enough juice to get us moving again.

>"The coast is clear, Kiki... Get as close to it as you can from the canopy, then if it's clear we make a break for it."
The bat responds affirmatively and ducks back into the canopy, taking off from the branch he's been creeping along and darting through the dense foliage. In the tiny gaps between the leaves, Feather Dust sees the Ednosptrad drawing closer.
>"Little more... little more..."
When the Ednosptrad is almost directly overhead, Kiki pulls back without any prompting. Feather Dust clings tightly to his fur as he does a fancy little twirl past the few remaining branches and breaks the canopy, flapping up to the airship as fast as his wings can take him.
The gap between bat and airship closes quickly, but Feather Dust has no way of safely boarding!
>'Whatever I do next, I better do it fast...!'

I'm guessing that Kiki can't hover in front of the entrance?

If anything he can try to grab onto the front of the soda can and we can try to scramble inside.

Make sure to take a peek first and see if there isn't anything spooky that might have crawled in while it was drifting about.

>"Kiki, grab on to the front!"
The bat diverts his course and veers around the side of the Ednosptrad, his beady eyes scanning the airship for a point of access. He makes a sharp turn and opens his fangs wide, having apparently settled on an avenue of attack. With a decisive flap, he beelines towards the cockpit's windshield.
>"Wait wait wait WAIT...!!"
Kiki's sharp little fangs tear through the saran wrap windshield like boogers through a cheap tissue. The formerly placid airship begins to jostle about as Kiki flaps his wings, but the bat holds tight.
>'Dam it!!'
Realizing that beggars can't be choosers, Feather Dust makes her move. She dashes up Kiki's neck and onto his head, diving through the ruined windshield and smacking into the floor of the airship hard enough to dent it.

Feather Dust grits her teeth, then turns and gallops back to her post.
>"Kiki, I need some sugar, stat! Go find some fruit or something and bring a piece back! I need to set a course for Fluttershy's ASAP!"
The bat hesitates for a moment, his gaze seemingly transfixed on Coco.
>"KIKI!!"
The little bat snaps out of it and nods dutifully, swooping down towards the canopy again and vanishing from Feather's field of view. Feather mans (mares?) her post and floors the ignition pedal. The new, heavier propeller spins slowly at first, but quickly gets up to speed.
>"Engines at maximum! Full speed ahead!"
Feather Dust isn't entirely sure of the correct route back to Fluttershy's but she can hazard a good guess based on the direction of the town skyline. Soon, the Ednosptrad is making a beeline back towards Ponyville.

>'There's no way it thinks the Ednosptrad is an Ediblenosptrad...'
She smiles sneakily.
>'Maybe I can trick it into thinking I'm a predator.'
Leaning into her megaphone, Feather Dust purses her lips and utters a shrill, kind of wobbly whistling noise, similar to the chatter of a mongoose.
Actually, it's not similar at all and it makes Feather Dust feel kind of stupid. But still, it seems to be effective: The hawk caws sharply and backs up a bit, apparently confused.
But then it narrows its eyes and caws angrily.
It swoops in to attack!

>'Uh-oh.'
Silent cursing herself for not installing any weapons systems, Feather Dust scrambles to deploy the ballast. She charges at one of the crystals and hurls herself into it full force, sending it tilting sideways and plunging through the bay door.
But it's too slow...
Feather Dust cries out as she's knocked sideways, the entire airship jostling as the hawk's claw knocks it back like a pendulum. The momentum sends two crystals plummeting from the bay doors, and Coco is thrown sideways between the floor panels. Feather Dust grabs desperately onto a toothpick embedded in the wall, trying to pull herself up as the airship ascends, rocking violently back and forth. The hawk, seemingly not expecting so much resistance from the airship, bounces back off the aluminum hull, but it looks more than ready to make another pass.

>"That bat is also Fluttershy's friend!"
The hawk narrows its eyes and warbles irritably. It makes no further attempts to attack the Ednosptrad, but it keeps its eyes locked on Kiki. It seems to be weighing its options...
Then, a small stone breaks the tense atmosphere. The hawk squawks with surprise and it glances down at the forest floor.
"Get out of here!" Gulliver calls angrily, a small pile of rocks levitating beside him. "Go on, shoo! Beat it!!"

But anywho, if we need to we can fly up a bit and find which direction to travel to get to Ponyville or maybe her hut if it's there's smoke. Other than that ask him of he knows what direction he came from.
>>
>>27781688

Hopefully Gully knows what direction he was walking in. Let's make our way back to Fluttershy. Hopefully we can bump into her on the way back, and perhaps Kiki can scout around to see if she veered off-path.
>>
>>27781768
Kiki should know.
>>
>>27781688
We'll look for smoke, then. That's how we found her last time. Reconnect at the house.

Fluttershy first, then Zecora. We can leave Coco there to recover if need be.
>>
>>27782066

I mean on the one side, Zecora is a big mare and knows the Everfree better than we do.

On the other, it'd be a dick move to ditch her.

Feather Dust puts a hoof to her chin.
>"Which way did you come from?"
"I don't know... Northwest...ish?" Gulliver guesses, looking back the way he'd come from. "We were just following you for awhile until that bird started chasing you guys. I tried to keep up, and I guess Zecora and me got separated."
Feather Dust thinks about it for a moment, glancing at Coco with a nervous look. The ant is slowly moving her head about, possibly looking for more berry pieces.
>"Kiki can probably find her. But I think we should get back to Fluttershy's first."
Gulliver gives the Ednosptrad an uncertain look, then he glances back the way he came.
"Bruce, is she right?" he asks the bat, a bit aloof. "Can you use your sonar to find Zecora?"
Kiki squeaks uncertainly and glances at the ground, before giving Gulliver a nod and flying in a little circle around the unicorn's head.
"Great..." Gulliver mutters, a relieved look crossing his face. "Dusty, you take the Edno back to Fluttershy if you want; Bruce and I will go find Zecora."
>"Gully, I don't think that's a good idea..."
"I'm not going to ditch her in the middle of the Everfree Forest." he answers adamantly, glancing off through the trees.

Feather Dust feels conflicting emotions.
On the one hoof, she and Gully both know that splitting up in the Everfree Forest is a bad idea.
But on the other hoof, Gully is always so cute when he's trying to act all brave and responsible. A blush creeps into Feather Dust's cheeks - and a few other parts of her anatomy, and she can only find herself able to sigh at him.
>"Oh, Gully, why do you always have to be such a hero...?"
"It's in my nature." the unicorn deftly replies.
>"Nature out here is dangerous."
"I don't care. Boomerang would do the same thing for a friend."
>"Boomerang is a superhero, Gully."
Gulliver glances slightly towards her. "But you aren't."
Feather Dust looks down and scuffs the floorboard a bit.
>"No... I'm not... Just please be careful, okay? And let Kiki lead the way. He's a smart bat."
Kiki chitters appreciatively and gives Feather Dust a wings-up. Gulliver half-smirks and nods. "I will."
The two ponies exchange one last little hug, and then they (reluctantly) split up, ready to start their missions.
--------------------------------
A short time later, the Ednosptrad reaches the forest edge. The town is easily visible over a nearby hill, and unlike most protagonists, Feather Dust knows her way around her hometown. Crazy concept, huh? She quickly makes her way back to Fluttershy's and starts yelling through an open window:
>"FLUTTERSHY, COME QUICK! WE FOUND COCO! SHE'S... uh..."
Feather Dust pauses and glances back at her sluggish boatswain.
>'What kind of sicknesses do ants get, anyway?'
>>
>>27788390
Let's just ask Flutters to take a look at her
>>
>>27788390
Even if I were to google it, there's no way Dust would know that information.
>>
>>27788390
>Puts on glasses.
Yes, ants can get sick. But, it's mostly the fungal variety. Does Coco have any, fungi growing on her? If she does than most likely she's sick.
>>
>>27788390
I'm going to guess hunger and exhaustion.

As much as she hates to admit weakness, Feather Dust simply has no idea what's ailing Coco. It may be simple exhaustion, or some kind of fungus like that one on the nature channel that turns ants into zomb-
>'Oh.
>Oh, why did I have to think of that NOW?!'
>"I DON'T KNOW, JUST COME AND HELP HER, PLEASE!"
Luckily, Fluttershy was already on her way over before Feather Dust even finished. "Of course." the normally-meek pegasus responds dutifully, pushing the window open all the way and beckoning to the Ednosptrad. "Please, bring her in."
The airship scoots into the room, and Fluttershy gently takes it in her hooves and ties it down so it doesn't float away for the umpteenth time.
>"What should I do? Should I try and move her?"
Fluttershy shakes her head. "That won't be necessary." she says, trotting over to the wall and knocking a hoof against it, a few inches from the floor. Almost immediately, a thin line of picnic ants comes marching out of a small crack; the ants make their way across the floor and up onto the Ednosptrad. Like paramedics, they lift up Coco and carry her out to Fluttershy's waiting hoof, while Feather Dust watches in awe.
>'Wow... She's good.'
"Oh, dear," Fluttershy mumbles, "this looks like the work of prolonged exposure... But, um, I'm going to need a little while to examine her to be sure."
>>
>>27788695
Whatever you need. I trust you, Fluttershy.
>>
>>27788695

>>
>>27788695
Whatever she needs. If we can help in any way, just let us know.

Also, we have been helped by Ponk, Rarity, Twilight, and now Flutts. If we can manage to get AJ and Dash in here somewhere Feather Dust will have met the whole mane six.

>"Whatever you need. Is there anything I can do to help?"
The pegasus shakes her head. "Um, no, a-actually I meant that I'm going to need some to run a few tests. Ants are a bit tricky to treat medically... I don't know how long I'll be, but I'll do my best to help her."
Feather Dust isn't too happy with this answer, but she nods anyway.
>"Okay, Fluttershy. I'm trusting you."
"I'll do my best to help her." she answers resolutely, before looking down gently at Coco. "Come on, sweetie. Let's get you some sucrose gel."
Fluttershy carefully carries her patient off into the next room, leaving Feather Dust alone.
>>
>>27789408
So. Poison joke.
>>
>>27789408

If we're waiting, we might as well check the airship for damage.

We probably should have asked Flutters if we could borrow some more ballast. Replenishing the stuff we threw overboard might be a good idea.
>>
>>27789408
So getting her sweet fruit was a good call.
>>27789427
What?
>>27789444
Good idea. Go slip under the door and pick up some rocks from just outside.
>>
>>27789484
>What?
Oh nothing, just the whole reason we came out here in the first place.
No big deal though.
>>
>>27789492
Oh, you were suggesting we go collect the poison joke and check back in on Coco later. I didn't really get that from you just saying the name of the plant.

Yeah, we can do that, provided we can remember the path we took to Zecora's house and rejoin her and Gully. Don't forget to replenish the ballast first, though.

Left to her own devices, Feather Dust's thoughts naturally start to drift.
To her airship.
...What? Are you surprised?
>'That stupid bird knocked a couple of my crystals out... I need some more ballast to replace them.'
The miniature mare glances around. The front door of the cottage has a seam under it. It's oddly clean and free of scuffs, almost as if it was designed to have a few millimeters of clearance.
>'How weird...'
Shrugging, Feather Dust trots up to the door and then wriggles her way underneath it, popping out on the dirt path.
>'You know, it's funny. When you're big, you can miss a lot of the neat and wonderful things in the world. But when you're my size, you can find interesting stuff everywhere!'

It's been awhile since the QM fucked you guys over on a technicality, hasn't it?
Not wanting to waste any more time in her search for poison joke - or Gulliver and Zecora - Feather Dust just grabs whatever is quickest and easiest. In this case, that'd be the smaller, denser, and infinitely more boring pebbles instead of the cooler and potentially more useful stuff. Once she's loaded her inventory with pebbles, Feather Dust returns to the Ednosptrad and unties it, setting it to liftoff and steering it out the window, back towards the Everfree Forest.
>>
Stopping for the night. I'd say thanks for playing, but I feel like I've been fucking this up even worse than usual, so instead I'll just say thanks for sticking around as long as you have. The final mission is about to begin.
