While the plot does tend to meander everywhere but towards resolution, it still has great action, iconic characters, cool mecha designs, nice music and Pimptimus sama. Muh 1st Gendoom

Glorious production values and amazing action set pieces, spectacular sound design, great - if bit zeekwanky story, only a foolish contrarian will deny it being the best thing to happen to Gundam since F91.

OP here 00 is a good favorite of mine too anon its what brought me back into the franchise i agree on s2 i ended up dropping it and looking up the ending cause i got bored of it compared to s1 which to me was much more exciting

Quarter's father was dead and Irea was either unconscious or dead, so he took control of his family's resources to build the Wing Zero based on blueprints he found whole in the factory that the family used to build the Sandrock.
So the only real problem with 7 is that it's long and repetitive.
Has anybody considered making a fan edit that trims it down to an acceptable length? And if so, what would that be? 26 episodes, 13 episodes? 6 episode OVA. 2 hour movie?

There's already a recap movie, with Frontier's cast and it covers almost the whole tv series.
The problem is that with all those cuts you don't get in the right mood.
Maybe 3 or 4 movies, Dynamite aside, comprehensive of all the main moments would be acceptable IMO.

I've often thought of this. There's just so much unnecessary fluff to this series. That can be said of a lot of long series but M7 really takes the cake.

Depends whether you rule beam weapons as being able to penetrate AT Fields. On the one hand the Positron Cannon was able to do it (once) but that was a weapon designed specifically for anti-Angel combat.
UC beam weapons were designed to fight against conventional opponents, aka not things that warp the laws of physics around them. So there is a pretty good chance that the AT Field would stil be very effective at stopping beam weapons.
Regardless, Evas are much larger than mobilesuits. Assuming...

For those who read FMP novels and supplemental materials, I have questions regarding ARX-8 Laevatein.
What's the origin story?
How advanced it is compared to Arbalest or Venom?
How powerful is that Demolition Gun?
What are these "fairy feathers" and "lambda driver canceller" stuff I've heard of?
Laevatein is the best worst AS ever made.

It's a massively overpowered piece of terrible engineering.

Arbalest got wrecked but Al's AI core got away and made a new robot.

On its own it's a cannon made for demolishing buildings and is so powerful that if used without the lambda driver the Laevatein's arms break.
With the Lambda Driver it's Lambda Driver magic 1-shot anything powerful.

Should I give this a shot? I want to get into the new Gundam Unicorn because I liked what I saw but I feel like I need to know more about the UC before so I decided to watch the original gundam(79, Zeta and so on). But after watching the opening of 0079 my hype is dead
I'm going to be honest, it looks like a kiddy cartoon.
Is it a good anime? Or is it something that was good at the time but doesn't hold up to today standards?
