Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 and 0080 feature some of the most intense fight scenes in all Gundam (OVAs generally do I suppose).

I agree. I think my favorite thing about Amuro as a pilot was how creative and how much he used his ingenuity and the environment. Unfortunately space battles are way easier to animate. Hell, by Zeta even on Earth they'd just fly around on base jabbers and shit instead of walking/running.

I think you mean Black History. The Winter Palace was it's physical location, but it was used for several purposes and not just storing the Black History. It was arguably not even it's most important function, since keeping the vast majority of their population alive in stasis is presumably more important to most people than historical records, regardless of how apocalyptic.
