I got an hour and 30 minutes into Macross: Ai oboete imasu ka, and I got TICKED OFF when Hikaru chose that other girl over Lynn Minmay!
Not only is Lynn pretty, but she sings well, is cute, and generally cooler than that other chick. He was even a fan of her music beforehand, so he clearly wanted to slam her. Had a big poster of her on his door too--Imagine meeting your favorite idol and she is totally into you. That's a fucking dream come true right? And not only does he cheat on her, rejects her, but he ALSO pimp slaps her. Such a disrespectful man. Not sure why...

I only have two words to describe your tale: Hella fuckin epic!Stick to Aldnoah.Zero, faggot.
Minmay was a fucking child the entire series mane. Fuck her.
>/m/ if it existed in the 80s
Let's talk about Appleseed?
>>14152030
What about it?
What's worth watching?
Didn't the Kobe Quake make Shirow give up on finishing Appleseed for drawing oily horsecocks?
>>14152066
>What's worth watching?
The OVA. The CG Movies are very hit or miss, but Alpha was decent.
What does /m/ seen any other Brave show besides GaoGaiGar? If so, what do you think about the ones you have seen? My favorite one so far is Brave of Gold Goldran
>>14151984
I loved J-Decker if only because There aren't a lot of police/rescue mecha anime around.
>>Haven't seen J-Decker but i'll definitely give it a watch soon.
>>14152006
I've seen all but Might Gaine and Dagwon
Goldran>Da Garn>GGG>Exkaiser>J-Decker>Fighbird>GGG FINAL
Honestly, J-Decker is probably better than what I rate it, but it's just not my type of show. It wasn't like it was painful to watch or anything. None of these were, although FINAL did suck.
My hope is that one day, we will finally get translations for Brave Saga games so I can experience Baan Gaan
Why are burgers so determined to rehash 80s or early 90s design style in all the bad aspects?
Also question for Bionicle folk: In what ways did the Burger dude on the staff turn it into capeshit? How capeshitty are we talking about?
>>14151941
Those designs look cool though.
>>14151941
It's not that capeshitty, it just ended up explaining a lot of the stuff that was previously weird and mysterious, sometimes in ways that wound up being goofy even if they made sense. The whole setting we'd known being a robot lying on the actual planet, for instance. It also introduced an assload of characters, alternate dimensions, all sorts of weird shit. Most of it at least sort of makes sense, but it's an entirely different tone from what the line started out as.
As for why everything burgermade...

>In what ways did the Burger dude on the staff turn it into capeshit?
Unity and Duty went out the window, and it was only DESTINY.
>How capeshitty are we talking about?
Something like Marvel's Celestials fighting each other ended up being the final arc.

Fucking brilliant. First 11 episodes are just fantastic, and while the latter half of the show is weaker overall, it's still great. I really wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near as good as it was.

It seems to me that enders game had most realistic space battles as far as western films go:
- Drones insteead piloted crafts that woudl be vulnerable g-forces, had increased mass by life support etc
- Fighters ast like spaceshps, not airplanes (not banking when turning, vernier thrusters used to maneuver)
- Using actual 3 dimensional environment like flanking enemy from below asteroid belt
Also carrier design was just sweet. And geometrical precision of drone formations opposed to swarms of formic fighters was nice contract.
I read the series many years ago, I heard a lot of people didn't dig the movie.
Barring its likely problems as an adaptation, how was the movie overall?
>>14150692
I've seen about ten minutes of it on cable. Apparently they left in the video game that they communicate to him in it.
And the minute or so I saw of the battle school games seemed pretty cool. Probably looked badass in imax doubleplus 3d whatever.
It did a decent job of trying to portray realistic space warfare.
My only real complaint is the absurdity of it all. Putting an entire generation of children through all that. Just so the war can be won by hitting the Formic homeworld with the superweapon.
They had the Formic mostly trapped on their homeworld. They could have waited till they built a second or maybe even third superweapon ship. then just take them all to the homeworld and take turns blasting swarms. To eventually hit the planet.

J-Decker
I have questions, dammit! I'm reading the first book, and rewatching parts of the series cuz I'm just in a Legend of the Galactic Heroes mood lately.
But riddle me this. Where is the bridge on both Imperial and Alliance ships? I have a general idea maybe, but I can't find proper schematics for any of the ships, and anything I do find is very low quality and in Japanese. These amazingly designed ships deserve more love, even if they all look like giant space penises with multiple urethras.
Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't actually matter where the bridge is located on the ship as long as your bridge is stocked with copious amounts of coffee and fine liqeur and your fleet is arranged in a semicircle formation.
>>14148878
both the alliance and empire make use of video screens rather than actual windows (though the empire has seamless full domes compared with the alliance which appears to have mostly just a giant multipanneled front monitor) so i have to assume its somewhere internal to the ship. though the ships are pretty sizable (around 600-700m for the average battleship), the bridge areas seem to take up a lot of room, and since the engines are in the rear and the business end shoots some big powerful lasers, midship seems pretty...

I have some scans of a Japanese artbook, but I'm not sure if the bridges are labeled.
If /m/en here can get their hands on any Rider gears, which would you choose?
For me, either the Accel Driver or Sengoku Driver.

Do any of you gentle/m/en have the unedited audio of the Diebuster cast (Nono mainly, I think?) singing Fly High? All I can find now is someone's edit of the Gunbuster song together with it.

So besides GaoGaiGar, I haven't watched the Brave shows. What's with those two starring what appear to be complete edgelords? (Fourth from left, second from right).
Why does Bright just allow Kai to wander off of White Base with valuable millitary secrets in episode 27?
What happened to "1 year imprisonment at least".
Also, general Kai thread.

I want to get into Area 88. There seems to be 2 versions of the OVA (separate 3 episodes and one compilation of the 3 I think?), which one I'm supposed to watch? I know the TV series comes after those though.
>separate 3 episodes and one compilation of the 3 I think?
It doesn't help that the former is pretty hard to find.
Actually the tv series and OVA are separate adaptations.
The OVA was 3 episodes, then the first two were merged into a compilation to pair off with the 3rd.
Don't ask me what was cut to fit to time, that's a mystery I've given up on.
