If we're just going by the film, there is no explanation.
But in the comics, it's clearly stated that the soviet's purification process of vibranium is much more primitive than the American process, which mean his armor is of a weaker strength than Cap's shield

Multiple reasons:
1. There are only two sources of vibranium on earth. One is in Wakanda, the other is in The Savage Land in Antarctica. Antarctic Vibranium is weaker than Wakandan Vibranium. In the comics, they don't even say what Bucky's arm is made of, so it's probably not even supposed to be Vibranium. If it's vibranium in the movie, it could be Antarctic Vibranium.
2. Cap's shield is not pure vibranium anyway. It's a steel/vibranium alloy that is stronger than pure vibranium...

How much stock do you put into the idea of sales=quality, especially for a niche genre like mecha?
I don't give a shit if people like or don't like what i like. I don't watch mecha because it's "good" or "quality". I watch it because i enjoy it, and i don't need another's approval.
Also, sales mean shit. They can be completely arbitrary of quality, and influenced more by exposure and marketing than by how "good" something is.
Why would anyone think that?
Popular = bad is a dumbass way of thinking, too.

So I know that the similarities derive from both of these shows having similar inspirations like Ideon and Megazone 23. Thing is I watched those and I didn't really find them to be the source of inspiration for any of the elements I was interested.
Namely two things. One is the visualized, introspective like scenes with a sort of stream of consiousness like structure. Where we see Ayato and Shinji talking to projections of their mind.
The other is the somewhat abstract relation between the MC and token mysterious girl in each show - Quon and Rei.

Made the same topic on /a/, in the end people told me there that these ideas rather came from Eva and Rahxephon copied them.

Just watched it. Breddy good actually. Elements of the environments of the fights left something to be desired--some surfaces were just *too* flat, but the choreography was much better than the previous entries. What, what? So this was a CD that stored some kind of interactive screensaver?
Windows Vista and Windows 7 have Dreamscape preinstalled which lets you play videos as part of desktop backgrounds but I've never heard of a screensaver that was video-based or played sounds.

Is there any reason at all why the Ex-Gear pilot suits from Frontier have completely vanished other than "one gimmick per season"? They were kind of useful.

Series that takes place entirely in space, perhaps after humanity finally ditched earth completely. Focus on battles on and around asteroids, space debris, make ships essentially space fortresses so large that infiltrating them in an MS would make more sense than not.
