This book was fucking great. Why isn't cape literature a bigger genre?

I hear you man. I have read a couple cape novels that were pretty good.

It's Superman by Dehaven was great. Like the Flescher cartoon Superman com to life. Very real, very gritty at times and you really got to get into Superman and the suporting cast's heads.

The Flash - Stop Motion by Schultz is another good one. Its a story starring Wally but Barry loomes large. He is always in Wally's thoughts even as he fghts a super speed serial killer. The scenes with running were really well written. You felt their love for speed and their devotion, almost worship of the speed force. So many great moments in that book that made me really love and appreciate Wally even more.

I often wish DC and Marvel would do more novels with good authors suited to book. Imagine a writer lke Jeffrey Deaver doing a Batman book or better yet a sereis? How about a Lee Child written Punisher? A Dr Strange by Brian Sanderson? Gayle Lynds written Wonder Woman? Dan Abnett, Brad Thor, Jim Butcher?

A bunch of authors are out there who can do a good cape book if the companies could attract them. I think the experience of reading a superhero novel can be quite different from a comic. There are some things novels do better that comics (both arts have their advantages).

Could also broaden or even open up new markets to the comic companies. Write them like pulps, hard boiled detective thriller, modern techno thriller. I woud read the fuck out of a Captain America written in a Clancy or Ludlum style.

>The Flash
He seems like he would work better in a book than a comic or movie considering he can basically stop time then run around and think a thousand times as fast as what's going on around him.

Tell me more.

Empire State by Adam Chrstopher is a good original superhero bok. Its got some steampunk, hardboiled detective stuff. Set in NY and has some cool Fleischer Superman/Sky Captain moments.

I wouldn't call it "great", but I enjoyed it. Both of the main characters were pretty well done, especially the villain.

Worm has gotten some popularity, hasn't it?
