How much prep should I do before taking on the big boss here .
High school education.
Eco, Joyce, Schwaller de Lubicz
I just finished the rainbow yesterday. It will be disorienting because thats its design, and wont be like anything like youve read before, but if you're an experienced reader you'll be up to the task. Also read it slowly, what he does to language is really unbelievable. It is very cerebral and deliberate and chaotic, get lost in its labyrinth. Lot 49 and V are unnecessary, if anything start with GR.
Burroughs, Richard FariƱa, boomer-era Mad Magazine, older New Age philospophy shit, maybe Oakley Hall, maybe DeLillo (even though he came on the scene later) that whole genre.
They're not the "muh flowchart" and they're not "stepping stones" but each have a part in/of Pynchon.
I haven't been on /lit/ in over a year.
It's such a weird mix of disappointment and confirmation to find out you guys still need a personal help group just to pick up and read literature.
