>I want to be a pretentious pseudointellectual.
well you're off to a good start.
You don't have to read anything to be a pseud. You don't even have to own any books, though it helps to have them as props.
You could just read french poetry and literature?
You need to give more detail as to who you are trying to impress.

Start of with reading Plato's Republic. Then play some Soma on steam. Proceed to have an existential crisis. In said crisis, you'll find your own way around, reading everything a pretentious pseudointellectual would read, with the bonus of not being a faggot about it.
if you're actually well read you would automatically become less pseud and pretentious
so go read a book anon.

What does well-read even mean? Should I read 1000 books? 2000?
Also, I'm 18 years old. Is it too late for me to become literary and "well-read"?

>What does well-read even mean?
if you have to ask...

To be well read is to have a substantial base on knowledge in literature. 18 isn't too late to become well read, but you should have a goal of becoming "well-read" - your goal should be simply to read more.

how could 18 be too late? Barring any tragedy you have literal decades to read in your free time and be "well read" if that's what you desire
