There's a translation of Zettels Traum coming out from Dalkey this September. Has anyone here read the original? If so, would you recommend it? Anyone have any thoughts about the translator, John E. Woods?

Don't speak German but my grandfather translates French lit and his German-speaking pals say Woods is very good. I've read his translation of Schmidt's novellas and they were excellent, I had no issues with the translation.

have "read" parts of it. It's really interesting, but a very tough read. If you find Finnegans Wake enjoyable, ZT might be it for you, but I actually think it is something you look at from time to time and laugh. Knowledge about Freud/Poe is recommended.
