But seriously, screenwriting is fucken hard and I suck at it.

I've written hacky plays, but screenwriting is something else entirely...you have to dumb yourself down quite a lot while still retaining poignancy.

Be marginally talented at screenwriting (this can be done by reading how-to books) while also having connections to the industry to some extent.

Nobody ever made it by typing up a screenplay they thought was good and mailing it to Warner Bros crossing their fingers somebody would be outrageously bored enough to read it and think "by golly, this is something else!". That's fantasy land shit.
