I've never read it but it doesn't sound like it has anything going for it other than pissing off muslims.

Pretty interesting book. Didn't see it as being anti-Islamic or that controversial - by western standards at least.

I just could not get into it. Rushdie seems like he has that weird, interesting writing style but what is it even about? The characters are interesting for the first five pages they get, then that's it. It's one of those books that seems to have depth at first, but is actually pretty bland.

I would give something else by Rushdie a chance though.
