Placebo can work despite knowing something is placebo, i.e. convincing yourself that convincing yourself you're happy could make you happy would make you happy.
Obviously there's an angle of approach that would have the opposite effect. Another layer of meta could make it harder to just brush aside as the retarded idea that it is, like some kind of rabbit hole you descend further the more you consider it.
