I read Siddhartha. does that count?
no, theres no point in reading anything that wasnt written by white high-class heterosexual men, becasue everyone else is inferior.

maybe?
I guess Rabindranath Tagore counts
The recent Ibis trilogy by Amitav Ghosh was a good read. I learned a lot about opium trade in the old times and also at least 10 different names for an erect penis.
Kalidasa is ancient and wrote brilliant poetry. His devotional poetry is like Rilke's but for ancient Hinduism.
Mahabharata is a complex mindfuck. Everyone knew what was going to happen but they couldn't stop because it was supposed to happen. Paradoxes everywhere.
There is some south Indian poetry from that big literally meetup that happened there centuries ago that is very well written. I think it's called Sangam Literature.
