Every time I've gone back to re-read a YA book as an adult that I had read as a child I am disappointed and the book or series is ruined.

I think I read pic related in 5th grade, it was in the classroom book bin.
Also, gonna ask for a book I swear I at least flipped through in 2nd grade but I can't find shit on. I think it was called "I am Learner" or "I am Leaner," and it was about a mouse/gerbil/hamster/I don't remember exactly. Said mouse/whatever apparently had to deal with some horrible monster at some point; later it turns out the monster was the boy's motorbike. The cover was of said mouse in front of a computer, sitting on the keyboard. I think it was an Apple paperback.

I was going to post this. This is the same story as Holy Mountain. They are both adaptions of mount analogy an unfinished novel based on the teachings of Gurdjeiff. I still have no idea what the fuck any of it is trying to say. I thought I was the only person in the world that had read this book.

If what you are saying is true about it being drawn from the same concepts that The Holy Mountain was, then I suspect the common ingredient I liked was how they deflated the "super seriousness" of life and living, surrounding us. I remember one where this weedy little British kid wooed some girl by hiring some brusier to steal her purse. Then the little British kid played at being a gentleman by taking off his glasses and beating the stuffing out of the big kid.

I've only read the 2 trilogies of Edgeworld chronicles as the others weren't translated. I read books un english now so I guess I will read all of them. I actually read out loud the pic related book to my 8yo brother. Hw loved it but it was a let down for me as I thought it is a great book but I figured it is pretty shitty when I read it now.

Die Drei ??? was my shit, although I always preferred the audiobooks. Pic related was the first one, my parents gave it to me as a gift for Easter back in 1998, because I had a massive obsession with UFOs back then.
