The History of the Peloponnesian War

Tore out my insides, replaced them with barbed wire, and shoved them back in through my throat.

Abraham Lincoln was just a weird looking guy
>>8214884

Even in films from the 30s people just look different. It's as if male face shape has changed.
>>8214789
He had marfan syndrome.
>>8214891
Or maybe standards of beauty have changed. The likelihood of anyone ever getting in front of a camera in the 30's was slim and certainly influenced by privilege and beauty, as it was defined at the time. Today you can see any old fuck's picture, not to mention your understanding of what a typical face looks like based on who you've met and lived around throughout your life.

Can a newbie to literature comprehend this novel? I picked it up the other day for a few dollars. I've been reading through the /lit/ starter pack without much difficulty at all.
Check it out now or wait a few months after i've hit some easier novels?

>Check it out now or wait a few months after i've hit some easier novels?
That's not how literature works.
>>8216799
you simply have encountered a novel that is quite difficult. You either take your time and slowly chew on it while breaking down or go pick out an easier book.
>>8216799
>I picked it up the other day for a few dollars.
Why do you need to ask then? Just read the first chapter.
>>8216882
This. You power level up by volume and time and the knowledge acquired therein not by some neat progression of difficulty

Dark skin has long been a sign of spiritual decay

Growth of the Soil by Hamsun.you'll still be a below average T nu-male after reading it, no amount of reading will purge the environmental xenoestrogens that have poisoned you since you were in the womb.
>>8217990
I literally have hair running up the shaft of my dick. Don't be giving me shit about my T level
>>8217990
>you'll still be a below average T nu-male after reading it
why, i thought hamsun was manly.
also, how does it compare to Hunger?
abraham lincoln was black
>>8218009
were they lincoln and shit?
>>8218003
Less frenetic, more conventionally structured. Unlike Hunger and much of Hamsuns other work, it does not center as much around rootlessness, but goes in the opposite direction. It is widely considered his greatest work, and was also cited as one of the main reasons he got the Nobel prize.
It's Hamsuns REEEEEE towards modernity, industrialization and urbanization, and a celebration of self-reliance, atavism and nature itself. In this respect, it's sort of superficially similar to Walden, just very, very much better IMO.

Thucydides made me realise the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan were completely justified, and that America has an obligation to step up and act like the world's policeman.
