Around page 104, Zizek claims that to quell descent in the 1980s, those in power pushed transcendental meditation, along with drugs and pornography, so rebels would give up.

I poked around online to try and find examples of eastern physiology being mobilized in Poland to crush dissent, to no avail.

Is he just talking out of his ass again? It'd be seriously interesting if he isn't. But given his track record on these subjects, is he just lying to me m8 ????

I know for a fact that transcendental meditation was repressed in Romania in the 80s, not in the least promoted. I dint think Slavboy is paranoid though, just full of shit.

He was mainly stressing the drugs and pornography part (which definitely happened). His inclusion of "Eastern help manuals" (can't remember specifically what he says) is flimsy but I think its a good point, especially if you look at recent trends in first-world countries like the us

Zizek just hates Buddhism

Anytime Buddhism comes up he shits on it. He thinks it's an ultra-reactionary movement/philosophy/religion that Western left-liberals revere in a misguided attempt to seem enlightened.

Zizek's head is so far up his ass he can no longer discern what is and isn't the truth anymore.

I find it difficult to believe that anyone with rudimentary knowledge of Indian history, especially colonial history, would think that Yoga would be a good method of mind control.

Yogi's have been historically been hostile people not only within Indian society, but also against Alexander the Great, and Great Britain.

like every other popular religion buddhism spread by the sword

islam, catholicism, protestantism, hindus and judaism have all produced fantastic contributitions to science, mathematics, music, and arts of all kinds

buddhists have been extremely successfull in just ignoring shit

>would think that Yoga would be a good method of mind control

"Yo bro, do these specific body movements repeatedly and just focus on your body, it'll feel good, and whatever you do, try not to focus on any thoughts that come up during this"

maybe you didn't poke hard enough, in the right places, or are blocked by a language barrier. Does he give a citation? lol just kidding I doubt Zzzzk would cite shit.

Yoga does not equal Yogis. You can package whatever eastern transcendental buddhist shit you want and it won't be a problem if the people you give it to don't know anything about it other than what you're telling them,

In the UK it was promoted. You had those yogi flying classes where you sit in the lotus position and sort of jump around on mats and things. The converted on if the rooms in one of the government buildings to it for politicians.

Zizek is quite unique in some way: he is the most massive faggot both(!) in physical and mental scence, parasitizing in trendy post lacanian and post marxist gibberish, so his popularity among still weak young minds is not a surprise.

When you're doing something you should focus on that thing, excluding thoughts that don't have anything to do with that thing.

Basic concentration skills 101.

>he actually fell for the Žižek meme
You're supposed to namedrop him in party conversations, not read his drivel, boy.
