Atheism renders religion and mysticism into meaninglessness, but religion is the foundation and energy from which civilization has been built. If religion is gone, what is something satisfying and meaningful that can replace it?
Pure rationality, and materialism, are unsatisfying and present many pitfalls. Out of this arise greed, narcissism, and brutality. Look to the Godless Soviet Union, The French Revolution, the nihilistic capitalism of the oil and banking complexes.
