I did go through the introduction twice over as well as his Wikipedia entry but this still isn't a good work. I know Chess Story and Post Office Girl are far more famous, and I am hoping they're better. They'd have to be far, far better than his muddle to justify the reputation he seems to have had, and does have at the moment.
Chess Story is great and you can read it in a matter of hours. Very engrossing.
