I suppose it's a silly question but I just wanted to hear your guys thoughts on it.

From a /lit/ and /biz/ perspective?
You want something that will be related to your book of course! Something either deep or literal maybe.
You ALSO want something that will help it stick out and sell. Since Publishers won't pick up authors that don't sell.
That's pretty much it.
Here's an irrelevant /lit/ cap.
It is important, but definitely not as important as album covers. Basically every modern music release has a square image tied to it, an album cover that tries to depict its content in the most favorable way in order to appeal to consumers.
It's interesting that this attachment to the cover image is so much less important in literature, proven by the fact many books have multiple covers depending on the edition, publisher, translation etc.
Maybe it's harder to convey words into an image? Or maybe the literary scene is not as susceptible to marketing strategies? Or maybe it's because book stores and libraries present their books with their spine, while record stores invite people to flick trough everything?
They are important enough to exist, the title more so.

Ahh, pragmatism.
My old friend.
