If you only read books for 'exercise' then Tai's shitty "skim through the book and call that reading" strategy is actually beneficial for you. You don't have to get entangled with pleb details like "the plot" or "the setting" or "the characters". In my opinion he's still taking the self-help genre way too seriously.
Books by the foot show that there are around 10 hardback or 15 paperback books per foot. Reading a book every ten minutes it can be concluded that you can read a foot of hardback literature in one hour and forty minutes.

I think self-help books are what he's mainly talking about, but at the same time it gives off the impression that books are just a bunch of "gold nuggets" of knowledge to be consumed or that there's some necessity to reading books. That implication should understandably trigger anyone who draws enjoyment out of reading or who sees literature as an art form. Then again, this is the kind of mentality that self-help books seem to create. Honestly if there's one genre of books that we should just burn altogether, it's self-help books.
