Th Night's Dawn Trilogy has some interesting themes about human emancipation and our relationship with technology.

While this thread is here, may as well ask, anything close to the main-line SMT games in tone or content?

Neuromancer is good, but stylistically the world is very different from Deus Ex.

Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan is going to be your best bet, I think.

Fewer robotics until the third book, but the aesthetic is uncannily similar.

how so? I haven't entirely finished Neuromancer yet, I believe I'm about 3 quarters through it, but from what I've read the world seems very similar to Deus Ex. Obviously there are some differences, but overall they feel more alike than different

Sprawl Trilogy
Burning Chrome

I dunno, I suppose it's just that when I read Neuromancer what I imagined was very different than what I saw in playing Deus Ex.

It's different for everyone, though.

The biggest difference I noticed was the depiction of "hacking"
